Boston won by an average of 19.7 points during its winning streak and guard Marcus Smart was one of the many players who enjoyed the break in the schedule for a team that played 14 of its first 23 games on the road. “Just to get our bodies back right and to get our minds right and get the focus back and regroup and everything like that,” Smart told reporters of the benefits. “… Sometimes you need that, especially with the schedule we’ve been having and constantly on the go.” The Knicks have lost three of their past four games and were outscored by 15 points in the third quarter of Monday’s 110-107 loss to the Washington Wizards. “We didn’t come out ready,” center Enes Kanter told reporters. “They had more energy and we just couldn’t respond.”

TV: 8 p.m. ET, TNT, NBCS Boston

ABOUT THE KNICKS (8-17): Veteran guard Courtney Lee made his season debut against Washington and scored seven points in 16 minutes off the bench. Lee was just thankful to be on the court after suffering a scary neck injury during a preseason practice when he collided with teammate Ron Baker. “It felt good to be honest, because (my teammates) have seen the battle that I was going up against,” Lee told reporters. “They saw how I came in the first day that it happened. I couldn’t move my whole upper body. So it felt good to be able to be back out there because I was definitely nervous that it could have been a career-ending injury. It felt good to have my guys behind me.”

ABOUT THE CELTICS (13-10): Small forward Gordon Hayward displayed his former All-Star form in Saturday’s 118-109 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves when he posted season highs of 30 points and eight assists and matched his season best of nine rebounds. Hayward was off to a slow start in his return from a horrific broken left ankle suffered in last season’s opener but flashed his former outside shooting prowess (4-of-5 from 3-point range) and ability to get to the line (10-of-10) against the Timberwolves. “It’s slowly coming along. I think my confidence is slowly coming back, too,” Hayward told reporters. “I’m still not where I want to be, but for sure, me attacking is better for our team and not being hesitant or passive.”

BUZZER BEATERS

1. The squads have split two meetings this season with the road team winning each time.

2. Boston SG Jaylen Brown (back) is hopeful of playing after missing the previous three games.

3. New York G Trey Burke (knee) will miss his second straight game.

Preview: Warriors at Knicks

Stephen Curry has settled into a consistently excellent level of play over the last several years and is capable of looking like the best player on the planet on any given night. Curry will try to follow up a 51-point effort when the Golden State Warriors begin a three-game road trip by visiting the New York Knicks on Friday.

To play this game at FanPicks…click here

Curry sat out the entire fourth quarter and ended up 11-of-16 from 3-point range in a 144-122 win over the Washington Wizards on Wednesday. “Everything felt in rhythm,” Curry told reporters. “You start to get good looks, you don’t have to force anything to find them and you can just repeat that same motion and it’s going in. The crowd gets into it, my teammates are encouraging me.” The Knicks are losers of four straight and did not look like a team that could keep pace with the Warriors while getting crushed 110-87 at Miami on Wednesday. “It was just so many holes in that dam,” New York coach David Fizdale told reporters. “We just, we let go of the rope tonight. This is the first time I felt like we let go and it got to us mentally and broke us in the third (quarter).”

TV: 7:30 p.m. ET, NBATV, NBCS Bay Area (Golden State), MSG (New York)

ABOUT THE WARRIORS (4-1): Curry’s big night on Wednesday overshadowed another stellar effort from Kevin Durant (30 points on 13-of-18 shooting, eight rebounds, seven assists), who was happy to let Curry keep shooting. “A professional scorer like that, you’re just kind of in the zone at that point,” Durant told reporters. “You know exactly where your points need to come from. It was a joy to be on the same court with that. That was sick.” Golden State shot 57.6 percent from the floor in the win and is averaging 119.4 points.

ABOUT THE KNICKS (1-4): Center Enes Kanter had a streak of four straight double-doubles to begin the season come to an end when he was held to eight points and five rebounds on Wednesday, and he was not happy with his team’s effort. “We just put our head down and we stopped competing,” Kanter told reporters. “Especially on the road it doesn’t matter if you’re down 15, up by 20, whatever. You just have to stay competing and just stay together, that’s the most important thing.” The bright spot came from second-year guard Damyean Dotson, who scored a season-high 20 points off the bench.

BUZZER BEATERS

1. Knicks SG Tim Hardaway Jr. was held to a season-low 14 points on Wednesday and is shooting 41.6 percent from the floor.

2. Warriors SG Klay Thompson is off to a slow start at 4-of-27 from 3-point range.

3. Golden State took the last eight in the series and won the two meetings last season by an average of 13 points.

One of the biggest off season and trade frenzy question was answered Monday morning when Kevin Durant announced that he was leaving the Oklahoma City Thunder to arch Western Conference rivals Golden State Warriors. Durant’s formal introduction at Oracle Arena Thursday confirmed OKC’s fans’ nightmare as the face of their franchise moved on.

