The Wizards, despite sitting four games out of postseason entry with five games remaining in their season, still haven’t been eliminated from the Playoff picture, but have lost three of their last four match-ups, including a road game at the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday, 114-109. Fantasy Basketball

Washington broke a short-lived two-game losing skid on Sunday with a 101-88 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers. John Wall led the charge with 22 points, 13 assists, five rebounds and a steal, with his seven turnovers serving as the lone blemish on an otherwise stellar performance. Marcin Gortat followed suit with his own double-double, posting 16 points, 10 rebounds, a steal and two blocks. Otto Porter, Jr. was not far behind with 14 points, six rebounds and a steal. Nene Hilario tallied 10 points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals. The newly-acquired J.J. Hickson paced the bench with 14 points, five rebounds and two steals. It was an excellent evening from the field overall from the Wizards, who were able to garner a 54.2 percent success rate on their 72 shots. The Wizards remain in the fourth spot of the Eastern Conference’s Southeast Division, and are currently trailing the eighth-seeded Detroit Pistons by 2.5 games. They’ve came victorious in six of their last eight games, including three straight away from home.

Golden State prevailed over the Philadelphia 76ers in their latest contest, 117-105. A game that initially was suppose to be a blowout for the Warriors, considering the diametrically opposite records of both teams, didn’t turned out that way. Coach Kerr received another excellent effort from Klay Thompson, who collected 40 points, two rebounds and a block. It was notably the second straight game in which he’s hit the 40-point mark. Stephen Curry was calmer in comparison, contributing 20 points, eight assists, three rebounds and four steals. Draymond Green pitched in with one of his regular triple-doubles, gathering 13 points, 11 rebounds, 11 assists, a steal and three blocks. Harrison Barnes put up 10 points, two rebounds, an assist and a steal, while Mareese Speights paced the reserves with 17 points, seven boards and three assists. The Warriors are still the best in the Western Conference. They’ve now rattled off four straight wins since being dominated by the Spurs a little over two weeks ago, 87-79, and are still perfect 35-0 at home this season.

NBA Fantasy Basketball Projections

A you’ve been noticed, we’ve been keeping track of the Golden State Warriors’ game recently because of their historic run and on pace to become soon, the best team in NBA’s regular season history. The Warriors are coming into this game after a win over the 76ers Sunday night, 117-105. Everyone expected a blowout considering the complete opposite records and talents of the 2 teams this year. However, it was an outstanding game by Klay Thompson, who tallied 40 pts, 2 boards and a block was quite impressive, especially because it was the 2nd consecutive game he’s had 40 pts or more. His splash brother, Stephen Curry was a little quieter with 20 pts, 8 assists, 3 boards and 4 steals. Draymond Green pitched in with his usual triple-double performance, putting down 13 points, 11 boards, 11 assists, a steal and 3 blocks.

Golden State still leads the Western Conference with a 4.5-game margin lead over the 2nd seeded San Antonio Spurs. They’re on another game winning streak since being dominated by the Spurs with 4 W the past week. They’re 35-0 this season and frankly will most likely be 36-0 by tomorrow night without a doubt.

The Wizards broke a brief 2 game losing streak with a win last night  over the Lakers, 101-88. John Wall led the charge with 22 pts, 13 assists, 5 boards and a steal, but 7 turnovers surprisingly. Marcin Gortat had a double-double performance with 16 pts, 10 boards, a steal and 2 blocks. It was a decent night for the Wizards as they will hope to keep their composure and shoot the way they did last night, in their 54.2% success rate from the field.

They’re currently in 4th in the Eastern Conference’s South East Division and 2.5 games back from a playoff spot behind the Detroit Pistons currently sitting in 8th. They’ve won 6 of their last 8 including 3 of those on the road but are playing against a monster that wants to make history tonight.

Fantasy Basketball NBA Preview

Washington Wizards vs Los Angeles Lakers

Kobe Bryant’s struggling Los Angeles Lakers will host the travelling Washington Wizards at Staples Center on Sunday. FanPicks is proud to bring you this Fantasy Basketball NBA preview. Take a break from March Madness and come play in our NBA Magic Million contest where you can win up to a $1 million this week at FanPicks.

Fantasy Basketball NBA

Los Angeles have continued their poor form and lost 6 of their last 7 games. Their only win in that span came against a shorthanded Memphis Grizzlies squad. The main problems are endless with this Lakers team as they rank in the bottom 4 in pts scored, pts allowed and assists per game. Despite the great improvement of Julius Randle, coming off his 1st career triple-double in their most recent loss to the Denver Nuggets, their rookie star D’Angelo Russell got injured in that game and is unlikely to come back for this game as he continues the rehab of his ankle injury. The Lakers have much less to lose in this game than the Wizards, making them an unfortunate huge underdog for this game.

