New York Knicks vs Chicago Bulls Preview

The city of Chicago is electric after the Cubs won the World Series on Wednesday, but the baseball fever won’t keep basketball fans from anticipating the return of Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah. The two former Chicago stars will take the United Center floor for the first time in visitor’s uniforms when the Bulls host the New York Knicks on Friday (Enter Contest).

Rose and Noah helped lead Chicago to its best post-Jordan records but never managed to take the team to the NBA Finals before injuries and ineffectiveness marred the end of each of their respective tenures with the team. While the Bulls don’t seem to be missing the two former stars much on the court, the Knicks aren’t exactly surging to new heights with the two in the lineup. New York dropped three of its first four games, with all three losses coming by double figures, and is struggling on both ends. The Knicks allowed at least 32 points in each of the first three quarters at home on Wednesday before the Houston Rockets took their foot off the gas and breezed to a 118-99 win.

ABOUT THE KNICKS (1-3)

New coach Jeff Hornacek is trying to institute team president Phil Jackson’s triangle offense into the attack, but it doesn’t look like the system of play was well received. Point guard Courtney Lee was vocal about this system not working among the team. The Knicks have scored over a 100 points in a single game since the beginning of the season; a 111-104 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies.

Rose is averaging 16.3 points but recorded almost as many turnovers (eight) as assists (nine) in the first four games while Noah was held scoreless in two of the first four contests. Kristaps Porzingis averaged 18.3 points in the first three games but slumped to three points on 0-of-4 shooting Wednesday. New York took three of the four meetings last season behind 24.3 points on 50.6 percent shooting from Carmelo Anthony in the four contests.

ABOUT THE BULLS (3-1)

The team picked a good time to suffer its first loss on Wednesday, with much of the print and internet real estate in the Chicago area dominated by the Cubs winning their first World Series since 1908. Anyone in the area that did tune into the Bulls broadcast saw Rajon Rondo, Rose’s replacement at point guard, collect 12 points, 10 rebounds and five assists in the 107-100 setback at Boston. Rondo is having no trouble fitting between wings Dwyane Wade and Jimmy Butler while center Robin Lopez, who came over in the Rose trade from New York, is proving to be a solid fit in coach Fred Hoiberg’s system. Doug McDermott is in the league’s concussion protocol and is questionable for Friday.

Durant’s formal introduction at Oracle Arena Thursday confirmed OKC’s fans’ nightmare as the face of their franchise moved on.

The MVP of the 2013-2014 season and 4 time NBA scoring leader joined the team of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. This is a gigantic earthquake that has shaken the NBA this week! A few weeks after losing in seven games against the Warriors, Kevin Durant decided to join them!

NBA Free Agency

Dwayne Wade joins the Chicago Bulls

A leap in the salary cap has caused teams to hand out record amounts of money for players this time of the year in the NBA Free Agency Frenzy.

Dwyane Wade chose to leave the Miami Heat to join the Chicago Bulls. Wade, 34, was upset the lack of consideration of the Heat’s management. With this deal worth $47.5 million for 2 years, it will be interesting how the Bulls will cope with Wade’s experience and leadership after losing stars Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah.

He has been with the team since 2003 and won 3 NBA Championships during his amazing run.

Joakim Noah joins the New York Knicks

The French-American became officially a player of the New York Knicks after serving 9 seasons with the Chicago Bulls.

Noah, 31, signed a four-year contract with the famous New York franchise, valued at $70 million. He was apparently on the list of players that they’ve been wanting to recruit for a long time.

NBA GSWvsCHI 1-20-16

Though Golden State has a .500 record over their past four, no one will remember anything prior to Monday’s MLK Day beat down of the Cavs. The defending champion Cavaliers were embarrassed at home by MVP favorite Steph Curry and the Warriors 132-98, with Curry contributing 35 points in only three quarters of play. The Warriors beat the Bulls by 12 points back in November, but this is the closing game of a three-game road trip. Steph Curry will need the continued help of his teammates to fight through the East Coast fatigue and beat the Bulls.

Chicago has dropped four of their last six, so they need this one as much as the next team. Losing Joakim Noah long-term definitely stings, but having a former superstar step in to replace him isn’t the worst situation the Bulls could be in. Pau Gasol will see a big jolt in his playing time, which could result in a steady DFS production, but others such as Nikola Mirotic and Bobby Portis will see some wood as well. In these teams’ first meeting, Jimmy Butler shot 11-of-16 vs Curry, Iguodala, Green and Barnes…but he was 0-for-4 when Klay Thompson was covering him. Watch for the game inside the game in this one.

