NBA Rundown

Friday Fantasy Basketball Matchups

FanPicks.com has your NBA daily rundown to get you ready for live fantasy basketball matchups.

Kings vs Pacers

The Sacramento Kings are displaying signs of life during an eight-game road trip. They aim for a third consecutive victory in Indiana. Sacramento improved to 2-2 on the excursion with a stunning 116-112 overtime win over the defending champion Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday.

Nets vs Cavaliers

The Cleveland Cavaliers continue to slump and dropped six of their last eight games. Cleveland lost its last three games and the latest setback was a dreadful 116-112 home overtime loss to the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday.

Magic vs Celtics

The Boston Celtics avoided a four-game losing streak with one of their biggest wins of the season and will play nine of their next 12 games against teams that entered Thursday with a losing record. They snapped their three-game slide with a 120-109 home win over the Houston Rockets on Wednesday.

Bucks vs Raptors

The Cleveland Cavaliers’ meltdown over the last two weeks seemed like the perfect opportunity for the Toronto Raptors to jump up and claim the top spot into the Eastern Conference, but instead they’ve gone into a funk as well. The Raptors will try to snap a season-long five-game slide against Milwaukee Bucks.

Hornets vs Knicks

The New York Knicks are apparently intent on getting star forward Carmelo Anthony out of town, though he seems to be the least of their problems at the moment. They’ve won 4 of their last 18 games.

Heat vs Bulls

Dwyane Wade’s old team is visiting just as his new team seems to be coming apart.

Spurs vs Pelicans

The San Antonio Spurs hope to have star small forward Kawhi Leonard back Friday night. Leonard missed the past two games with a left hand injury after a tremendous roll in which he scored 30 or more points in six consecutive contests.

Wizards vs Hawks

The Washington Wizards are quietly making a steady climb up the standings in the Eastern Conference and are winners of nine of their last 11 games.

Rockets vs 76ers

The Philadelphia 76ers are expecting star center Joel Embiid(knee) to return to the lineup. The center missed three games in a row but the surging 76ers are proving they can survive without his emerging talents, knocking off the Los Angeles Clippers and Milwaukee Bucks in a back-to-back earlier this week.

Grizzlies vs Trail Blazers

Memphis center Marc Gasol is on a tear and he aims to top 20 points for the sixth consecutive game. He established career bests of 42 points and five 3-pointers in Wednesday’s 101-99 over the Toronto Raptors.

Chicago Bulls vs Utah Jazz

The 113-88 win over the Portland Trail Blazers marked a third straight win for Chicago and is a strong way to kick off a six-game road trip. The Bulls will work to keep that offense humming when they face one of the best defensive teams in the league at the Utah Jazz on Thursday (Enter Contest). The teams split two meetings last season, with each team winning on its own home court.

Defense was Chicago’s biggest issue during a stretch of four losses in five games to open November, but the Bulls held their last three opponents under 100 points and limited the Trail Blazers to 35.8 percent from the floor (and 9-of-34 from 3-point range) on Tuesday. Chicago outrebounded Portland 67-49 and scored 52 points in the paint as all five starters scored in double figures. It will be more difficult to control the glass against the Jazz, who have Derrick Favors and Rudy Gobert up front with Trey Lyles coming off the bench. Favors and Gobert are both trying to bounce back from sub-par efforts after combining for 12 points, seven rebounds and one block in a 102-96 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday.

ABOUT THE BULLS (7-4)

Chicago brought in Dwyane Wade and Rajon Rondo in the offseason, and the veteran presence is bringing a new level out of swingman Jimmy Butler. The 27-year-old scored 20 or more points in each of the last two games and led the way with 27 points, 12 rebounds and five assists on Tuesday. Rondo sat out Tuesday after suffering an ankle injury in Monday’s practice and is day-to-day.

ABOUT THE JAZZ (7-5)

Favors left Monday’s game in the fourth quarter with left knee soreness and did not return, and Gobert watched most of the fourth quarter from the bench as well. Favors will continue to be monitored carefully due to the recurring pain in his knee but the team is not yet planning to sit him for an extended period. Guards Rodney Hood (illness) and George Hill (thumb) sat out Monday and are both day-to-day.