The Washington Wizards are now 3 games out of the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference with only 10 games left in the regular season. That same squad finished in the top 4 last campaign which shows a regression and is a huge disappointment for them. The biggest issue with this team is the rebounding as they rank 29th in the league in boards per contest. Their offense is stacked with John Wall and Bradley Beal but are clearly one big man away in the frontcourt from being a huge contender in the Eastern Conference. They are clear favourites for this matchup with way more motivation than the Lakers to get the W in this Sunday night matchup.

Daily Fantasy Basketball Lineup

While getting the most points does equate to winning, nailing down the optimal daily fantasy basketball lineup isn’t an exact science. Everyone has a different philosophy as to what the best strategy when creating a team is. Is it stack the top? Is it pile up as many high-priced stars as you can and then fill in the blanks with the cheapest options and hope for the best? Perhaps a well-balanced squad from top to bottom.

Well, that’s what I’m here for. I display different methods of attacking your DFS contest, and today was no different. Often I leave money on the table to display the true power of finding the best value picks, but sometimes I go for the gusto and max out. That’s what I did today. The recipe today was to start off with a bang, balance that out with a ton of value picks, and top it off with the best of what’s left.

How I began: I was really excited to have DeMarcus Cousins on my team tonight, and Giannis Antetokounmpo is also a must have at this point. That already occupied more than 30% of my cap space with a total of $21300 spent on the two big-men.

So obviously, I immediately went straight to the value picks. Bulls PF Bobby Portis led that list, as his 25.26 fantasy point average over his last three games is a great trade for his $4400 salary.

Let’s take a look at the rest of my daily fantasy basketball lineup.

nbalineup

Hollis Thompson at $4200 was my next snatch up. His last 10 games have been impressive, and 25 fantasy points tonight is not out of the question for the 76er.

I thought JaMychal Green could of been a solid pick tonight, but his price tag was a slight bit too high for my liking, and opted for the $1200 cheaper Myles Turner.

He has been averaging 23.43 fantasy points over his last 6 games, and that would be considerably higher without his 14.1 FP output against the Celtics.

After all my lower tier picks, I had just enough money to fit John Wall under the cap and insure another 40 points to my squad.

As usual, we’ll see how it plays out by the end of the night. Good luck to all.

NBA Weekend Fantasy Basketball Recap 2/29

This NBA Weekend Fantasy Basketball recap is brought you by Fanpicks. Come enjoy some daily fantasy basketball action and WIN big at www.fanpicks.com

Friday

This past weekend was filled with fast paced games with huge final scores. It started Friday with the Mavs beating the Nuggets in overtime 122-116 and the Clippers over the Kings with 117-107 in regular gameplay. When you see huge point totals like this, it is usually accompanied by big fantasy numbers from the game leaders, and these games did not disappoint.

The first game saw Dirk Nowitzki put up 20 points with 13 rebounds, 4 assists, and a block for a total of 32 fantasy points. But the real stars of the night were DeMarcus Cousins and Chris Paul. Cousins put up 26 point with 15 rebounds and 9 assists, just short of the triple double. He ended the day with 42 fantasy points. On the other side of the ball Chris Paul put up a huge 40 points, coupled with 8 rebounds and 13 assists, pulling more than his share with the absence of Blake Griffin. Chris Paul led the entire weekend with that performance totaling 52.5 fantasy points.

Saturday

Saturday saw even more huge games with the premiere matchup of the weekend Golden State at Oklahoma City. That game did not disappoint with a game-winning shot to end overtime by Steph Curry. The final score was 121-118 and 5 different players in that game exceeded 30 fantasy points. A lineup stacked in that game was bound to generate huge value in your daily fantasy NBA contest.

Durant and Curry led the game scoring 46 and 45.5 fantasy points respectively, Durant hitting 7 three pointers and Curry hitting 12. While only scoring 2 points the entire game, Draymond Green had 14 rebounds, 14 assists, 6 steals, and 4 blocks earning himself some serious fantasy value at 37.5 fantasy points. Ibaka tallied 20 rebounds and 15 game points while Westbrook had 7 rebounds, 13 assists, and 26 points for great fantasy value.

Beyond this game, a couple of key picks on the night were Karl Anthony-Towns and Pau Gasol. Gasol actually led the night with 50 fantasy points coming from a triple double of 22 points, 16 rebounds, and 14 assists. Towns had 30 points, 15 rebounds, and 4 assists totaling 43 fantasy points.

Sunday

While Sunday had the same huge point totals with the Magic winning against the 76ers 128-101, the Mavs over the Wolves 128-101, the Pistons over the Raptors 114-101, and the Blazers over the Pacers 111-102. Surprisingly however, there huge point totals did not lead to huge fantasy value all around. No player exceeded the 40 fantasy point threshold on Sunday.