The MVP of the 2013-2014 season and 4 time NBA scoring leader joined the team of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. This is a gigantic earthquake that has shaken the NBA this week! A few weeks after losing in seven games against the Warriors, Kevin Durant decided to join them!

NBA Free Agency

Dwayne Wade joins the Chicago Bulls

A leap in the salary cap has caused teams to hand out record amounts of money for players this time of the year in the NBA Free Agency Frenzy.

Dwyane Wade chose to leave the Miami Heat to join the Chicago Bulls. Wade, 34, was upset the lack of consideration of the Heat’s management. With this deal worth $47.5 million for 2 years, it will be interesting how the Bulls will cope with Wade’s experience and leadership after losing stars Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah.

He has been with the team since 2003 and won 3 NBA Championships during his amazing run.

Joakim Noah joins the New York Knicks

The French-American became officially a player of the New York Knicks after serving 9 seasons with the Chicago Bulls.

Sacramento Kings vs New York Knicks

Fantasy NBA Basketball Preview

Carmelo Anthony’s New York Knicks will be hosting the Sacramento Kings at the Madison Square Garden Sunday night, in a battle of two struggling teams having terrible second half of seasons. This Fantasy NBA Basketball preview is brought you by FanPicks. Come play some daily Fantasy Basketball at FanPicks to get free chance to win $1 Million dollars!

Fantasy NBA Basketball

New York is having a nightmare 2nd half of season and are bound to finish their 3rd straight losing season. Their star Carmelo Anthony is performing but without any help of his teammates. Earlier in the season, rookie Kristaps Porzingis seemed to be a rising star with unexpected high level performances. Unfortunately for the Knicks, it seems like he’s hit a wall. Porzingis averages over the last eleven games 12.9 pts with almost 5 boards and 1 block a game. For a rookie, those are pretty good numbers but clearly not enough for him and Anthony to carry the team through the season, furthermore the playoffs. New York absolutely needs to solidify their roster in the offseason to avoid another season like this one. The Knicks are ranking 25th in points scored and assists in the NBA. They’re coming back from a tough loss last night against the Washington Wizards, their 20th loss in the past 26 games. They unfortunately blew an 18 pt lead unable to be consistent throughout the game. The Knicks are 7-8 on 2nd half of back to back games.

Sacramento have won only twice in their last 13 games. The situation is critical in Sacramento as this dysfunctional season turned into a tough one to digest because of its 2nd half. The cold truth about the Kings’ team is that their defense is simply unable to keep up with their offense. The contrast is simply huge when you think they’re ranked 30th in the league in pts allowed. Then, you have on the other side, its offense led by DeMarcus Cousins whose numbers this year have been MVP class. On top of that, Rajon Rondo leads the NBA in assists. They’re slight favourites in this game and will hope to close out their season in decent fashion.

DFS NBA: Late Night Lineup

With a few different tip-off times tonight, there were a few options for DFS NBA contests. You had your 7 pm early starts, your 7:30 pm expresses, 8 pm, 9 pm and late-night 10:30 pm pools.

There were some quality early starts, but the Warriors, Rockets, and Spurs headlined the night for me from a fantasy perspective so I went with a late-night contest.

The Knicks are in town to face Golden State, which obviously won’t go well for New York. Steph Curry should dominate early and stack up the stat line before getting pulled late as per usual.

Curry will lead my roster tonight, as when picking from only three games you cannot miss on that many points when it’s sitting right there.

Thankfully, we don’t care about the points in the standings so the Knicks can be an attractive team as well.

Carmelo Anthony has been a monster and even though Kristaps Porzingis has cooled off a bit, he’s still an above-average multi-category fantasy pick.

Sasha Vujacic will be getting the start tonight, so at $3600 I had to take the chance.

  • Here’s the rest of my lineup
  • nbalatenight

When you have Curry, James Harden, Carmelo and to an extent Dwight Howard you’re gonna need more than one discount player, and if he sinks you it wasn’t worth it. So the key to a successful night is of course nailing your big ticket items, but finding nice value among the cheaper options.

Toney Douglas ($4500) Douglas scored 42 fantasy points against the Warriors during his last game. That’s no joke. But the fact that he had 19.2, 31.4 and 22.7 fantasy points in his previous three games respectively is what gives me the confidence to play the Pelican tonight.

Porzingis was sick earlier this week, so Derrick Williams could eat into those minutes again for New York. He’s scored 20+ fantasy points in four straight contests and could have plenty of opportunity late if it becomes a blowout.

Basketball Fantasy

L.A is somewhat in a good momentum having only lost once in their last 3 games. They will come into this game with more energy and confidence considering their extremely tough season and second last record in the league. Their big man Jordan Clarkson will be back in the lineup which will help his promising rookie teammate D’Angelo Russell, who’s been a standout this year and sheds bright lights on the Lakers’ future. Kobe will be playing his last game against the Knicks, a team he knows real well and had some career highlight reel notably scoring 61 points against them in 2009. He will try to avoid Camelo Anthony’s Knicks to sweep their season series after his great performance against the Cavaliers despite their loss on Thursday.