New York Knicks vs Chicago Bulls Preview

The city of Chicago is electric after the Cubs won the World Series on Wednesday, but the baseball fever won’t keep basketball fans from anticipating the return of Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah. The two former Chicago stars will take the United Center floor for the first time in visitor’s uniforms when the Bulls host the New York Knicks on Friday (Enter Contest).

Rose and Noah helped lead Chicago to its best post-Jordan records but never managed to take the team to the NBA Finals before injuries and ineffectiveness marred the end of each of their respective tenures with the team. While the Bulls don’t seem to be missing the two former stars much on the court, the Knicks aren’t exactly surging to new heights with the two in the lineup. New York dropped three of its first four games, with all three losses coming by double figures, and is struggling on both ends. The Knicks allowed at least 32 points in each of the first three quarters at home on Wednesday before the Houston Rockets took their foot off the gas and breezed to a 118-99 win.

ABOUT THE KNICKS (1-3)

New coach Jeff Hornacek is trying to institute team president Phil Jackson’s triangle offense into the attack, but it doesn’t look like the system of play was well received. Point guard Courtney Lee was vocal about this system not working among the team. The Knicks have scored over a 100 points in a single game since the beginning of the season; a 111-104 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies.

Rose is averaging 16.3 points but recorded almost as many turnovers (eight) as assists (nine) in the first four games while Noah was held scoreless in two of the first four contests. Kristaps Porzingis averaged 18.3 points in the first three games but slumped to three points on 0-of-4 shooting Wednesday. New York took three of the four meetings last season behind 24.3 points on 50.6 percent shooting from Carmelo Anthony in the four contests.

ABOUT THE BULLS (3-1)

The team picked a good time to suffer its first loss on Wednesday, with much of the print and internet real estate in the Chicago area dominated by the Cubs winning their first World Series since 1908. Anyone in the area that did tune into the Bulls broadcast saw Rajon Rondo, Rose’s replacement at point guard, collect 12 points, 10 rebounds and five assists in the 107-100 setback at Boston. Rondo is having no trouble fitting between wings Dwyane Wade and Jimmy Butler while center Robin Lopez, who came over in the Rose trade from New York, is proving to be a solid fit in coach Fred Hoiberg’s system. Doug McDermott is in the league’s concussion protocol and is questionable for Friday.

NBA Free Agency & Trades

NBA free agency and the trades this week have been on a full swing. With hundreds of millions of dollars being currently spent, there’s still a lot more to come with moving parts to board. FanPicks (click to play) breakdowns this week’s madness in Free Agency signings and Trades in the NBA!

Kevin Durant joins the Golden State Warriors

One of the biggest off season and trade frenzy question was answered Monday morning when Kevin Durant announced that he was leaving the Oklahoma City Thunder to arch Western Conference rivals Golden State Warriors. Durant’s formal introduction at Oracle Arena Thursday confirmed OKC’s fans’ nightmare as the face of their franchise moved on.

The MVP of the 2013-2014 season and 4 time NBA scoring leader joined the team of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. This is a gigantic earthquake that has shaken the NBA this week! A few weeks after losing in seven games against the Warriors, Kevin Durant decided to join them!

NBA Free Agency

Dwayne Wade joins the Chicago Bulls

A leap in the salary cap has caused teams to hand out record amounts of money for players this time of the year in the NBA Free Agency Frenzy.

Dwyane Wade chose to leave the Miami Heat to join the Chicago Bulls. Wade, 34, was upset the lack of consideration of the Heat’s management. With this deal worth $47.5 million for 2 years, it will be interesting how the Bulls will cope with Wade’s experience and leadership after losing stars Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah.

He has been with the team since 2003 and won 3 NBA Championships during his amazing run.

Joakim Noah joins the New York Knicks

The French-American became officially a player of the New York Knicks after serving 9 seasons with the Chicago Bulls.

Noah, 31, signed a four-year contract with the famous New York franchise, valued at $70 million. He was apparently on the list of players that they’ve been wanting to recruit for a long time.

He will be alongside his former teammate Derrick Rose and close friend Carmelo Anthony.

With Pau Gasol leaving the Bulls for the San Antonio Spurs  last week, many other top free agents are up for grabs.

Don’t forget to check our blog for the latest news on this NBA Free Agent Frenzy with the market still hot after this frantic week in the NBA.

