Toronto Blue Jays vs NY Yankees – 4/6/15 MLB Fantasy Sports, Baseball Picks, Odds & Predictions
The Major League Baseball season has its Opening Day Monday for the majority of the teams. On tap for April 6th will be an American League East affair as the Toronto Blue Jays will meet the New York Yankees. They get started from Yankees Stadium at 1PM Eastern Time over ESPN TV.
The New York Yankees were a disappointment a year ago as the team was struck hard with injuries to their starting rotation. Missing significant time were C.C. Sabathia, Masahiro Tanaka, Ivan Nova and Michael Pineda. The team will welcome Alex Rodriguez back to the lineup after his season long suspension due to PED use. ARod had a successful spring but production in March is forgotten very quickly when they play for keeps in April.
The Toronto Blue Jays were many pundits pick to win the American League East during the 2014 season. The team finished with an 83-79 record good for third place in the AL East and five games behind Oakland for the final Wildcard spot.
New York Yankees Starting Pitcher: Masahiro Tanaka will get the start for the Yankees. The right hander missed much of the 2014 season with an elbow injury that was nearly serious enough for Tommy John surgery. Some say the surgery is inevitable. Tanaka started 20 games for the Yankees last season and went 13-5 with an ERA of 2.77 in 136 1/3rd innings of work. He had three starts against the Blue Jays a season ago and allowed four earned runs, 16 hits in three starters working a total of 18 1/3rd innings.

He has had good success hitting Hutchison with a .455 average as he goes 5 of 11 with three RBI’s. He was a .303 hitter at Yankees Stadium as he belted seven homers with 28 RBI”s in 264 at bats.
New York Yankees DH: Alex Rodriguez last saw work in a regular season game for the New York Yankees back in the 2013 campaign. His numbers have gone down and it was a real struggle as he batted .244 in 156 at bats with seven homers and 19 RBI’s. He hit just .111 as a pinch hitter that season.
Toronto Blue Jays Starting Pitcher: It will be 24 year old Drew Hutchison taking the mound for the Blue Jays on Opening Day. He started 32 games for the Blue Jays in 2014 and went 11-13 with an ERA Of 4.48 working 184 2/3rd innings. Hutchinson is prone to the big innings as the hurler has allowed five or more earned runs in nine of his starts last season.
Blue Jays 1B: Edwin Encarnacion has had modest success against the Yankees starter Tanaka as he has four hits in eight at bats. He hit .270 against right handers a season ago with 19 homers and 54 RBI’s.