John Wall led the league yesterday with 35.5 fantasy point coming from 21 points, 7 rebounds, and 13 assists. Parsons from the Mavs had 32.5 fantasy point from 29 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists. Finally Lillard and Horford each had 32 fantasy points, Lilllard’s coming from 33 points scored while Horford coupled 13 game points with 16 rebounds.

NBA/CBB All-Star Game Cross Sport Recap

If you were looking for Fantasy Basketball to play yesterday for the NBA All-Star game, Fanpicks was the only place to satisfy your needs with our exclusive Cross Sport Daily Fantasy Basketball tournaments. We offered several different NBA/NHL and NBA/CBB cross sport cash drafts, here’s what it took to win big money yesterday.

The game ended in a massive 196-173 point total, in favor of the West. However, fantasy point totals were not as high as you would expect with this high scoring of a game with points being spread out throughout the teams.

There was very little defense played all around with only 2 blocks in the entire game, however, out lead scorer Russell Westbrook only took this position at the top of the charts due to his defensive game play adding 5 steals on top of his 31 points, 5 assists, and 8 rebounds. Paul George did what he could to get you fantasy points from the losing side of the game scoring a huge 41 points. Chris Paul brought his value as the point man, racking up 16 assists and Drummond led the centers with 16 points and 13 rebounds for the only other double-double in the game besides Chris Paul.

However, the whole idea behind cross sport is you can’t win with one sport alone, its both that contribute to your point total. In your NBA/CBB cross sport contest, NBA matters more with the 6 roster spots, but a little value at the 3 CBB roster spots could go a long way. Below are the top scorers from college yesterday. With the right picks there was a lot of value to be found, but with the unpredictability of college sports, its hard to determine who will be the top scorers will be in the league, let alone on each individual team.

Projected Lineup

Starting Lineup
The Wizards are coming back from New York, having bested the Knicks this past Tuesday, 111-108 and improving to a 12-11 record on the road. Washington shot 50% from the field and 61.5% from long range, seeing all their starters in double digits points. Their leader, John Wall tallied with 28 pts and 17 assists, shooting 10 out of 24 from the court. Wall averages a solid 20.1 pts per game with 9.9 assists having played in all the games this year for the team. Bradley Beal had a solid performance as well, adding up 26 pts, shooting 5 out of 8 from long range. Big man Marcin Gortat had a double double performance with 14 pts and 10 boards. Washington resides in 10th place in the Eastern Conference, trailing the Pistons by only 2.5 games for the 8th place and will hope to bounce back after this week’s all star weekend.

Milwaukee ended a 5 game losing streak this Tuesday by besting the Boston Celtics in a nailbiter, 112-111. Greg Monroe not only came off the bench but added a team leading 29 pts and 12 boards for a solid double-double, shooting 13 of 21 from the court. Michael Carter-Williams, added a solid 16 pts, 6 boards and 5 assists while Khris Middleton put up 20 pts, 5 boards and assists. The Bucks sit in the 13th place in the Eastern Conference coming into this game, having had a very disappointing 1st half of the season, standing 7th worst in the league in scoring with an average of online 98.1 pts per game.

Golden State Warriors vs Washington Wizards 02/02/16 Preview

Golden State Warriors (44-4) at Washington Wizards (21-25) (8 pm EST)

The most unbeatable teams always seem to fall to the league’s bottom dwellers. That’s just the way it goes in sports. This #NBA season, the Golden State Warriors led by reigning #NBA #MVP Steph Curry have only four losses in 48 games played. 44-4. No matter what it stands for, that’s an impressive stat. In this case, winning basketball games; which isn’t exactly easy no matter who you’re playing against. This is the #NBA after all, and that’s why they have matched the all-time record.

The Washington Wizards on the other hand are…not good. You would think with Curry on the road and no hometown fans to pump him up the Wizards may have a slightly better chance tonight right…? Wrong…They are worse at home (10-15) then on the road (11-10) and the Washington crowd is probably there because they are hyped to watch the will-be 2016 #NBA #MVP Steph Curry.

The -10.5 line is fair, but I think the Warriors will eat it up quick.  I expect the normal Curry routine in this one: scores 30+ points and a handful of assists before he watches his teammates close out the Wizards from the bench during the fourth-quarter as Golden State collects their 45th win of the season.

Golden State recorded 68 assists on 89 baskets, and drained 29 of 59 three-pointers between in their last two. They also extended their streak of at least 30 assists to seven games and at least 10 three-pointers to 10.

The last #NBA team to record 30-plus assists seven games in a row was the 1993-94 Warriors.

