Chicago Bulls vs Utah Jazz

The 113-88 win over the Portland Trail Blazers marked a third straight win for Chicago and is a strong way to kick off a six-game road trip. The Bulls will work to keep that offense humming when they face one of the best defensive teams in the league at the Utah Jazz on Thursday (Enter Contest). The teams split two meetings last season, with each team winning on its own home court.

Defense was Chicago’s biggest issue during a stretch of four losses in five games to open November, but the Bulls held their last three opponents under 100 points and limited the Trail Blazers to 35.8 percent from the floor (and 9-of-34 from 3-point range) on Tuesday. Chicago outrebounded Portland 67-49 and scored 52 points in the paint as all five starters scored in double figures. It will be more difficult to control the glass against the Jazz, who have Derrick Favors and Rudy Gobert up front with Trey Lyles coming off the bench. Favors and Gobert are both trying to bounce back from sub-par efforts after combining for 12 points, seven rebounds and one block in a 102-96 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday.

ABOUT THE BULLS (7-4)

Chicago brought in Dwyane Wade and Rajon Rondo in the offseason, and the veteran presence is bringing a new level out of swingman Jimmy Butler. The 27-year-old scored 20 or more points in each of the last two games and led the way with 27 points, 12 rebounds and five assists on Tuesday. Rondo sat out Tuesday after suffering an ankle injury in Monday’s practice and is day-to-day.

ABOUT THE JAZZ (7-5)

Favors left Monday’s game in the fourth quarter with left knee soreness and did not return, and Gobert watched most of the fourth quarter from the bench as well. Favors will continue to be monitored carefully due to the recurring pain in his knee but the team is not yet planning to sit him for an extended period. Guards Rodney Hood (illness) and George Hill (thumb) sat out Monday and are both day-to-day.

Dwyane Wade returns to Miami

Dwyane Wade won three NBA titles in 13 seasons with the Miami Heat before departing for Chicago as a free agent last summer. Wade makes his first visit to South Beach as a visiting player when the Bulls battle Miami on Thursday (Enter Contest).

Animosity with Heat president Pat Riley lingers from the breakdown in offseason negotiations that led him to go play for his hometown of Chicago. Wade scored 25 points on Wednesday but the Bulls lost 115-107 to the host Atlanta Hawks for their fourth loss in five games. Miami also has dropped four of its last five games after suffering a 97-85 road loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday.

ABOUT THE BULLS (4-4)

Dwyane Wade, a 12-time All-Star, had his second-highest scoring output of the season while making 10-of-17 shots and contributing a season-best five steals in the loss to the Hawks. The 34-year-old is averaging 17.9 points, a distant second on the Bulls behind fellow All-Star guard Jimmy Butler (23.3), who is Chicago’s primary scoring option. Butler scored a season-high 39 points against Atlanta. It was his highest total since a career-best 53-point effort against Philadelphia last January. He also contributed with seven assists and matched his career high of six steals in Wednesday’s game. Point guard Rajon Rondo is averaging just 6.8 assists and has reached double digits only once.

ABOUT THE HEAT (2-4)

Miami is still adapting to not having Wade and the current top scoring options are point guard Goran Dragic (18 points per game) and center Hassan Whiteside (17.5 points, team-best 13.8 rebounds). Backup forward James Johnson scored a season-best 18 points against Oklahoma City and is averaging 14.5 points over the past two games. The Heat won all four of last season’s meetings, including victories by 22 and 18 points.

New York Knicks vs Chicago Bulls Preview

The city of Chicago is electric after the Cubs won the World Series on Wednesday, but the baseball fever won’t keep basketball fans from anticipating the return of Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah. The two former Chicago stars will take the United Center floor for the first time in visitor’s uniforms when the Bulls host the New York Knicks on Friday (Enter Contest).

Rose and Noah helped lead Chicago to its best post-Jordan records but never managed to take the team to the NBA Finals before injuries and ineffectiveness marred the end of each of their respective tenures with the team. While the Bulls don’t seem to be missing the two former stars much on the court, the Knicks aren’t exactly surging to new heights with the two in the lineup. New York dropped three of its first four games, with all three losses coming by double figures, and is struggling on both ends. The Knicks allowed at least 32 points in each of the first three quarters at home on Wednesday before the Houston Rockets took their foot off the gas and breezed to a 118-99 win.