New York is currently going through rough times like their Western opponents tonight. They;ve only won 7 games out of their last 25. Unfortunately for them, the situation keeps on worsening as the losses are becoming uglier. Their offense is nonexistent and ranks 25th in the league after ranking in the middle all season until lately. With the recruitment of Tony Wroten earlier this week, they will get an offensive boost off the bench but in questionable health.

This should be a tight game with both teams struggling and playing inconsistent basketball down the stretch. game between two struggling teams, as the Knicks are a projected two-point favorite.

Fantasy Basketball Miami Heat vs New York Knicks preview

NBA Basketball Fantasy Basketball Preview

Things will heat up tonight in the Big Apple as the New York Knicks will be hosting the Miami Heat Sunday evening. Come play our NBA ‪‎Fantasy Basketball contest and YOU could win BIG at FanPicks.
Fantasy Basketball Miami heat vs New york Knicks

New York is on a terrible slump lately, having struggled both offensively and defensively. For some reason, they’ve won only 3 games out of the last 14. Even though they’ve won back to back games, the opponents were very weak. The Knicks will have a handful this game against Miami’s defense unit and their new offensive addition.

Miami has been playing very well lately despite dropping their last 2 games against the Celtics and the Warriors. Unfortunately for them, their leading scorer, Chris Bosh is under serious pressure from team doctors to sit down for the rest of the season. Dwayne Wade and the offensve has been getting unexpected great help from Hassan Whiteside and Goran Dragic. Whiteside played 4 straight games with an average of 19.5 pts and 17.3 rebounds while Dragic stepped up as well averaging 19.8 pts, 7 assists and 5.4 boards the last games. The real addition to their squad and danger for the Eastern Conference is the arrival of 7 time all star Joe Johnson. It will in interesting and essential addition for them

Projected Lineup

Fantasy Basketball

The Knicks have lost six of their last seven games and are falling further more into a deep and endless hole of agonizing year. They’ve suffered a 97-89 defeat at the hands of the Boston Celtic, on Tuesday. Arron Afflalo was New York’s most productive player in that game, scoring 18 points and going 7 of 15 from the field. Carmelo Anthony had a double-double with 16 points & 14 rebounds, while Robin Lopez also scored the double-double with 17 points & 13 boards. Coming off the bench, Sasha Vujacic collected 13 points. New York was terrible from the field, going 37.8% from the paint and 30% from long range. After missing the last four games because of a sore right groin, point guard Jose Calderon should make is return to the lineup tonight. The Knicks could really use his skills to get out of their rut.

The Pistons were also victim of the Celtics, on Wednesday night. They lost 102-95, dropping three of their last four contests. Reggie Jackson scored a team-leading 17 points, while adding 7 assists and draining three triples in the loss. Ersan Ilyasova and Andre Drummond each recorded 16 points apiece. Ilyasova logged in another monster night on the boards, adding 13 rebounds for the double-double. With 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists, Marcus Morris also saw is fantasy stock rise yesterday. The Pistons fell in eight place in the Eastern Conference, with the Hornets tailing one and half a game behind for a playoff spot.  Stan van Gundy’s team will be able to regain seventh place in the rankings, when they face the half game up Pacers on Saturday. Detroit will need to improve from beyond the arc, as they made 11 of 34 shots for a 32.4% average on Wednesday night. It’s consistent with their 33.5% season average, which ranks as seventh-worst in the league.

Boston Celtics vs New York Knicks Fantasy Basketball News – 02-02-16

The Boston Celtics (27-22) will play the host New York Knicks (23-27) at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday. FanPicks has this game on tap for tonight’s DFS action. Come play Fantasy Basketball at fanpicks.com.

Projected Lineup

Fantasy basketball

The Celtics enters this matchup winning five of their last six games. They last played against the Orlando Magic, who were on an eight-game losing streak, and lost the game 119 to 114. Boston’s offense has been incredible as of late. They are averaging over 113 points per game, in their last ten matchups.  Their success comes from a good distribution of the ball. They rank fifth in the National Basketball Association for assists. This team is one of the few right now that have no superstar among them, but are still able to play good team-basketball.

The Knicks have lost five of their last six games, with their lone win coming against the Phoenix Suns. It’s not going well for them, as they are steadily falling out of out of playoff contention. Their superstar, Carmelo Anthony, is currently out of the lineup; a likely reason why the Knicks are failing miserably to score points. New York is currently 21st in the NBA scoring. It will not get easier for them tonight against the Celtics, who boast one of the best defense in the league. On the bright side, Carmelo is expected to return tonight and they will be playing in their home stadium, Madison Square Gardens.
