The Pistons have gone back and forth in the wins and losses column lately, spending Tuesday night on receiving end of a 107-89 away loss to the Miami Heat. Tobias Harris and Reggie Jackson each scored 21 points, with the pair combining to go a impeccable 13 for 13 from the free throw line. In his 23 starts since landing with Detroit from Orlando a little before the trade deadline, Harris is averaging 16.5 points and 6.1 boards per game. Andre Drummond ended up with a 12-point, 13-board double-double, shooting 5 of 9 from the field. Drummond tops the NBA in double-doubles by a significant margin, with 65 to his name, in front of Russell Westbrook with 51. The team can ill afford more defeats with their postseason lives in the balance, as they currently hold  the eighth spot in the East with the ninth place Bulls breathing down their necks just two games behind.

Orlando have won four of their past five outings, with their latest victory at home facing the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday, 119-107. Nikola Vucevic was relinquished to a bench role in his third game back from a groin injury, yet led the squad in scoring, posting a double-double with 25 points and 12 rebounds, going 10 of 19 from the paint and 5 of 7 from the charity stripe. Despite his time off, Vucevic remains the most potent offensive menace for the the Magic, averaging 18 points and 8.9 rebounds over the course of 61 games. Evan Fournier and Victor Oladipo recorded 20 points each, with Fournier going 3 of 8 from beyond the arc and forcing 3 turnovers and Oladipo taking in 5 boards. Aaron Gordon contributed to the cause with 14-point and 10-rebound for the double-double, as the Magic remain in 11th place in the Eastern Conference with five games left in their rocky 2015-16 campaign.

NBA Fantasy Basketball Value Picks Thunder vs Pistons

Dominate your competition with our NBA Fantasy Basketball Value Picks, create the winning lineup at Fanpicks.com. The Oklahoma City Thunder (52-22) travel to Michigan to take on the Detroit Pistons (39-35) at Palace of Auburn Hills.
Fantasy Basketball
Oklahoma City is playing their finest basketball of the season right now and it couldn’t have come at a better moment. They carry an eight-game winning streak into this match-up, with seven of those coming versus teams with .500 records or better. What’s even more impressive are the margins, as they have defeated six of those teams by double-digits. The last two victories may be the most impressive, as they beat the number two ranked squads in both conferences. This will be a difficult task though, as the Thunder are in the back end of a back-to-back set and are facing a Detroit lineup that is fighting to get into the playoffs.

The Pistons come into this contest winning five of their last six, which has launched them into the eight-seed. They find themselves 2.5 games ahead the Chicago Bulls and three above the Washington Wizards. This is not a team you want to face in the playoffs either, as they have very few weaknesses. Andre Drummond leads the NBA in rebounding, Reggie Jackson continues to develop as one of the best guards in the league, and Tobias Harris provides support on the wing. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Marcus Morris are no slouches either. Despite all of that, this starting core tops the league in minutes which could become an issue when playoffs starts and extends the season.

Detroit can hold themselves against any team, but facing a top one who is having success right now is too much of a task to accomplish.

Charlotte Hornets vs Orlando Magic – 01/22/16 Preview

The Charlotte Hornets (19-23) will travel to Orlando on Friday to battle the strugglingMagic (20-21). The Magic are the odds favorites to win (line: -3.5). Here is the projected lineup for tonight:

Projected Lineup

Starting Lineup

The Hornets are coming off a 109-95 loss on the road to the Oklahoma City Thunder this Wednesday and now having lost 10 of their last 12 games. They’re not looking like the promising young team from November that was 10-5. Red hot Kemba Walker was the leading scorer for Charlotte in the contest with a 21 pts contribution. Walker is averaging 19.9 points this season and his stats are beneficiating from the numerous games missed to injury and suspension of Al Jefferson. Jeremy Lin recorded 16 pts off the bench while Frank Kaminsky III put up 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in the defeat. Charlotte remains in last place of their division and will return at home to take on the Knicks Saturday before heading on a 4 game road trip next week in the West.

The Magic’s struggle continues and worsens week by week. Seen as a playoff favorite back in the fall, things seem to be getting worst for Orlando with its recent loss to the 76ers, 96-87 on Wednesday, the worst team in the NBA, 96-87. Elfrid Payton (21 pts, 10 rebounds), Nikola Vucevic (15 pts, 11 assists) and Tobias Harris (15 pts, 10 rebounds) all posted double-doubles in the defeat. The team shot only 39.3% from the field and 23.5% from long range. Star player Victor Oladipo missed his 2nd straight game and is questionable for Friday due to a knee injury. Orlando is 12-10 on the road.
