UFC Fight Night on Fox – Dillashaw vs Barao
The UFC returns to FOX TV on July 25th with a Fight Night card. Headlining the card will be in the 135lb weight category for the Bantamweight Title as TJ Dillashaw will face the number one contender Renan Barao.
UFC fantasy draft experts will have 24 fighters to choose rosters from as 12 fights are on tap. MMA fantasy players can follow the first four fights on the card over FOX. FOX has the prelims at 6PM Eastern Time. Early prelims can be followed over UFC Fight Pass.
TJ Dillashaw vs. Renan Barao: The champion Dillashaw enters Fight Night with a record of 12-2. He has knockouts in 42% of his fights. The contender Barao is 35-2 with 43% of his wins ending in submission victories. Dillashaw a 29 year old fighting out of Sacramento puts up a three fight win streak. At UFC 177 way back on August 30th of 2014 he defeated Joe Soto by knockout. This is a rematch of their match at UFC 173 over a year ago were Dillashaw won by TKO. Barao is 28 years old and fights out of Brazil. He bounced back from his loss to Dillashaw by defeating Mitch Gagnon at UFC Fight Night back in December by submission as he successfully administered the arm triangle choke to get the win. The defeat to Dillashow broke a 32 fight win streak.
Miesha Tate vs. Jessica Eye: This is a match in the 135lb weight class. Tate is the number two contender and is 16-5 in her career. 44% of her wins have come by decision. Eye is the number five contender and steps in with a mark of 11-2. A very high 64% of her wins came by decision. Eye is the busier fighter landing over five strikes per minute. Tate a Bantamweight is on a three fight win streak since a defeat to Ronda Rousey back at UFC 168 on December 28th 2013 by armbar submission. Tate’s past three wins have all come via judges’ scorecard. At UFC 183 Tate earned a majority decision to Sara McMann back in late January. Eye is 28 years old and fights out of Cleveland Ohio. She suffered a defeat at UFC 170 back in February 22nd of 2014 to Alexis Davis by split decision. She bounced back at UFC 180 on November of last year by scoring a TKO win against Leslie Smith.
Edson Barboza vs. Paul Felder: They fighter will come in at 155lbs. Barboza is the number seven contender in his weight category and carries a record of 15-3. He is a successful striker with 67% of his wins coming by knockout. Felder is a perfect 10-0 in his career. He too has succeeded with strikes with a 70% knockout percentage in his victories. Barboza from Brazil is 29 years old. His two fight win streak was snapped at UFC Fight Night on February 22nd of 2015 as he suffered a defeat via unanimous decision to Michael Johnson. He is 2-2 in his past two fights. Felder is 31 years old and fights out of Philadelphia Pennsylvania. The four year pro is coming off a win at UFC 182 on January 3rd of 2015 as he knocked out Danny Castillo in the second round.
Joe Lauzon vs. Takanori Gomi: These fighters compete at 155lbs. Lauzon is 24-11 and has submitted 71% of his opponents in his victories. Gomi from Japan is 35-10. A high 46% of his wins had come by decision. Lauzon calls East Bridgewater Massachusetts home. The 31 year old fighter has three losses over his past five fights. His two fight win streak was stopped back UFC 183 on January 31st 2015 with a loss by TKO to Al Iaquinta in the second round. Gomi is a seasoned veteran as he made his MMA debut way back in 1998. He has spent time in Pride Fighting. Gomi has lost four of his past seven fights. Back on UFC Fight Night in September of 2014 it was Gomi suffering a defeat to Myles Jury by TKO.
