MLB One Day Cash Draft Notables

• The Washington Nationals have won pitchers Stephen Strasburg’s last 13 starts dating back to Sept. 15, 2015. That streak is the longest in franchise history, having edged past Jordan Zimmermann’s mark of 12 from 2014-15.

• Chicago Cubs right fielder Jason Heyward took batting practice and went through a pregame workout on Monday, and there is a chance he could play during the series despite suffering a right rib contusion on Friday diving into the outfield wall in San Francisco.

• Boston Red Sox outfielder Jackie Bradley Jr. extended his hitting streak to 27 games Sunday, while teammate Xander Bogaerts extended his to 16.

• Detroit Tigers Slugger Miguel Cabrera has five home runs in his last four games. Monday’s two-homer game was the 36th multi-homer game of his career.

• The Baltimore Orioles provide plenty of pop. Entering play Sunday, they led the Majors with 62 home runs. Manny Machado, Chris Davis and Mark Trumbo have each compiled at least 10 home runs and 25 RBI over the Orioles’ first 40 games of the season, which last occurred in 2010 with the Toronto Blue Jays trio of Jose Bautista, Vernon Wells and Alex Gonzalez.

• Ace Chris Sale has thrown three complete games already this season, making him the first White Sox starter with three complete games in the first nine starts of a season since Jack McDowell in 1991.

• Chicago White Sox outfielder Austin Jackson is a .438 hitter (7-for-16) with three doubles, one triple and one home run against today’s opposing pitcher, Josh Tomlin.

• The Minnesota Twins activated shortstop Eduardo Escobar from the 15-day disabled list on Monday, but he’s expected to share duties at shortstop with hot-hitting Eduardo Nunez.

• Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Yasmani Grandal could make his first start since fouling a ball off his foot Saturday. A.J. Ellis has received both starts since, but Grandal’s X-rays came back negative and he has been available to pinch-hit.

Boston Red Sox Fantasy Baseball Projection 2016

FanPicks is getting ready for the upcoming 2016 MLB season with team’s preview and daily fantasy baseball contests. Set your timer for April 3rd opening day. With over a million dollars to win this MLB season at FanPicks, it’s time for you to register right now, right here! Time for the Boston Red Sox Fantasy Baseball Projection:

Boston Red Sox Fantasy Baseball Projection

Year after year, the Boston Red Sox are a team vying for the World Series and nothing else. So when the team falls at the bottom of their division for the past two years, things are bound to change. Things were made very clear when owner John Henry opened up his wallet to lure David Price. Price signed the most lucrative contract by a MLB pitcher ever. Can his arrival help the proud city of Boston get back to the top like they did three years ago, when they were crown 2013 World Series champion?

Players to watch:

  • David Price
  • David Ortiz
  • Mookie Betts

It will be interesting to see how Price can deal with the pressure of improving Boston’s rotation, especially after the fact that lefties are usually struggling at Fenway Park. But not him, he’s been solid throughout his career there with a 1.95 ERA in 11 starts, while holding Red Sox hitters to an .186/261/.289 slash line.

The 40 years-old Ortiz doesn’t act a day his age, he keeps on slugging the ball and leading the charge in Boston. He finished the 2015 season with 37 homers and 108 RBI’s. With the technology to keep more-aged players in good condition nowadays, it would not be surprising to see the same kind of numbers from him this season. “Big Papy” also announced that this would be his final season, so it’s no secret that he categorize as a sentimental fantasy pick.

Mookie Betts has shown signs of greatness in the latter part of the 2015 season. He had a batting average of .311 after the All-Star game, last year. The 23 years-old has the skill sets to become a franchise cornerstone in the Red Sox organization for years to come.

The Boston Red Sox have the commodity of turning their success around in a single season. Never expect a rebuilding year with them, they’re always a treat of taking home the big honors.

Fantasy Baseball Best Picks of the Day – September 30th 2015

What a day to play daily fantasy baseball. There are three doubleheaders happening today, because of the rain canceling games last night. First off, the Cards will not only have one but two opportunities to clinch the National League Central crown against the Bucs. St. Louis could win their 3rd straight title for the 2nd time in history. Two pitchers inching closer to the 20 win mark will go at it in the first game. I’m talking about Michael Wacha and Gerrit Cole, who both came out as big surprises this year. Also in the program today is the game between the A’s and Halo’s. Barry Zito, who will be pitching for the A’s on a three game rest, will perhaps play his final game in the Major League Baseball. He had an illustrious career, winning the Cy-Young award back in 2002 and being a World Series champion in 2012. Like Zito was back in the 2000s, let see who the hot picks for today DFS contest are.