Top 20 Fantasy Picks NBA DFS

May 11th 2016

Two FanPicks NBA DFS games on tap for today. It all starts at 8pm ET in Toronto, as the Heat and the Raptors will face each other in game 5 to break the 2-2 tie. Three of the four games in this series were decided in overtime. Dwayne Wade has made a lot of enemies north-of-the-border. First, because of his practice routine during the “Oh Canada” national anthem interpretation in game 3, and his solid game throughout the series. Wade will have to contend with the crowd tonight with the contest shifting back to the Air Canada Center. At 10pm ET, the NBA will turn to the West with game 5 of the series between the Portland Trail Blazers and the Golden State Warriors. The Warriors could end it tonight at home, as they lead this series 3-1. Golden State’s point guard is fresh off a repeat NBA MVP win and an incredible 40 points performance in game 4. His value is off the roof, and there’s just no way we can expect otherwise from him.

Fantasy Basketball Daily Picks Nets vs Heat

Dominate your competitions with our NBA  Fantasy Basketball Daily Picks Nets vs Heat create the winning lineup at Fanpicks.com. The Brooklyn Nets (21-51) play the host Miami Heat (42-30) at American Airlines Arena.

Fantasy Basketball

It’s difficult to get a read on this Brooklyn team, as they come into this game with a reasonable two-game winning streak. What’s even more surprising about those victories is who they came against, as they were versus two Eastern Conference playoff teams. That’s what can be baffling about the Nets, as they have the skill to play with anyone, but always fail to live up to their potential. The biggest problem with this team is the offense, as they hold the 27th spot in league scoring.

The Heat come into this match-up winning three of their last four, with the one defeat coming in expected circumstances. Miami played the powerful Spurs on the road in that one loss. San Antonio hasn’t suffered a loss in their home building all season. The key with the Heat is their defensive acumen, as they rank fourth in points given. Miami will have no issue slowing down this lackluster Brooklyn offense. That should be the difference maker in this game. Watch for Miami to be a double-digit favorite in this game.

Basketball fantasy picks – 03/04/16

There’s eleven NBA games pick from Friday. A nice brass of elite value picks will be available, with the likes of LeBron James, John Wall and Paul George. But the question is will they deliver the merchandise. This is your basketball fantasy picks, presented by FanPicks RotoPicker.

  • Kyrie Irving ($5,600)

Irving is averaging a career low 4.3 assists per game, this season. But after posting back-to-back 6 assists games and scoring at least 22 points in each one of them, it’s hard not to believe he won’t have a solid game against a questionable Wizard defense. He’s also 19-for-19 in free-throws, in the past three games

  • Khris Middleton ($5,800)

Middleton has now scored at least 21 points in four straight games, and has hit the 20-point mark 27 times in 2015-16. The fourth-year wing is averaging career highs in points, assists, and threes.

  • Dwayne Wade ($5,800)

Wade scored 24.6 points per game in the last 6 contest. He will continue to be a phenomenal fantasy option, as long as you don’t mind his old age.

  • LeBron James ($7,300)

Last Sunday, the Wizard took advantage of a LeBron-less Cavaliers team, winning 113 to 99. It will be a different story on Friday night with James in the lineup, especially after a three days’ rest. He

  • Giannis Antetokounmpo ($6,200)

Antetokounmpo has averaged 7.8 assists in the Bucks’ past five games, with coach and former point guard Jason Kidd giving the 21-year-old much of the ballhandling duties. Still, he remains a scoring threat and a force on the boards, averaging 17.9 points and 11.3 rebounds in his last eight.

  • Aaron Gordon ($4,800)

Gordon has been a consistent two-category (rebounds & points) source of production, and he doesn’t appear to be in danger of losing minutes to teammate Ersan Ilyasova.

  • Nikola Vucevic ($6,300)

While his defensive limitations have been well-documented, Vucevic’s offensive prowess can’t be denied. Vucevic is now averaging 23.3 points over his last six games, while shooting over 50 percent from the field in that span. Vucevic should be a prime DFS target on Friday, when he’ll take on the defensively-challenged Suns.

  • Jabari Parker ($5,000)

In 2014, Parker was pegged as a likely fantasy/reality Rookie of the Year. Injuries delayed Parker’s full arrival…by a season and a half. He may not have won Rookie of the Year, but Parker is making a staggering late push for Most Improved Player.

  • Mario Hezonja ($3,200)

“Super Mario” enjoyed his finest career performance in Wednesday’s victory, hitting multiple three’s for just the second time since Feb. 10. Receiving limited minutes, Hezonja has posted a pedestrian 33.6 percentage from beyond the arc this season.