ABOUT THE KNICKS (1-3)

New coach Jeff Hornacek is trying to institute team president Phil Jackson’s triangle offense into the attack, but it doesn’t look like the system of play was well received. Point guard Courtney Lee was vocal about this system not working among the team. The Knicks have scored over a 100 points in a single game since the beginning of the season; a 111-104 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies.

Rose is averaging 16.3 points but recorded almost as many turnovers (eight) as assists (nine) in the first four games while Noah was held scoreless in two of the first four contests. Kristaps Porzingis averaged 18.3 points in the first three games but slumped to three points on 0-of-4 shooting Wednesday. New York took three of the four meetings last season behind 24.3 points on 50.6 percent shooting from Carmelo Anthony in the four contests.

ABOUT THE BULLS (3-1)

The team picked a good time to suffer its first loss on Wednesday, with much of the print and internet real estate in the Chicago area dominated by the Cubs winning their first World Series since 1908. Anyone in the area that did tune into the Bulls broadcast saw Rajon Rondo, Rose’s replacement at point guard, collect 12 points, 10 rebounds and five assists in the 107-100 setback at Boston. Rondo is having no trouble fitting between wings Dwyane Wade and Jimmy Butler while center Robin Lopez, who came over in the Rose trade from New York, is proving to be a solid fit in coach Fred Hoiberg’s system. Doug McDermott is in the league’s concussion protocol and is questionable for Friday.

Paul George puts 2014 behind him.

Indiana’s forward Paul George found his U.S. National teammates in preparation to the 2016 Rio Olympics without any apprehension, he assured Tuesday. He is two year’s removed from a serious injury that took him out prior to the 2014 FIBA World Cup. He fell awkwardly on his foot while fouling James Harding during a scrimmage at practice in Las Vegas. The team ended up winning the tournament without him. Despite all of that, he’s ready to put it all behind him and give it is all for the Gold. George will finally get the chance to play for his nation, something he is most proud of.

Team USA is currently preparing for Rio in Las Vegas. For George, coming back to train where he got hurt isn’t a problem. He knows that injuries can happen anywhere, anytime to anyone. The injury caused him to miss almost all of the 2014-15 NBA season. He since found his stride scoring a career-best 23.1 points per regular season game. Under his drive, the Pacers made it to the 2016 playoffs. The got bumped early though losing in the first round against the Toronto Raptors.

Head Coach Mike Krzyzewski will lead his third Olympic squad. Under his tutelage, team USA has yet to lose a game since the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Since that time the teams hold a record of 34-0, which includes two Olympics games and two FIBA world cup.

Team USA will be represented once again by an elite squad of NBA players despite some bowing out due to the unsafe nature of Brazil.  They are still favorite to land the coveted gold medal. The Golden State Warriors will have three representative at the games, with shooting guard Klay Thompson, power forward Draymond Green and newly acquired small forward Kevin Durant. The team will also rely on guards Kyrie Irving, Jimmy Butler, DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry, forwards Paul George, Harrison Barnes, and Carmelo Anthony, and centers DeMarcus Cousins and DeAndre Jordan.

Chicago Bulls vs Boston Celtics – 01/22/16 Preview

The Boston Celtics (22-21) will host Friday Night the Chicago Bulls (24-17) in this Eastern Conference showdown. The Celtics are the odds favorites to win (line: -3.5). Here is the projected lineup for tonight:

Projected Lineup

Starting Lineup

The Bulls, coming back from an embarrassing lost on Wednesday night to the history-making and defending NBA Champions Golden State 125-94 at home. Derrick Rose led the squad with 29 pts, shooting 12 for 22. Rose, currently the 3rd leading scorer for the team this year is averaging 15.4 points/game. Jimmy Butler added 23 points with 5 rebounds while the rookie Bobby Portis came off the bench and added 16 points with 8 rebounds. Chicago only made one 3pts shot out of 20 attempts and shot for 37% all night. With only 1.5 games ahead of the Pacers in the Central Division, Chicago is losing grip of their 2nd place grip slowly before even travelling to face conference leading Cleveland on Saturday before their 7 game road trip next week. Chicago are 8-9 this season on the road.