Chicago Bulls vs. Philadelphia 76ers

Fanpicks.com is proud to announce its RotoPicker free to use tool, which allows you to create winning line ups and dominate your fantasy basketball competition.  Play the most exciting contest, including the newest $25K Grand Action and Point Spread contests only at Fanpicks.com the premiere daily fantasy basketball

Starting Lineup The Bulls entered the new year riding the wave of a six-game winning streak and putting the pressure on Cleveland for top spot in the East. They have since dropped three in a row, the latest coming at Milwaukee on Tuesday night where they were felled, 106-101, by the Bucks. Jimmy Butler continued his impressive play this season with 30 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assist, including dropping 10 of 12 from the charity stripe. Butler is averaging 22.2 points for his team this season, far and away their biggest offensive threat. Pau Gasol has 10 point and 14 boards while Derrick Rose had a quiet night with only 9 points as Chicago fall to fourth place in the competitive Eastern Conference, with the Indian Pacers hot on their heels. Rose left the game at various points, including in the third quarter with a bout of patellar tendinitis.

The 76ers dropped another game to the visiting Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday, and although the outcome may never have been in question, they still managed to prevent the best team in the East from completely dominating them as the 95-85 loss was somewhat respectable given the fact that they were outclassed at every position. Rookie Jahlil Okafor was the leading scorer for Philadelphia with 21 points and 7 rebounds, shooting 9-for-15 from the paint. Ish Smith continued to impress since landing with the team in December, recording a double-double with 18 points and 10 assists. In just nine games played with the Sixers, Smith has emerged as the second-leading scorer with the club, averaging 16.2 points and 7.8 rebounds per match-up.

NBA FANTASY BASKETBALL DRAFT NEWS 10-19-2015

COACH THIBODEAU IS GONE… AND THAT’S WHERE THE BULLS SUMMER CHANGES STOP

The Chicago Bulls did not make it all the way to the 2015 NBA final, falling victim to LeBron James and his Cleveland Cavaliers. Despite that, general manager Gar Forman kept the team intact on the eve of a new season. The roster will be the same, with center Nazr Mohammed being the only player not being resigned by the franchise.

The Bulls finished third in the eastern conference with a 50-32 record. They defeated the Milwaukee Bucks in the first round of the playoffs in 6 games, but failed to go past the Cleveland Cavaliers in the conference semifinals despite a valiant effort. Chicago lost the series 4-2.

During the 2014/15 season, tension was brewing between head coach Tom Thibodeau and the organization front office. Thibodeau brought the team to the post-season every year since his hiring in 2010. With 255 wins and 139 losses (64.7%), he holds the second best winning percentage in franchise history behind legendary coach Phil Jackson. Despite all of this success, GM Gar Forman and executive VP Johns Paxson weren’t seeing eye-to-eye with Thibodeau anymore. The move to fire him was made shortly after the playoff loss to the Cavs. His replacement, Fred Hoiberg, coached Iowa State for the past five years. The college team won the Big 12 Tournament championship for the past two season.

Chicago Bulls PG

Derrick Rose

2011 NBA MVP was finally able to play more than 60 games (including the playoffs) for the first time since tearing his ACL, back in 2012. The injury still seemed to affect him a bit, as he was not able to replicate the number’s he had a couple years back. But with 17.7 PPG and 4.9 AST/G last year, the fantasy basketball production are getting better.

Chicago Bulls SG

Jimmy Butler

Butler took the team on his shoulder last year, playing a league high 38.7 minutes per game for Chicago. He also led the team in points per game with 20. The 2015 NBA most improved player did everything on the court, from knocking down three pointers to stealing the ball away. His contribution all-year long was recognize by the league and played in his first all-star game.

Chicago Bulls SF

Mike Dunleavy Jr

Dunleavy is making the most of being a role player. His 40.7 three points percentage was the second-best in the team last year. Despite that, Dunleavy’s fantasy value is still very low.

Chicago Bulls PF

Pau Gasol

At 35 years-old, Gasol is still a top fantasy pick at the power forward position. He finished with 1446 points, 570 field goals, 919 rebounds and 147 blocks. The Spaniard led the Bulls in all of those categories, while his rebound total was third best in the NBA.

Chicago Bulls C

Joakim Noah

Noah is coming off his worst season. After collecting more than a thousand buckets the year before, he produced 485 points. That’s three less than what he made during his rookie season. His rebounds skills dropped considerably too. He had 9.6 rebounds per game, his lowest average since his sophomore season.