P Michael Wacha – St. Louis Cardinals

Season: 17 W, 6 L, 3.15 ERA, 149 Ks, 54 BBs

Wacha was intended to pitch yesterday, but the rain happened and now the game has been pushed to today. He could become the first pitcher in the majors, under the age of 25 to win 18 games since Joe Magrane in 1989. The Cardinals will try to clinch top spot in the division and be done with it as early as possible, so a lot of run support should be expected coming in the first game to support the youngster.

C Yan Gomes – Cleveland Indians

Season:  .229 AVG, 12 HRs, 44 RBIs, 37 Runs

Gomes and the Tribes will be part of a doubleheader against the Minnesota Twins. The catcher had success against both of today’s opposing starters, Kyle Gibson and Mike Pelfrey. He totaled 3 home runs and 6 RBIs with an average of .417 in 17 at-bats between the two pitchers.

1B Justin Morneau – Colorado Rockies

Season: .312 AVG, 3 HRs, 12 RBIs, 17 Runs

Morneau has been of fire during the month of September with 2 triples, 3 RBIs and a .351 average. So to close it out, he will face Arizona’s pitcher Chase Anderson. The Canadian has had success against Anderson, hitting .400 with 1 homer and 3 RBIs.

2B Robinson Cano – Seattle Mariners

Season: .282 AVG, 20 HRs, 76 RBIs, 79 Runs, 2 SBs

Cano is on a 12 game hitting streak. He has a total of 4 homer run in that stretch. That includes a two-run dinger that he knocked yesterday. He will look to extend this streak against underwhelming Scott Kazmir.

3B Mike Moustakas – Kansas City Royals

Season: .281 AVG, 21 HRs, 77 RBIs, 70 Runs, 1 SB

Moustakas is having his best season yet. He came out clutch for the Royals during last Thursday matchup with the Mariners, going 3-for-3 with a homer and 3 RBIs to allow his team to clinch the American League Central division. “Moose” is batting a career .314 with 2 home runs and 4 RBIs against pitcher Jose Quintana.

SS Xander Bogaerts – Boston Red Sox

Season: .324 AVG, 7 HRs, 81 RBIs, 81 Runs, 10 SBs

Bogaerts and the Red Sox have been on a roll in the past week. Boston has won 5 in a row and Bogaerts has been hitting .364 with 4 runs and 2 RBIs in that span. The Red Sox will try to spoil the New York’s chance to win their 10,000 regular season victory once again in Yankee Stadium.

OF Bryce Harper – Washington Nationals

Season: .334 AVG, 41 HRs, 96 RBIs, 117 Runs, 6 SBs

The Washington National have failed to reach expectations this season. Only Bryce Harper has been able to keep this team strong. But one player can only do so much in a team sport. The perennial MVP showed pitcher William Perez how good he is in their only confrontation, smashing one over the fence for 3 runs. Let see what Harper can do with multiple at-bats against the Venezuelan.

OF Torii Hunter – Minnesota Twins

Season: .242 AVG, 22 HRs, 77 RBIs, 67 Runs, 2 SBs

The 40 years-old Hunter has elevated his power numbers, but it comes at the expense of his average. He has never played a full season batting under .250, until this year. His home run total has greatly increased though, and it’s the first time since 2011 that he has more than 20. “Spiderman” will have the chance to play in two games today for the Twins, or at least one.

OF Andre Ethier – Los Angeles Dodgers

Season: .299 AVG, 14 HRs, 51 RBIs, 53 Runs, 2 SBs

Ethier had a triple and 2 RBI’s in the division clinching win against the Giants yesterday. His batting average started to rise again after the all-star break, and now he is almost back at the .300 ceiling. Ethier will have no problem today against Mike Leake. He has 2 homers and 6 RBIs with a.389 average when facing Leake.

