Fantasy NBA Basketball

New York is having a nightmare 2nd half of season and are bound to finish their 3rd straight losing season. Their star Carmelo Anthony is performing but without any help of his teammates. Earlier in the season, rookie Kristaps Porzingis seemed to be a rising star with unexpected high level performances. Unfortunately for the Knicks, it seems like he’s hit a wall. Porzingis averages over the last eleven games 12.9 pts with almost 5 boards and 1 block a game. For a rookie, those are pretty good numbers but clearly not enough for him and Anthony to carry the team through the season, furthermore the playoffs. New York absolutely needs to solidify their roster in the offseason to avoid another season like this one. The Knicks are ranking 25th in points scored and assists in the NBA. They’re coming back from a tough loss last night against the Washington Wizards, their 20th loss in the past 26 games. They unfortunately blew an 18 pt lead unable to be consistent throughout the game. The Knicks are 7-8 on 2nd half of back to back games.

Sacramento have won only twice in their last 13 games. The situation is critical in Sacramento as this dysfunctional season turned into a tough one to digest because of its 2nd half. The cold truth about the Kings’ team is that their defense is simply unable to keep up with their offense. The contrast is simply huge when you think they’re ranked 30th in the league in pts allowed. Then, you have on the other side, its offense led by DeMarcus Cousins whose numbers this year have been MVP class. On top of that, Rajon Rondo leads the NBA in assists. They’re slight favourites in this game and will hope to close out their season in decent fashion.

The Celtics enters this matchup winning five of their last six games. They last played against the Orlando Magic, who were on an eight-game losing streak, and lost the game 119 to 114. Boston’s offense has been incredible as of late. They are averaging over 113 points per game, in their last ten matchups.  Their success comes from a good distribution of the ball. They rank fifth in the National Basketball Association for assists. This team is one of the few right now that have no superstar among them, but are still able to play good team-basketball.

The Knicks have lost five of their last six games, with their lone win coming against the Phoenix Suns. It’s not going well for them, as they are steadily falling out of out of playoff contention. Their superstar, Carmelo Anthony, is currently out of the lineup; a likely reason why the Knicks are failing miserably to score points. New York is currently 21st in the NBA scoring. It will not get easier for them tonight against the Celtics, who boast one of the best defense in the league. On the bright side, Carmelo is expected to return tonight and they will be playing in their home stadium, Madison Square Gardens.

Starting LineupThe Celtics meet the New York Knicks are looking forward to breaking a three game losing streak.  When they last played together, the Celtics took the win.  Boston has been unable to score over 100 points in their last three straight loses, and desperately need to fuel their offense coupled with better defensive fluidity in an effort to go for the win.  The Celtics are healthy and injury free with guards Isaiah Thomas and Avery Bradley leading the offensive game.  They have been averaging 21.1 and 14.7 points per game, respectively.  While Jae Crowder and Marcus Smart drive the defensive game with both players leading the Celtics in steals with 1.9 and 1.8 per game respectively.

The Knicks on the other hand have been victorious in their last 5 games driven by an aggressive offense.  Players like Carmelo Anthony and rookie sensation Kristaps Porzingis have been playing strong consistent games with Anthony averaging 21.7 points per game and Porzingis scoring in the double digits on his last six games.  If they can keep this up, they may be able to overcome the Celtics, and bring the series to 1-1.

Miami Heat vs. New York Knicks

The Miami Heat (21-13) will host the New York Knicks (17-19) on Wednesday evening. is proud to announce its RotoPicker free to use tool, which allows you to create winning line ups and dominate your fantasy basketball competition.  Play the most exciting contest, including the newest $10K Grand Action and Point Spread contests only at the premiere daily fantasy basketball site

Fantasy basketballThe Knicks were victors of their second straight game on Tuesday, defeating the Atlanta Hawks on the road, 107-101. Carmelo Anthony and Arron Afflalo both contributed the most points for the team with 23 apiece, with Anthony adding 11 rebounds for the double-double. Rookie Kristaps Porzingis contributed a double-double of his own, also hauling in 11 boards to go along with his 17 points. Derrick Williams came off the bench for 15 points as the Knicks have now matched their win total for their entire 2014-15 campaign. New York currently sits at 12th place in the Eastern Conference, but with so little room separating the contenders at the top, all it takes is a strong mid-season run to establish themselves as a lower-seeded Playoff hopeful.