Draymond Green had 20 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists to tie a 55-year-old franchise record last time out   (ninth triple-double), and Klay Thompson is always one to watch for – making 14 of 18 shots for 34 points himself.

John Wall is obviously Washington’s best player, but Marcin Gortat could pile up the boards tonight and take advantage of a loose Warriors defense for some points if the score is wide.

Advice: All the Warriors are options as the Wizard defense isn’t exactly impenetrable.  Use their depth players wisely to fill holes in your lineup and maybe get a better performance than you would elsewhere based on this matchup.

Washington Wizards vs Houston Rockets – 01/30/16 Preview

2016-01-30 5-19-12 PM

The Wizards have won 5 of their last 7 games before their postponed game against the Utah Jazz last week. They have unfortunately been on a slump since and lost 3 straight, allowing opponents over 110 pts per game. Their defense is ranked 24th in the league in pts allowed and their poor performances are putting their playoff contention in danger. The Rockets and James Harden will be another tough test for their defense, being one of the top offensive teams in the league.

The Rockets are playing this game back to back from a tough loss last night to the Thunder. It was a close game until Dwight Howard got unfortunately ejected in the 3rd quarter. The Rockets are a great offensive team and feared among the NBA but lack on the defensive side like the Wizards and ranked 27th in NBA. This will clearly be a high scoring game where Houston is a clear favorite..

Projected LineupStarting Lineup

The Heat have dropped 5 of their last 6 games. They lost 91-71, at home on Tuesday night against the Milwaukee Bucks. Both Chris Bosh and Hassan Whiteside had 23 points apiece in the loss, with Whiteside 18 rebounds onto his stat sheet. The center ranks 4th in the NBA for rebounds, averaging 11.3 per game. Miami has the worst percentage of shots from the field this season, with a 36.5% efficiency. But on the bright side, they maintain the 2nd best defense in the league, giving up an average 95.5 points per game. They will be undergoing 5 game East road trip, during which they’ll tangle with the Bulls and Raptors before concluding with another match-up with the Bucks on January 29th.

The Wizard entered the weekend riding a 4 game winning streak, but have since dropped 2 in a row. They hold a 9-13 record at home this season. Washington suffered a 108-98 loss this past Monday against the Portland Trail Blazers. Shooting guard Garrett Temple did his best to keep his team competitive with an 18 points performance. Marcin Gortat also participated to the production, putting up 16 points and hauling in 13 boards. All-Star John Wall had an underwhelming 9 points. The Wizard allowed an average of 104.2 points per game, ranking them 24th in the league in that category.

Starting LineupThe Wizards find themselves on a three-game winning streak following impressive road wins over the Orlando Magic and Chicago Bulls. Wednesday night saw the team return to Verizon Center to defeat the Milwaukee Bucks, 106-101, to remain steady at fourth place in the Southeast Division. John Wall led Washington with 19 points and 8 assists, while Ramon Sessions came off the bench for 15 points and 5 assists. Bradley Beal finally returned to action for the Wizards, netting 11 points in 23 minutes played. Beal had been sidelined with a left leg injury for the last 16 games, and is still the team’s second-leading scorer, averaging 19.3 points per game, second only to Wall. Marcin Gortat found himself out of action for the second straight game with a left knee infection. The Polish center, averaging 9.7 rebounds per contest this season, is listed as day-to-day heading into Friday’s match-up.

The Pacers remain consistent in their inconsistency as of late, alternating wins and losses in the last week, with the Wednesday night trip to Boston seeing them fall to the Celtics, 103-94. Paul George had 23 points and 8 rebounds while shooting 7 of 20 from the field to lead Indiana in production. Ian Mahinmi put up a 10 point, 10 rebound double-double and Monta Ellis went 0-for-5 from beyond the arc as the team holds onto a tenuous grip of fifth place in the Eastern Conference. The Pacers shot an embarrassing 5-for-30 from long range, an area where they maintain a respectable 35.5% average on the season. After going 11-2 in the month of November, the team has struggled entering the new year, finishing December 7-9 and now sitting at 4-3 in January. 9-12 on the road, the Pacers have a difficult four-game Western trip ahead of them next week which includes a stop in Golden State to take on the Warriors.

All five Milwaukee starters posted double digits on Tuesday, with Giannis Antetokounmpo leading the charge with 29 points and 10 rebounds, shooting 10-of-14 from the floor. Greg Monroe contributed his own double-double with 17 points and 12 boards in a game that saw the team make only 3 of 13 attempts from long range. Khris Middleton, who has been the team’s leading scorer all season with an average of 16.9 points per contest, was true to form with 16 points in this outing.

The Wizards return home after a two-game road trip that saw them log impressive wins against the Orlando Magic and Chicago Bulls.
