Fantasy NBA Basketball predictions

The Clippers are lucky right now with no reason to play their top players and able to rest them. With the Utah Jazz needing a win and on the brink of elimination, they will take full advantage of this factor. It really couldn’t have come at a better time for them as they have everything to play in this game. They’re standing only 1 game behind the 7th and 1 game ahead of the 9th seed in the tough Western Conference. Not only they’ve been playing well but the chemistry seems to have been clicking more than ever. The Jazz have only lost 3 games in their last 13 matchups. Their defense really helped them to get this far since they still rank 2nd in points allowed. The Jazz are an easy favorite in this one at home.

The Clippers come into this game having won 7 of their last 8t and have little to play. They’re currently 4th west and can’t move up nor down. What’s really impressive with them is that they’re one of the few teams who actually rank in the NBA’s top 10 offense and defense simultaneously. This really allows them to rest some of their top players for the playoffs. In fact, it looks like Blake Griffin, Chris Paul, DeAndre Jordan and J.J. Redick will all sit out tonight with this game being logically meaningless to them.

NBA Basketball Fantasy Projections

San Antonio Spurs vs Utah Jazz

Gregg Popovich’s hot San Antonio Spurs will be heading to Salt Lake City to battle the Utah Jazz at Vivint Smart Home Arena on Tuesday. NBA Basketball Fantasy Projections

The Utah Jazz have been thriving off their defense as well. The surprising fact is that the Jazz actually rank 2nd in the NBA just behind San Antonio. Unfortunately though, they’re barely in the playoffs sitting in eighth in the Western Conference, just one game in front of the Houston Rockets. The Jazz have won 4 of their last 5 heading into this game and clearly have some motivation to obtain their final playoff berth. Utah is also rocking solid at home and made it their fortress with a good 24-14 home record into this game.

San Antonio head into this matchup having won 5 of their last 6 games. What’s really encouraging for them is the way LaMarcus Aldridge has been playing. He is really starting to find his Portland form lately. With this already dominant team, its hard and scary to imagine the damage they can make in the post season. Their key to success this year has been their defense as they ranked 1st in pts allowed since the opening month of the year.

Utah Jazz vs Portland Trail Blazers

Daily Fantasy Basketball News – 02-21-16

The Utah Jazz (27-27) will battle the Portland Trail Blazers (28-27) at the Moda Center this Sunday evening. FanPicks has this game on tap for tonight’s DFS action. Come play some Fantasy Basketball at Fanpicks.com

Projected Lineup

Fantasy Basketball

Utah has been one of the most solid teams in the NBA despite their 2 game losing streak after the league’s All-Star break. In fact, the Jazz have won 8 of their last 10 games while also holding opponents to one of the lowest total pts in the league. The only real issues they have to fix before playoffs are their offense and road issues. They’re currently 9-17 away from the Vivint Smart Home Arena and rank in the bottom 5 in terms of pts scored and assists. Their obvious strength lies in their defense, allowing just 96 pts per game and ranked 2nd in the league in pts allowed.
The Trail Blazers are also one of the hottest teams in the league right now, not only because they’ve won 9 of their last 10 games but have been beating top competition lately. That culminated on Friday when the defending champion, Golden State Warriors lost by 32 points against them. Damian Lillard dropped a career high 51 pts and it helped them take the 8th seed right in front of the Jazz. This game is extremely important for both teams, as the winner will be sitting in the 8th seed and will have the upper hand in terms of tiebreaker situation.

Utah Jazz vs Brooklyn Nets – 01/22/16 Preview

The Utah Jazz (18-24) look to establish some consistency on Friday night when they travel to Barclays Center to take on the hapless Brooklyn Nets (11-32). The Jazz are the odd favorites to win (line: -5.5). Here is the projected lineup:

Projected Lineup
Starting Lineup

After their loss to the New York Knicks this past Wednesday, the Jazz are now back in 9th place of the wide open Western Conference. The Knicks had the best of the Jazz in OT with a 118-111.  Rodney Hood made 5 of 10 three pointers. Gordon Hayward led the Jazz that night with a solid tally of 29 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists while Trey Lyles finished the night with 13 points. Utah has struggled to find consistency this campaign, ranking 25th overall in offence.

The Nets have lost 9 of the last 10 games, the latest at home this past Wednesday night to the Cavaliers, 91-78. The Cavs were coming back from an embarrassing home loss to the Golden State earlier in the week on MLK day and were on fire, despite a solid 16 pts, 10 rebound double-double from Brook Lopez. Thaddeus Young added 14 points while Donald Sloan 12 points. Brooklyn is second last in the league in 3 pts shooting percentage, averaging only 31.8%.