The Heat, first place in the Southeast Division, have also managed to string together a series of wins in the last week, the third of which took place on Monday night with an overtime victory over the visiting Indiana Pacers. Chris Bosh dropped 31 points and had 11 rebounds in the 103-100 win, shooting 13 of 16 from the free throw line in the process. Dwayne Wade added 27 points and 8 rebounds in a match-up that saw Miami shoot only 37.8% from the field, their poorest performance this season. That statistic lies in stark contrast with what they typically muster from the paint, as they rank fourth-best in field goal shooting in the league, averaging 46.2% per game. With the win the Heat improve to 15-7 at home, while sitting at 6-6 on the road. Those seldom road games are about to change for Miami, as they will play 10 of their next 11 contests away from American Airlines Arena.

Knicks versus Hawks

The New York Knicks (16-19) will face the Atlanta Hawks (20-13) at the Phillips Arena in Atlanta  on Tuesday evening. Dominate your competitions with our free to use RotoPicker tool, create the winning fantasy NBA contest lineups for
Fantasy basketballThe Knicks beat the Hawks on Sunday, and will come in with confidence knowing they found an answer to the Hawks style of play. Arron Afflalo came up big time after he has slumped the past few games, scoring a team-high and season-high of 38 points. Keeping up this offensive flow will be crucial to success, as that has been the downfall of the Knicks often this season. This is their first night of back-to-back away games.

The Hawks utilized Paul Millsap to the fullest on Sunday, but couldn’t come away with the win. They will need to use Millsap again as he is their biggest threat to score. He had 19 points, nine rebounds, and six assists on Sunday–this led the team in all categories. This also occured in the Hawks second win against New York this season, so it can prove to be successful if their defense can hold. The Hawks will have the home court advantage this time around, but they will need to find a way to come together and flow better in order to beat the Knicks.

NBA Fantasy Basketball Draft News 10-9-2015

New York Knicks Have Hope for Playoffs in Weak Eastern Conference

The New York Knicks were very much a disappointment in the 2014-15 season. They finished the year with a record of 17-65 and were the second worst team in the NBA by one game over the 16-66 Minnesota Timberwolves. The last team to make the playoffs in the East last year was the Brooklyn Nets who finished at 38-44. So a 22-25 game improvement could position the Knicks back into the playoff picture.

There is much to improve from this club. They desperately need scoring as they ranked 30th and last in the NBA in points scored per game (91.9) and were 28th and third last in the league in shooting percentage (42.8%).  Defense was bad as well as New York was 27th in field goal defense by allowing 46% shooting and were the worst three point shooting defending team in the league by giving up 38% from beyond the arc to opponents. Derek Fisher returns for his second year as the Knicks head coach. General manager Phil Jackson has told the media he will help Fisher with his coaching. Fisher has been involved recently in a scandal with NBA veteran Matt Barnes over a woman. The additions of Arron Afflalo, Derrick Williams and Robin Lopez will improve the Knicks.

New York Knicks PG:

Jose Calderon

The Spaniard is a 34 year old point guard who will be challenged defensively covering the twenty somethings. He averaged 30 minutes a game last year and shot 41.5%. The expectation is that Calderon could be relegated to a reserve player at some point during the season.

New York Knicks SG:

Arron Afflalo

The veteran shooting guard at 29 yards old has bounced around the league. He was acquired from the Portland Trailblazers last year. He shot well from the three point line with Portland making 41.4% from beyond the arc. The question is will Afflalo get enough shot attempts in New York with Carmelo Anthony on the court. He is still a good acquisition by New York because Anthony may be willing to pass to him to avoid double and triple teams.

New York Knicks SF:

Carmelo Anthony

The All Star enters his 12th year in the league and is already 31 years old. He battled through injuries last year that forced him to miss 44 games. Three seasons ago Anthony missed 15 games and four seasons ago he missed 27 games. Last year Carmelo hit 44.4% from the field and 34.1% from three point range. Two seasons ago he averaged 38.7 minutes a game which was a career high.

New York Knicks PF:

Derrick Williams

Williams was a first round pick of the Minnesota Timberwolves during the 2011 season. He spent time in Sacramento the past two seasons. In 74 games with the Kings, Williams averaged 44.7% shooting from the floor and nearly 20 points. His rebounding numbers have been very disappointing. Williams was a big time player in college at Arizona but he played in rather small markets in the NBA. The buzz in New York and Madison Square Garden could spark Williams’s career and we like his move to the Knicks.

New York Knicks C:

Robin Lopez

Now in his seventh year Robin Lopez plays for his fourth team in his career. He is another former first round draft pick on the Knicks roster. Last year with the Trailblazers Lopez played nearly 28 minutes and averaged 9.6 points a game and hit 53.5% from the field. He rebounds and is a defensive presence in point prevention so he will get plenty of playing time in New York.
