DFS NBA Value Picks
Fanpicks is proud to bring you another edition of our DFS NBA value picks. We will supply you with three fantasy options who in our opinion, bring you greater value than their cap hit suggests.
Let’s take a look at our players today.
SG Wesley Matthews (DAL) – Since Chandler Parsons was lost for the season, Wesley Matthews has become a much bigger part of the Mavericks offense. He has averaged 27.56 fantasy points over his last five games while dropping 26 points on Friday, including six 3-pointers. He’s still priced at $4900, so take advantage of the great value while it lasts.
SG Rodney Hood (UTA) – While inconsistent (four of last 10 games under 20 fantasy points), Hood has posted 35.6 and 24.8 fantasy points in his last two games (respectively). Obviously the Warriors aren’t the best matchup, but you can gamble on the hot streak if you like Hood tonight.
PF Derrick Favors (UTA) – Favors is the more expensive option amongst Jazz players, but the power forward has been ripping it up over his last 10 games. His projected 34 fantasy points put him on par with the likes of star point guard Kyle Lowry who is due $1000 more ($8200).

The Mavericks will head to Milwaukee looking for their third-straight win after defeating their division-rival New Orleans Pelicans 100-91 on Wednesday night. It was an impressive win for the Mavs following a double overtime victory over the Kings the night before. As a result of the double-overtime win, Dallas choose to rest four of their five starters and had only 10 players available for the game. Raymond felt led the team in scoring with 22 points (6-14 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 7-7 FT), six assists, and a steal in 36 minutes. Chandler Parsons, who was questionable with a hip contusion, contributed 21 points (9-16 FG, 0-5 3Pt, 3-3 FT), eight rebounds, and six assists in 31 minutes. All the starters should return to the court after their night off on Wednesday, including former Buck and All-Star candidate Zaza Pachulia. The Mavericks have won six straight over the Buck dating back to 2011.
The Bucks return home after swinging by Chicago on Tuesday for a game against the Bulls in which they were defeated 117-106. The Bucks only played nine players on Tuesday. Khris Middleton led the group with 26 points (10-21 FG, 5-10 3Pt, 1-1 FT), seven assists, four rebounds, and a steal in 38 minutes. Michael Carter-Williams added 20 points (9-14 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 1-1 FT), 12 assists, three rebounds, and two steals in 37 minutes. Jerryd Bayless missed the game after coming back from an 11-game absence on Monday. His status heading into Friday is still unknown. The Bucks have allowed 114.4 points per game in their past five games and are endanger of dropping their third straight.

The Mavericks were dangerously close to dropping three games in a row, but came away with a thrilling 117-116 double overtime win over the Kings on Tuesday night, giving Dallas their first victory in the new year. Deron Williams, who was questionable heading into Tuesday night, led the Mavericks with 25 points (10-18 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 2-4 FT), along with four assists, two rebounds, and two steals in 43 minutes. Zaza Pachulia contributed nine points (4-11 FG, 1-2 FT), a game-high 17 rebounds, and five steals in 40 minutes. Chandler Parsons left the game with a right hip injury, the severity of which is still unknown. It would not be surprising if Parsons was held out for the second of Dallas’ back-to-back set on Wednesday night. The Mavericks are 1-2 against the Pelicans this season, with their lone victory coming on November 7 by a score of 107-98.
The Pelicans snapped a two game skid with a win over the Mavericks on Saturday 105-98. Anthony Davis led the way with 31 points (13-22 FG, 5-6 FT), 14 rebounds, a steal and a block in 43 minutes. Norris Cole added his own double-double with 16 points (7-16 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT), a career-high 12 rebounds, four assists, and four steals in 38 minutes. Tyreke Evans missed Saturday’s win due to tendinitis in his knee, but is expected to be back out on the court Wednesday. Quincy Pondexter, who has yet to play this season as he continues to recover from knee surgery, is listed as questionable for Wednesday. However head coach Alvin Gentry said he could still be a couple weeks away from a return, so the chances he takes the court on Wednesday are slim. With Saturday’s win the Pelicans snapped a six-game losing streak in Dallas. They’ll look to continue their winning ways against the Mavericks in front of their home-crowd on Wednesday.