Fantasy Baseball Picks Recap

P Michael Wacha – St. Louis Cardinals

C Yan Gomes – Cleveland Indians

1B Justin Morneau – Colorado Rockies

2B Robinson Cano – Seattle Mariners

3B Mike Moustakas – Kansas City Royals

SS Xander Bogaerts – Boston Red Sox

It has been a poor season for the Boston Red Sox as the club enters play with a record of 76-80. Fantasy Baseball Best Picks of the Day – September 22nd 2015

It’s a beautiful day for Fantasy Baseball, as all 30 teams get back into action. That means it’s time to play fantasy baseball for real money. The race is on for the pennant and there is some heavy battle out there. Yesterday, the Blue Jays distanced themselves 3.5 games from the Yankees in the American League East. David Price had a stellar performance once again. He won every single game he played this month (4-0). Another pitcher that never seems to lose (especially at Minute Maid Park) is Dallas Keuchel, who is now 14-0 at home. He’s the only pitcher in the history of Major League Baseball to accomplish this feat. The Astros were able to get back one game behind the division leading Rangers. With all this drama unfolding, what is to be expected today in Daily Fantasy Baseball? Let’s get to today’s hot fantasy picks:

P Hisashi Iwakuma – Seattle Mariners

 Season: 8 W, 4 L, 3.90 ERA, 92 Ks, 20 BBs

Sure, he will be facing the best team in the American League, but Iwakuma has been efficient for the Seattle Mariners since August. We are talking about a 6-2 record and a 2.99 ERA in that stretch. Let’s not forget the no-hitter he threw back on August 12th against the Baltimore Orioles. Not only does he ride a good spell, but he also has a great record against the opposition. He holds 2 wins and no losses with a 2.14 ERA in three outings against the Kansas City Royals. Tonight, the Japanese will spoil the opportunity for the Royals to clinch a playoff spot.

C Brian McCann – New York Yankees

Season:  .238 AVG, 26 HRs, 90 RBIs, 65 Runs

The Toronto Blue Jays got the win yesterday with ace David Price on the mound. Today, it’s Marco Estrada’s turn. I’m not saying Estrada is no good, but he’s no David Price. The Yankees will take the opportunity to swing their big bats, and that means that McCann will cash in a few RBI’s in the cleanup spot.

1B Paul Goldschmidt – Arizona Diamondbacks

Season: .243 AVG, 10 HRs, 60 RBIs, 36 Runs

I said yesterday that Arizona needed to take out some frustration out on the Dodgers, and that’s exactly what they did. 17 hits and an 8-4 win in last night game was what they needed. Paul Goldschmidt has been in the middle of this rumble, knocking out one out of the park. He will continue to ride this out against starter Alex Wood. Goldy has 2 homers and 4 RBIs in 7 at-bats when facing Woods.

2B Cory Spangenberg – San Diego Padres

Season: .264 AVG, 3 HRs, 18 RBIs, 32 Runs, 9 SBs

He has been kept in the shadows playing for the San Diego Padres, but this 2011 first-round pick will become one of the best second baseman in the league. He will have an easy task tonight against San Francisco starter Chris Heston, who has been awful lately.

3B Kris Bryant – Chicago Cubs

Season: .277 AVG, 25 HRs, 95 RBIs, 84 Runs, 13 SBs

He started the season as one of the best prospect in baseball. Now he leads all rookies in RBI’s, with 95, and is tied for first in home runs, with 25. The third baseman will have no problem helping pitcher Jake Arrieta get his 20th win against the winning less Tyler Cravy.

SS Xander Bogaerts – Boston Red Sox

Season: .323 AVG, 7 HRs, 78 RBIs, 76 Runs, 10 SBs

On the 10th game of his hitting streak, he has belted a grand slam and finished the night with 5 RBI’s. Leading all shortstop in batting average, Bogaerts his quickly becoming the building block of the Boston Red Sox. He will have no problem following up on his memorable night against Matt Moore. Moore never had good outings at Fenway.

OF Rusney Castillo – Boston Red Sox

Season: .270 AVG, 5 HRs, 29 RBIs, 33 Runs, 4 SBs

The Cuban import is still getting used to playing in MLB this year. He doesn’t show big numbers but the everyday left fielder should produce against Matt Moore at Fenway Park. The Red Sox are still seeing something in him. So should we.

OF Seth Smith – Seattle Mariners

Season: .247 AVG, 11 HRs, 41 RBIs, 48 Runs

Nelson Cruz doesn’t have success against Jeremy Guthrie. It will be on Robinson Cano and Seth Smith to take charge of the offense. Smith has had some quality at-bats facing Guthrie.

OF Angel Pagan – San Francisco Giants

Season: .266 AVG, 2 HRs, 32 RBIs, 48 Runs, 9 SBs

It was a little over one week ago that Pagan was able to steal 3 bases against the Padres. He could pull another trick up his sleeves once again in San Diego.