The Celtics return home on Friday night from a winless 2 road games after their defeat on Wednesday to division rivals, Toronto Raptors,115-109. Isaiah Thomas led the team with 21 points and 10 assists for his 5th double double of the season. Thomas, with an average of 21.7 pts and 6.7 assists is regarded as one of the most underrated NBA players this season. Avery Bradley added 19 pts whereas Kelly Olynyk recorded 18 pts off the bench. Boston could steer things up this upcoming week with a light schedule against the struggling Orland Magic, 76ers, Wizards and Nuggets.

NBA GSWvsCHI 1-20-16

Though Golden State has a .500 record over their past four, no one will remember anything prior to Monday’s MLK Day beat down of the Cavs. The defending champion Cavaliers were embarrassed at home by MVP favorite Steph Curry and the Warriors 132-98, with Curry contributing 35 points in only three quarters of play. The Warriors beat the Bulls by 12 points back in November, but this is the closing game of a three-game road trip. Steph Curry will need the continued help of his teammates to fight through the East Coast fatigue and beat the Bulls.

Chicago has dropped four of their last six, so they need this one as much as the next team. Losing Joakim Noah long-term definitely stings, but having a former superstar step in to replace him isn’t the worst situation the Bulls could be in. Pau Gasol will see a big jolt in his playing time, which could result in a steady DFS production, but others such as Nikola Mirotic and Bobby Portis will see some wood as well. In these teams’ first meeting, Jimmy Butler shot 11-of-16 vs Curry, Iguodala, Green and Barnes…but he was 0-for-4 when Klay Thompson was covering him. Watch for the game inside the game in this one.

Dallas Mavericks  vs. Chicago Bulls

Author : Aldo Panessidi

The Dallas Mavericks (18-20) will be hosted by the Chicago Bulls (23-15) on Friday evening. Fanpicks.com is proud to announce its RotoPicker free to use tool, which allows you to create winning line ups and dominate your fantasy basketball competition.  Play the most exciting contest, including the newest $25K Grand Action and Point Spread contests only at Fanpicks.com the premiere daily fantasy basketball

Starting Lineup The Mavericks head into Chicago for the second game of three-game road trip, bringing their 11-11 road record with them. The Mavericks are coming off a 108-89 loss to the Thunder on Wednesday night. Dallas was extremely short-handed in the contest, as they rested four of their five starters due to the heavy minutes they logged the night before in an overtime win loss to the Cavaliers. J.J. Barea led the team in scoring on Wednesday with 18 points (7-15 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 1-3 FT), alongside six assists and three rebounds. All the regular starters should return to the lineup for Friday’s matchup after their night of rest. The Mavericks are 7-9 against Eastern Conference opponents this season. One of those victories came against the Bulls on Dec.26, when Barea led Dallas to 118-111 victory.

The Bulls return home Friday after snapping a three-game slide by the narrowest of margins on Thursday, with a 115-111 overtime victory over the woeful 76ers. One reason for Chicago’s recent skid can be attributed to the health of the team. Derrick Rose sat out of Thursday’s win due to tendinitis in his left knee. The former MVP has already made it clear that he will be available for Friday’s contest. In Rose’s absence, Jimmy Butler took charge of the game, scoring a career-high 53 points (15-30 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 21-25 FT), along with 10 rebounds, six assists, and three steals. The Bulls look to defend their 16-6 mark at home this season. Chicago is 9-4 against the Western Conference this season.

Chicago Bulls vs. Philadelphia 76ers

Starting Lineup The Bulls entered the new year riding the wave of a six-game winning streak and putting the pressure on Cleveland for top spot in the East. They have since dropped three in a row, the latest coming at Milwaukee on Tuesday night where they were felled, 106-101, by the Bucks. Jimmy Butler continued his impressive play this season with 30 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assist, including dropping 10 of 12 from the charity stripe. Butler is averaging 22.2 points for his team this season, far and away their biggest offensive threat. Pau Gasol has 10 point and 14 boards while Derrick Rose had a quiet night with only 9 points as Chicago fall to fourth place in the competitive Eastern Conference, with the Indian Pacers hot on their heels. Rose left the game at various points, including in the third quarter with a bout of patellar tendinitis.