The Kings have been a frustrating team this year, but have been playing better ball as of late. They have now won seven of their last 12 games and are coming off their best two-game stretch of the season. On Saturday, they scored a season-high 142 points against the Phoenix Suns and on Monday they beat the Oklahoma City Thunder on the road. Rajon Rondo had a combined 34 assists in those two games and continues to dazzle as one of the elite point guards in the NBA. This marks their third game in four days, so it should be interesting to see how they perform against a veteran team like the Mavericks.
Dallas is one of the most disciplined teams in the NBA and much of that has to be credited to their veteran leadership. They rank fourth in the NBA in turnovers and rarely allow the other team to get points off those few turnovers. Dallas does come into this game in the midst of a modest two-game losing streak, albeit against two talented teams. The surprise for this team has been the play of Zaza Pachulia, who ranks in the top-six in double-doubles this season. Look for the Mavericks to put together an efficient offensive performance here against one of the worst defenses in the NBA. In fact, they come into this game as a projected seven-point favorite.
Daily Fantasy NBA Basketball Picks 12-22-15
Mike Conley star point guard for the Memphis Grizzlies should have an outstanding game against the Philadelphia 76ers, who have dreadful overall this season. The 76ers performance against point guards has been terrible and continues to trend downward. Both Kendall Marshall ad TJ McConell have gotten the call to split time at the point guard spot which doesn’t fare well for their defensive chances. Conley’s game as of late has been amazing. He scored 20 points during each of his last 2 games… we expect Conley to continue his strong play against the luckless Sixers
Still filling in for Mudiay… Jameer Nelson is seeing a lot of court time. The Lakers game against point guards continues to be poor which explains why they are currently ranked the worst in the league. We expect, Nelson who had a solid 15 point performance in 37 minutes against New Orleans, could take advantage against the Lakers. Nelson has scored in double figures in each of the last 5 games. We believe Louis Williams will more than likely see the most action against Nelson.
We look to 4th ranked point guard in the league, Reggie Jackson, to give Dragic a tough matchup. Currently, Dragic is averaging 11.3 points just below his career average of 12.6 points with the drop off in 3-pointers being really apparent. Dragic is a career .357 3-point shooter but this year is only shooting .277 from behind the arc. Nonetheless we think he should be coming out of his slump
At the moment Will Barton is showing GAME! Having just come off one of the best games his career game, during which, Barton scored 32 points with seven 3-pointers. Currently, Barton averages 15.3 points a game and is 6th in the league among small forwards in efficiency. He would also be sixth among shooting guards in the same category. Barton goes into a favorable matchup against the Lakers. The Lakers are currently the worst in the league in terms of giving up fantasy points to shooting guards. Look for Jordan Clarkson or Kobe Bryant to guard Barton, which in either case would favor the Nuggets’ sixth man.
While the Mavericks’ Wesley Matthews has the potential for game… he has been struggling, scoring only 13 points against Phoenix, and a combined 6 points against Indiana and Memphis while playing only 29 minutes per game on average. Matthews will be facing Toronto one of the league’s top defender against shooting guards.
Ever since the Raptors realized that Terrence Ross wasn’t cutting it in Carroll’s place; Johnson was appointed to start the last two games. Johnson has posted double figures in his last two games, scoring 14 points each against Sacramento and Minnesota. However, we believe that Dallas will test him, as the Mavericks have shown that they are exceptionally good at keeping fantasy scores lower for small forwards. He will probably be shadowed by Chandler Parsons, and while Johnson is not an explosive player he is more than capable to put up numbers
Barnes continues to start for the Grizz as they go small in an effort to bring Z-Bo off the bench and mismatch their rotations. Barnes has only averaged 8.9 points per contest but could see greener pastures against the Sixers who can’t seem to stop anyone. No team is worse than the Sixers at defending small forwards when using fantasy points as a metric. The Sixers’ Robert Covington could give Barnes problems with his length. Covington is 6’9” while Barnes is 6’6”.
The Italian sniper, Danilo Gallinari will face the Lakers which could very well result in a high scoring game for him. Gallinari is 7th in efficiency among small forwards and is averaging a little over 17 points a game. One interesting note about Gallinari is that if his shot isn’t falling, he is being aggressive and getting to the free throw line. He scored 11 of his 18 points from the stripe in his last game. Gallinari’s 18 points came in just 23 minutes, before he was injured with an ankle sprain. The Lakers are the 3rd worst team in the league in defending fantasy points among small forwards. Gallinari will likely see Kobe Bryant most of the night, if he plays.
Faried is a popular play tonight against a Laker team allowing worse than league average production against opposing power forwards this season.
Rarely does a guy come along who has absolutely no role on the offensive end and is yet still very much a play in DFS. My boy Bismack fits the bill. He’s crazy athletic, looks perfectly at home on the court and exists as the fifth option on offense with the first unit. And calling him the fifth option is really doing him a solid because he’s probably more like the 10th option as you should count all the other guys twice before ever getting to him. But he’s rebounding like a madman and playing crazy minutes. This short slate doesn’t have me wanting to get big money on center.
He should dominate Philly and Jahlil tonight. The only issue is whether he sees anything close to the right amount of minutes. There’s always a good chance Philly gets run out of the gym and that’s the end of the Grizz starter’s minutes. Gasol has big offensive upside, but it isn’t consistent. The thought of that plus his minutes going awry is troubling.