Starting Lineup

The Kings have been playing some of the best basketball of the season as of late, but are coming into this game with a disastrous road record. They are now 5-12 on the road and are playing in one of the toughest venues in Utah on Thursday. Sacramento is coming off a bad loss on Wednesday as well, as they lost to a New Orleans Pelicans team that has struggled mightily all year. In fact, the Kings were seven-point favorites in that game and once again lets fans down with another poor performance. DeMarcus Cousins continued his recent ridiculous play in that game, as he tallied 32 points and 12 rebounds in the loss. He is now the leading scorer in the new year and is making a bid for the All-Star team.

Utah comes into this game winning two of their last three and that directly correlates with the return of Rudy Gobert. The Frenchmen is one of the best defenders in the NBA and that’s clearly evident through the teams stats. The Jazz rank as a top-three defense with him in the lineup and barely top-10 with him out of it. Since his return, they are allowing about 90 points a game and once again stifling teams. The problem is the offense though, as they still rank 27th in scoring. Another major issue is the ball distribution, as the team ranks dead-last in assists with no legitimate point guard on the roster. This should be a good opportunity for this offense to get on track though, as the Kings sport one of the worst defenses in the league. Utah comes into this game as a five-point favored.

Gordon Hayward is averaging 18.8 points and 5.2 rebounds while Alec Burks is averaging 14.3 points and 2.1 assists. Rodney Hood is dishing 2.6 assists and Trevor Booker is grabbing 6.5 rebounds. NBA Fantasy Basketball Draft News 10-20-2015

Utah Jazz Need to Speed Up Their Game to Compete in the West

The Utah Jazz completed play during the 2014-15 regular season with a record of 38-44. They finished seven games back of New Orleans for the final playoff spot in the Western conference and were the 11th seed. Playing in high altitude one would think the Jazz would have better success at home but their record was only one game over .500 at 21-20. A possible reason for this was the fact the Jazz played at such a slow pace that it took away a home site and altitude advantage the team had. The team averaged just 95 points a game and connected on 44.7% from the floor with 34.3% from the three point line. We saw the Denver Nuggets tank way down following the departure of George Karl from a run and gun team to a slow defensive style team which didn’t work. Quin Snyder returns as head coach of the Jazz as he enters his second year with the club. The team had the 12th pick in the draft and selected Trey Lyles a 6’ 10” forward from Kentucky. Oliver Hanlan a guard from Boston College was selected in the second round. There is no doubt the club needs to modernize their offensive system.

Utah Jazz PG:

Trey Burke

The 22 year old enters his second season in the league. He played in 76 games and averaged 30 minutes a game. Burke has a lot of work to do on his game. His shooting percentage is really bad at 36.8% from the floor and 31.9% from the three point line a year ago. The half court offensive system just isn’t working and hopefully Quinn can speed up the tempo for his weapons to find good looks at the bucket.

Utah Jazz SG:

Alec Burks

Burks is young at just 24 years old. He is a shooting guard who hit 40% from the floor and 38.2% from three point distance. His preseason has been good as he looks to keep his starting job over Rodney Hood. Shoulder surgery limited Burks to just 27 games last season.

Utah Jazz SF:

Gordon Hayward

The former Butler product has led the Jazz in scoring last season. He averaged 19.3 points a game along with five boards and four assists in 34 minutes. Hayward connected on 44.5% from the floor along with 36.4% from three point range. Still only 25 years old as the Jazz team is young.

Utah Jazz PF:

Derrick Favors

Favors part of the starting lineup in the early 20’s for the team at just 24 years old. He had a good season last year by averaging 16 points and 8.2 rebounds in his 31 minutes of playing time per game. The good news is that Favors has shown improvement and can still pick up those rebounding and block shot numbers as he nears his prime of his career.

Utah Jazz C:

Rudy Gorbert

A former first round pick of the Denver Nuggets in 2013. Gorbert is a 7’2” center with a huge wingspan. He is a rim protection on the defensive end of the court as he had nearly 2 ½ block shots per game last year. Gorbert played in all 82 games last year and averaged 60% shooting along with 8.4 points with 9.5 rebounds per game. There is much room to improve his offensive game as with his size around the bucket. Gorbert could develop into a sound choice for NBA daily fantasy rosters. He is still only 23 years old. One has to wonder if Quinn Snyder would allow this team to run just think how much better these young players on the Jazz could become.