The 76ers dropped another game to the visiting Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday, and although the outcome may never have been in question, they still managed to prevent the best team in the East from completely dominating them as the 95-85 loss was somewhat respectable given the fact that they were outclassed at every position. Rookie Jahlil Okafor was the leading scorer for Philadelphia with 21 points and 7 rebounds, shooting 9-for-15 from the paint. Ish Smith continued to impress since landing with the team in December, recording a double-double with 18 points and 10 assists. In just nine games played with the Sixers, Smith has emerged as the second-leading scorer with the club, averaging 16.2 points and 7.8 rebounds per match-up.

Chicago Bulls vs. Milwaukee Bucks

The Chicago Bulls (22-14) will be hosted by the Milwaukee Bucks  (15-24) at Bradley Center on Tuesday evening.

Starting LineupThe Bulls will be playing on the second half of a back-to-back, having endured a rare home loss Monday night versus the Wizards, 114-100. Derrick Rose led the way for Chicago with 23 points, and is now averaging a solid 18.4 points in the past four contests since his return from a three-game absence due to knee and hamstring soreness. Jimmy Butler continued his outstanding all-around play by pitching in 19 points, seven assists, four rebounds and three steals, while Pau Gasol posted a trademark 15-point, 10-rebound double-double. The defeat was a second straight for the Bulls, following a season-high six-game winning streak that included a 117-106 victory over the Bucks on January 5. Butler led the way in that contest with 32 points, but he and the Bulls may be hard-pressed to duplicate their offensive success Tuesday, considering they’ll be playing their fourth game in six nights.

The Bucks come in having lost three of their past four games, and firmly entrenched in last place in the Eastern Conference’s Central Division. They fell to the Knicks 100-88 on Sunday, despite an outstanding effort from Greg Monroe. The Bucks’ big man equaled a season high with 28 points, while adding 10 rebounds, two assists and a block. It was notably his third straight game with double-digit boards, and third double-double in the last five games. Khris Middleton (20 points) and Jabari Parker (14 points) made solid contributions as well in the loss. Milwaukee continues to be plagued by the inconsistencies of two of their most potential-laden younger players in Michael Carter-Williams and Giannis Antetokounmpo, and remain ranked in the lower half of the league in points surrendered (103.6), points scored (97.6) and point differential (-6.0).

Washington Wizard  vs. Chicago Bulls

The Washington Wizards (16-19) will be hosted  by the Chicago Bulls  (22-13) on Monday evening. Starting Lineup Washington comes into this matchup losing five of their last seven games and the offense is really struggling. They are regularly scoring under 100 points a game and that’s terrible considering they are one of the fastest-paced teams in the NBA. It’s hard to put a finger on the struggles, but it could be a simple reality that the rest of the Eastern Conference is better this season. They fed off under .500 teams last year and they cant do that in a much improved Eastern Conference. The good news is that Bradley Beal is due back very soon and could even make his return here against the Bulls. He’s a much needed scoring punch and defensive presence that this team desperately needs right now.

The Bulls are playing some of their best basketball of the season right now, as they have won six of their last seven coming into this game. The offense has been spectacular in that stretch, as they are averaging about 106 points per game in that span. What makes this team so scary is their depth, as players like Taj Gibson, Tony Snell and Bobby Portis will be coming off the bench when everyone is healthy. Speaking of health, Joakim Noah may return this game as well, as he’s nearly full recovered from his shoulder injury he suffered last month. This team already has one of the deepest frontcourts in the NBA and it would be scary imaging them getting back an All-Star center.

NBA Fantasy Draft News 1-11-2016

Washington Wizards versus Chicago Bulls NBA Daily Fantasy League Preview 1-11-2016

The Chicago Bulls are going to host the Washington Wizards from the NBA. Pro basketball fantasy GM’s can tune to NBA League Pass Channel at 8PM Eastern Time on Monday January 11th to follow the results of their one day league roster picks.

It has not been a good start to the season for the Washington Wizards. The team is 16-19 overall and just broke a three game losing streak as they beat Orlando on the road on Saturday. Their struggles have come on the defensive end of the court. Washington is 29th and second to last in the NBA in field goal and three point defense. They are allowing 46.6% shooting and 38.3% from the three point line on the year.