Fantasy Baseball Picks Recap

P Hisashi Iwakuma – Seattle Mariners

C Brian McCann – New York Yankees

1B Paul Goldschmidt – Arizona Diamondbacks

2B Cory Spangenberg – San Diego Padres

3B Kris Bryant – Chicago Cubs

Fantasy Baseball Best Pick of the Evening – September 21th 2015

We’re less than two weeks away from closing out the Fantasy Baseball regular season. Come learn how to play fantasy baseball before it’s too late. There is 10 games to be played Monday evening. The most interesting matchup today is the one between the New York Yankees and the Toronto Blue Jay. They begin a crucial 3 game series for the top spot in the A.L. East. Blue Jays ace, David Price (16-5), will start with Yankees Adam Warren (6-6) opposing him. Now let’s take a look at some hot fantasy picks:

P Jason Hammel – Chicago Cubs

 Season: 8 W, 6L, 3.73 ERA, 159 Ks, 39 BBs

The Chicago Cubs have been on a tear lately. They are in a battle against the Pittsburgh Pirates for the wild card spot in the National League. The Cubbies begin a three-game stand at Wrigley against the Brew Crew. Jason Hammel (8-6) will be on the mound for Chicago. He has struggled in his last outing allowing four runs in 3 2/3 innings. After the game, he made it clear that he blew it and had to be better. Now is the chance to prove it. He’s undefeated in 10 games against Milwaukee, with 7 decision wins and a 2.13 ERA. His opponent Wily Peralta (5-9) as failed to reproduce the numbers that made him successful last year. Against a team that has no more playoff aspiration, this should be a cake walk for Hammel.

C Travis d’Arnaud – New York Mets

Season:  .283 AVG, 12 HRs, 41 RBIs, 30 Runs

D’Arnaud has been ripping it up in the month of September, hitting for .327. He will face starter Shelby Miller, the National League leader in losses. Besides that, Miller hasn’t won since May 18th. This is good for D’Arnaud.

1B Paul Goldschmidt – Arizona Diamondbacks

Season: .315 AVG, 28 HRs, 100 RBIs, 91 Runs, 21 SBs

With the D-Backs eliminated from the playoffs yesterday, players will want to take out their frustration on the field. One of those players is Paul Goldschmidt who his batting .538 in 13 at-bats against opposing pitcher Brett Anderson. Goldy has 2 homers and 5 RBI’s this season alone, when facing the Dodgers hurler.

2B Brandon Phillips – Cincinnati Reds

Season: .293 AVG, 12 HRs, 65 RBIs, 66 Runs, 21 SBs

Phillips is on a roll as of late hitting .338 and getting 13 RBIs in the month of September. He has been able to get 2 hits in each season off Jaime Garcia the past five years. This year, Phillips has none in 4 at-bats against the lefty. It’s his last chance to get some before season end.

3B Chase Headley – New York Yankees

Season: .264 AVG, 11 HRs, 61 RBIs, 72 Runs

This is a big one between the New York Yankees and the Toronto Blue Jays. The fantasy score will come from an unlikely hero. That hero will be Chase Headley. He has success this season against David Price with a batting average of .600.

SS Xander Bogaerts – Boston Red Sox

Season: .322 AVG, 6 HRs, 73 RBIs, 74 Runs, 13 SBs

Who knew Bogaerts was going to soar this year. The last shortstop to have had that much talent with the bat for the Red Sox was Nomar Garciaparra. The 22 years-old his way to be the next Garciaparra. He’s currently on a nine game hitting streak and is the second best in the American League with an average of .322.

OF Melky Cabrera – Chicago White Sox

Season: .274 AVG, 11 HRs, 73 RBIs, 66 Runs, 3 SBs

It will be the Melky way tonight at Comerica Park. Cabrera has had past success against the 39 years-old Randy Wolf, batting .571 since 2010. They haven’t faced off since 2012, but the aging Wolf is in the decline and Cabrera will make him pay for it.

OF Carl Crawford – Los Angeles Dodgers

Season: .265 AVG, 4 HRs, 15 RBIs, 17 Runs, 9 SBs

He is not the all-star as he once was, but he is hitting .298 and has stolen 9 bases since the beginning of August. Back in 2013, he has faced Jhoulys Chacin 6 time, and has collected 5 hits against him. You can say that Crawford will have Chacin’s number Monday night.

OF Scott Van Slyke – Los Angeles Dodgers

Season: .248 AVG, 6 HRs, 29 RBIs, 19 Runs, 3 SBs

Adrian’s Gonzalez is questionable for Monday’s matchup between the Diamondbacks and the Dodgers. This could allow Scott Van Slyke to play his second game in a row. He knocked a solo-home run last night. The son of former MLB player Andy Van Slyke is no slouch against Jhoulys Chacin, hitting .600 against him in the past 2 years.
