After a humbling defeat a year ago in the postseason, Ole Miss looks to make amends when it takes on Oklahoma State in the Allstate Sugar Bowl Jan. 1 in New Orleans. The Rebels absorbed a 42-3 loss in last season’s Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl against TCU and now must contend with another talented team from the Big 12. The Cowboys started 10-0 and had hopes of reaching the College Football Playoff before ending the regular season with back-to-back losses.
Ole Miss junior defensive lineman Robert Nkemdiche – the team’s best defensive player – fell 15 feet twice from a window in mid-December and had to be hospitalized. The team announced Dec. 20 that Nkemdiche, who was charged with misdemeanor marijuana possession following the incident, will be suspended for the bowl game. “I have learned a valuable lesson in the last week, and I look forward to showing NFL personnel that this is not representative of my true character,” said Nkemdiche, who announced he will enter the NFL draft, where he likely will be a top-10 pick. “I want to thank my coaches, my teammates and Rebel Nation for their support these past three years, and I look forward to making them proud for years to come.”
Oklahoma State has some injury issues of its own with quarterback Mason Rudolph employing a walking boot on his right foot with the bowl game less than two weeks away. Still, coach Mike Gundy seems to be unconcerned about the status of Rudolph and two of his weapons, tight end Blake Jarwin (ribs) and fullback Jeremy Seaton (undisclosed). Rudolph led the Big 12 with 57 passes of 20 yards or more and finished his sophomore regular season with 3,591 passing yards, 21 touchdowns and nine interceptions.
OKLAHOMA STATE Season Overview (10-2, 7-2 Big 12): The Cowboys rank in the top 10 nationally in passing yards (seventh) and points per game (ninth). They have tons of weapons on offense, but sophomore wide receiver James Washington (52 catches, 1,077 yards, 10 touchdowns) is the best of the bunch. Oklahoma State’s running game is relatively mediocre with only Chris Carson (504 yards) having amassed more than 300 and the team averaging just 3.7 yards per carry.
OLE MISS Season Overview (9-3, 6-2 SEC): The Rebels’ offense is centered around dynamic receiver Laquon Treadwell (76 catches, 1,082 yards, eight TDs), who had found the end zone in six straight games prior to a quiet day against Mississippi State to end the regular season. Chad Kelly threw 27 touchdowns during the year, including three in a signature win against Alabama back in September. A one-point overtime loss to a strong Arkansas team is the only thing separating Ole Miss from entering the postseason on a five-game winning streak.
Texas A&M Aggies versus Mississippi Rebels
College Football DFS Picks 10-24-2015
From college football the Mississippi Rebels will be hosting the Texas A&M Aggies. Fantasy football draft GMs can tune to ESPN TV on Saturday night October 24th at 7PM Eastern Time to follow the results of their roster picks.
The teams met last season with Ole Miss posting the 35-20 upset road victory. Texas A&M outgained the Rebels by 120 yards but turnovers were a factor in the game as the Aggies had a -3 margin for the game. Texas A&M had no success running the football with 54 yards rushing on 35 carries.
Texas A&M is looking to rebound after a 41-23 home defeat last week to the Alabama Crimson Tide. The loss dropped the club to 5-1 on the year. Alabama just looked too big and strong for the Aggies. Texas A&M had no luck rushing with 32 yards on 25 carries. The Aggies had no answer for the Crimson Tide’s rushing attack as they posted 258 yards for over 5 ½ yards per carry. Texas A&M is ranked 96th in the nation in run defense by allowing an average of 195 yards per game on the ground.
Mississippi fell to 5-2 as they traveled to Memphis and were beaten 37-24 in an upset loss. Surprisingly an SEC power like the Rebels couldn’t run a lick against an AAC team as Ole Miss had 40 yards on the ground on 24 carries. Defensively they had trouble defending Memphis quarterback Paxton Lynch who threw for 384 yards and three touchdowns with just one pick. The Rebels had their problems extending drives by going 4 of 13 on third down. Mississippi is 72nd in the nation in defending the pass as they surrender 229 yards per game.
Texas A&M Aggies QB:
The Aggies starting quarterback is hitting on 61% of his throws this year for 1537 yards with 14 touchdowns and 5 picks. Allen had a poor game in the loss to the Crimson Tide last week by completing 20 of his 40 throws for 263 yards with a touchdown and three interceptions. He has shown some run ability like he did in the win against Mississippi St three weeks ago as he rushed for 65 yards on 12 carries. Allen is just a sophomore.
Texas A&M Aggies RB:
The Aggies senior running back has 108 carries on the campaign for 476 yards with four touchdowns. In the passing game Carson has a receiving touchdown as he grabbed 13 balls for 116 yards.
Texas A&M WR:
Kirk leads Texas A&M with 39 catches for 609 yards with four touchdowns. He is averaging 15.6 yards per reception on the campaign. In the loss to Alabama, Kirk had seven receptions for 90 yards with no touchdown grabs for the second straight game.
This junior wide receiver has been a big play threat for the Aggies as he is averaging 20.9 yards per reception. Reynolds has 21 receptions for 439 yards with three catches. He has come up big in the three games against the SEC with 13 catches for 197 yards with 19.7 yards per reception average.
Mississippi Rebels QB:
The junior signal caller has completed 65% of his throws for 2234 yards with 16 touchdowns and seven picks. In the loss to Memphis Kelly went 33 of 47 for 372 yards with two touchdowns and two picks. He has six interceptions thrown over his past four games.
Mississippi Rebels RB:
Walton has 58 carries for 331 yards with three touchdowns. He is rushing for 5.7 yards per run on the season. It was only 7 carries for Walton last week for 39 yards. It was a struggle three weeks back at Florida with 23 yards rushing on nine carries for 2.6 yards per attempt.
Mississippi Rebels WR:
The junior wide out has 49 receptions for 654 yards with four touchdowns. He is averaging 13.3 yards per reception on the campaign. Treadwell had a season high 14 catches for 144 yards and a touchdown.

Ole Miss is undefeated at 4-0 with SEC conference wins at Alabama and last week they went into Vanderbilt and came away with a 27-16 victory. The Rebels had trouble separating from the Commodores as the game was tied at 13-13 midway through the third period. Mississippi struggled offensively in the win with 3.6 yards per carry from their run game and 3 of 13 conversions on third down. They also lost the turnover margin by -2. Prior to this Vanderbilt game the Rebels have piled up the points with 73 on Fresno St in week two and 43 points on the Alabama defense in week three. Defensively Ole Miss is 34th ranked in points allowed at 19.2 per game.
Florida is also 4-0 as they enter play on Saturday. They are 2-0 in the SEC with a 14-9 road win at Kentucky and last week they pull out a wild 28-27 home victory to Tennessee. Down 27-14 late in the fourth quarter the Gators scored two late touchdowns including a 63 yard TD reception with a minute and a half left for the game winner. Opponents score just 18 points a game on the Gators defense ranking 30th best in the nation.

The junior running back leads the Gators in carries with 59 with 256 yards and five touchdowns. He has seen significant action in all three years at the school. He ran for 102 yards and nearly 5.4 yards a carry last week against Tennessee with two touchdowns.
Florida Gators WR:
Callaway has made big plays in the passing game during his freshman season as he is averaging 19.1 yards per catch. He has nine grabs for 172 yards and a touchdown. Last week against Tennessee Callaway caught five balls for 112 yards and a touchdown.
