UFC Fight Night 72 – Bisping vs Leites
The UFC returns on Saturday July 18th with another outstanding Fight Night card scheduled. Michael Bisping vs. Thales Leites: A match between the #9 and #10 ranked fighters in the 185lb weight class. Bisping is 26-7 with a 65% knockout percentage in his fights. He is the better defensemen guarding against takedowns. He is the busier fighter landing nearly 4 ½ strikes per minute. Leites is 25-4 fighting and is from Brazil. His victories end up in submissions 56% of the time. Bisping has traded wins with losses over his past nine fights. He is coming off a decision victory against C.B. Dollaway at UFC 186. Leites carries an eight fight winning streak into Saturday. He scored a submission victory against Tim Boetsch at UFC 183 back on January 31st 2015.
Ross Pearson vs. Evan Dunham: Pearson is from nearby England and carries a record of 19-8. Both fighters had their wins end in judges decision over a third of the time. Dunham is 15-6, as he fights from the USA will connect with 5 ½ strikes per minute. The 30-year-old Pearson is coming off a win against Sam Stout at UFC 185 by knockout back on March 14th 2015, which earned him a match performance of the night bonus. Dunham is 33 years old and broke a three fight losing streak with a decision victory against Rodrigo Damm at UFC 185 on January 3rd.
Joseph Duffy vs. Ivan Jorge: Duffy is from Ireland and enters Fight Night with an impressive mark of 13-1. He is a landing 8 ½ strikes per minute on opponents. 62% of his wins have come by submission with only 8% win by decision. Ivan Jorge fights from Brazil and has a good mark of 26-4. He has submitted 50% of his victims in victory. Jorge is a good defender against takedowns. Duffy is working on a three fight win streak following his TKO victory against Jake Lindsey at UFC 185 on January 3rd 2015. Jorge bounced back from a loss to Rodrigo Damm on February of 2014 with a decision victory against Josh Shockley at UFC Fight Night on February 22nd of 2015. Joanne Calderwood vs. Cortney Casey Sanchez: Two ladies mix it up in the 115lb division. Calderwood from Scotland is the hometown product with a record of 9-1. She lands over seven strikes per minute. Casey-Sanchez is 4-1 with two wins by knockouts and the other two victories coming by submission. Calderwood also participates in kickboxing with 21 fights to date. Calderwood is ranked seventh in the UFC Straw Weight division. She looks to bounce back from a defeat to Maryna Moroz at UFC Fight Night on April 11th of 2015.
Leon Edwards vs. Pawel Pawlak: Edwards out of Jamaica is 9-2 with 56% of his wins coming by knockout. The fight is in the 170lb weight class. Pawlak from Poland has an impressive record of 11-1 with 64% wins by knockout. UFC fantasy cash league managers can expect some good action here with a win by knockout a high possibility. Edwards had a six fight win streak snapped in a decision loss to Claudio Silva at UFC Fight Night on November 8th 2014. He bounced back five months later with a knockout win against Seth Baczynski.
Stevie Ray vs. Leonardo Mafra: Ray is the hometown guy fighting from Scotland. He is 17-5, scoring 47% wins by submission. Both fighters have had their victories come by way of the judgers a quarter of the time. Mafra fights out of Brazil and enters Fight Night with a mark of 12-2. The Brazilian has won six of his previous seven fights. He is coming off a win against Cain Carrizosa on March 21st 2015.