Daily Fantasy Basketball Projections Picks

We enter the last full month of fantasy basketball, and we’re ready to give you tonight’s FanPicks rotopicker NBA lineup. There’s a total of six game tonight, including Chicago versus Miami and Atlanta against Dallas. We’ve put up a list of the daily fantasy basketball projections picks for all the games.

  • G – Dwayne Wade – $5,600

With Chris Bosh (calf) being advised to sit out the remainder of 2015-16, Wade will likely be forced to step up and carry his Heat to the playoffs.

  • G – Victor Oladipo – $5,600

Oladipo earned 5.2 trips to the charity stripe per game during the month of February while posting 19.2 points, 5.2 rebounds, 4.1 assists, 2.2 steals, and 0.5 blocks across 38 minutes per matchup. The majority of those figures are the best he has mustered up in terms of monthly averages in 2015-16, and Oladipo is likely to continue seeing heavy minutes for the remainder of the season.

  • G – Ronnie Price – $3,500

With Brandon Knight (groin) still without a timetable for return, Price figures to continue serving as a highly cost-effective option in daily leagues for the time being.

  • F – Aaron Gordon – $4,800

Opposing defenses will be in serious trouble if Aaron Gordon’s three-point shot proves to be a weapon over time, and he’s set to receive all the minutes he can handle over the remaining months of the season.

  • F – Draymond Green – $6,700

Green produced a double-double Saturday with 14 rebounds and 14 assists in a 121-118 win over the Thunder. Draymond is one of a kind and we won’t see another one like him for a long, long time.

  • F – Chandler Parsons – $5,000

Parsons is managing 20.2 points (57.1 FG, 50.0 3Pt, 93.8 FT), 4.4 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 2.8 threes, 1.2 steals, and 0.8 blocks in 31 minutes per appearance over the last five contests.

  • C – Pau Gasol – $6,900

With both Derrick Rose (hamstring) and Jimmy Butler (knee) out, Gasol is taking upon himself to distribute the ball and is hugely successful. Even at 35 years old, Gasol continues to contribute consistently across the board.

  • UT – Luol Deng – $5,100

With Bosh potentially missing the rest of the season due to blood clotting in his calf, Deng’s fantasy value is on the definite upswing, and it could go even higher once he’s fully recovered from the dislocated finger that’s restricted his efficiency on offense over the last three games.

  • UT – Carmelo Anthony – $6,600

He averaged 22.2 points on 19.7 shots in February, hitting only 39 percent of his attempts from the field. However, he did pull down 9.8 rebounds per game to go along with 4.9 assists to 2.7 turnovers, one three-pointer, 0.8 steals, and 0.2 blocks in 38 minutes per appearance. It’s a bit odd to see Anthony playing such heavy minutes despite the team’s 25-36 record, but fantasy owners in leagues that value counting stats have to be pleased.

Fantasy Basketball Miami Heat vs New York Knicks preview

NBA Basketball Fantasy Basketball Preview

Things will heat up tonight in the Big Apple as the New York Knicks will be hosting the Miami Heat Sunday evening. Come play our NBA ‪‎Fantasy Basketball contest and YOU could win BIG at FanPicks.
Fantasy Basketball Miami heat vs New york Knicks

New York is on a terrible slump lately, having struggled both offensively and defensively. For some reason, they’ve won only 3 games out of the last 14. Even though they’ve won back to back games, the opponents were very weak. The Knicks will have a handful this game against Miami’s defense unit and their new offensive addition.

Miami has been playing very well lately despite dropping their last 2 games against the Celtics and the Warriors. Unfortunately for them, their leading scorer, Chris Bosh is under serious pressure from team doctors to sit down for the rest of the season. Dwayne Wade and the offensve has been getting unexpected great help from Hassan Whiteside and Goran Dragic. Whiteside played 4 straight games with an average of 19.5 pts and 17.3 rebounds while Dragic stepped up as well averaging 19.8 pts, 7 assists and 5.4 boards the last games. The real addition to their squad and danger for the Eastern Conference is the arrival of 7 time all star Joe Johnson. It will in interesting and essential addition for them

Daily Fantasy Basketball Picks

Once again we would like to stress this isn’t necessarily our suggested daily fantasy basketball optimal lineup, but value players to target to help make your team successful! In order to win your daily fantasy basketball contest you need to maximize your spending and get the right formula for victory, where as these players are selected with individual value in mind (as you can see I always have money left over). Let’s take a look at my strategy today.