The Chicago Bulls have moved to an up-tempo team from previous seasons. The Bulls used to sit near the bottom of the league in most offensive numbers the past seasons. Not this season as Chicago is 10th in scoring at 102.2 points per game and sit 5th from the three point line by connecting on 36.5% from beyond the arc. Still with a faster pace the Bulls are still defending well by allowing 41.9% shooting from the floor good for best in the league.

Here are the NBA Fantasy Picks

Point guard Jimmy Butler has taken over as the leader of the Chicago Bulls. He is posting 22.1 points per game with five boards and four assists per contest. He is coming off a 27 point performance with eight boards in 39 minutes on Saturday at Atlanta. He has played 39 minutes in each of his past four games.

Play on Jimmy Butler

Miami Heat versus Golden St Warriors NBA Real Money Fantasy League Preview 1-11-2016

The Golden St Warriors will welcome into town the Miami Heat. Fantasy NBA draft managers can catch the action on NBA League Pass Channel at 10:30PM Eastern Time on Monday January 11th to check the scoring results of their real money roster selections.

Miami still has a strong defensive presence on the court ranking second in the league in points against by allowing 94.8 per contest. They will have their hands full trying to keep Golden St on their home court below their season averages offensively. You are looking at Goran Dragic and Dwyane Wade trying to defend the guard tandem of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. The Heat does have advantages in the low post behind Chris Bosh and Hassan Whiteside but a jump shooting team like Golden St when they miss will create long rebounding opportunities. Whiteside and Bosh better be careful about putting the ball on the floor in traffic because the Warriors defenders will create steals.

The Warriors are 35-2 overall and 17-0 on their home court. They are tops in the league in scoring and three point shooting as well as second shooting from the floor at 48.8%. On defense Golden St sits second in the league in field goal (42.5%) and three point shooting defense (31.9%)

Here are the NBA Pro Basketball Real Money Fantasy League Picks

Stephen Curry will be a handful for the Miami Heat guards. The good point guards reside in the west and you find very few approaching his quality in the Eastern conference. Curry is averaging nearly 30 points per game and is shooting 51% from the floor with 44.8% from the three point line.

Play Stephen Curry

Golden St Warriors PG

With Curry spreading the court and creating space it will open up three point shooting opportunities for Klay Thompson. He is second on the team in scoring and shoots 43.5% from beyond the arc.

Play Klay Thompson

Chicago Bulls vs. Atlanta Hawks

The surging Chicago Bulls (22-12) take to the road to meet the Atlanta Hawks (22-15) on Saturday evening in an Eastern Conference showdown.. Starting Lineup After a shaky December where they had an 8-7 record yet still managed to hold onto second place in the Eastern Conference, the Bulls have won six games in a row, their latest a Thursday night victory over the Boston Celtics, 101-92, at United Center. Chicago are now 16-5 at home after a match-up that saw all five Bulls starters contribute double digit scoring. Jimmy Butler had 19 points and 10 assists, Pau Gasol recorded 17 points and 18 rebounds and Derrick Rose added 18 points and 7 boards as the team seems to be finding their form as the midway point of the season comes into focus. Despite missing Joakim Noah (shoulder) since December, Chicago have remained in top form in the Eastern Conference, yet can’t quite close the gap with the first place Cleveland Cavaliers who are also on a tear at the moment. The team expects Noah to suit up again some time next week.

The Hawks demolished the 76ers in Philadelphia on Thursday night, 126-98, to put a halt to a two-game losing streak and maintain a neck-and-neck fight with the Miami Heat for first place in the Southeast Division. Kent Bazemore led Atlanta in scoring in a game that saw the team get point contributions from 13 players. Paul Millsap and Al Horford each had 18 points, with the tandem also combining for 15 rebounds. Dennis Schroder scored 14 points off the bench, shooting 5-for-8 from the paint and 2-for-3 from long range. Atlanta ranks seventh in the NBA in field goal shooting percentage, averaging 46% per game this season. That trend continued to work in the team’s favor on Thursday, as they shot 53.3%. Despite riding hot hands into the weekend, the Hawks have lost seven of their last nine games to the Bulls.