  • My roster

nba0220

Chris Paul is my only major star. He will have to give it everything he has if the Clippers have any hope of beating Steph Curry and the mighty Warriors.

Teague and Carter-Williams provide good value at their price tags compared to most of the board. They average anywhere from 25 to 30 FPPG, a good 5 points more than their peers.

Goran Dragic and Luol Deng could put up big numbers again with all the injuries the Heat are dealing with at the moment. With Wade out specifically, the guard position has many minutes to fill and Deng flashed a version of his younger self last game giving hope for a repeat performance.

Antetokounmpo is the highest priced player remaining on my roster. The big-man has been putting up star-level fantasy stats lately and tonight should be no different. I’m expecting 30 fantasy points out of him.

Gerald Green will also benefit from the additional minutes he will receive tonight (Bosh – Out), while Jabari Parker has heated up as is a very good value.

Center Marreese Speights doesn’t play much, but he is very effective. He can get you 15 points and a few other category fillers if you’re really in a pinch for a low-cost player.

These are the projections for those premium players, salaries over $7000 but consistent performances that can be relied on. Demarcus Cousins leads the list by over 5 fantasy points as he has continued his huge season with a 30+ fantasy point performance last night. However, you can go a little cheaper at the premium spot with Rajon Rondo, who led the league with 33 fantasy points last night, or Paul and Jordan who have been putting up big numbers to fill that gap of no Blake Griffin in the lineup.

Premium picks are reliable but also come with high ownership percentages and when if come to Daily Fantasy NBA Cash Drafts, low ownership picks are key. When you need to save a little cash look for these picks to fill those positions. When you can get a starting center like Jokic or Lopez for such a cheap price he is bound to put up decent numbers just from the minutes on the court alone. Turner and Thomas as well have been very hot lately and their salaries have not yet completely adjusted for their big performances.

One of the most important factors however is the pace of the matchup, which can be generally defined by two numbers. Over Under and Spread. Over Under is the total number of projected points that will be scored by the 2 teams in the matchup and the spread is the projected win margin, negative meaning the home team is favored. The best matchup is one with a high Over Under and a low spread, meaning it is competitive and fast paced, the best situation for a lot of fantasy points to be found.

Looking at these matchups, the key two are clearly Portland @ Houston and Oklahoma City @ Golden State. Both those matchups look to be higher scoring than the rest, so favor those players just a little bit extra when making your picks.

Miami Heat vs Houston Rockets Fantasy Basketball News – 02-02-16

The Miami Heat (27-21) will continue their road stretch in Texas when they take on the Houston Rockets (25-25) on Tuesday. FanPicks has this game on tap for tonight’s DFS action. Come play Fantasy Basketball at fanpicks.com.

Projected Lineup

Fantasy basketball

The Heat are the midst of a four-game winning streak and took the Southeast division lead from the Atlanta Hawks. The best part of that hot stretch is that they have been playing without Hassan Whiteside, their regular center. Whiteside leads the league in blocks and has anchored this defense all season long. This proves that Miami has the depth to be successful. Allowing under 93 points a game during that winning streak, Erik Spoelstra’s team are also thriving in defense. They hold the second spot in the NBA for points allowed. Miami’s fab-five are as good as it gets, when healthy. They will be a strong opposition come playoff time.

The Rockets lost their last three games that included a thriller 123 to 122 loss to the Washington Wizards. What’s been weird for the Rockets this season’s Rockets team, is that every time they look to be finally out of their rut, they fall right back into another one. Dwight Howard has been ejected in back-to-back games, putting his team into an awful situation. Those ejections seems to overshadow his best season in a Houston uniform. The biggest issue with this team is the defense. They rank 29th in the NBA for points allowed. James Harden and company does have a superior three-point shooting capability, that they are likely to execute against the Heat.

Miami Heat vs Brooklyn Nets – 01/26/16 Preview

The Miami Heat (24-21) will be travelling to Brooklyn on Tuesday night to face the Nets (12-33) on Tuesday night at the Barclay Center. Miami are odd favorites to win (line: -3.5). Play in the most exciting daily fantasy basketball, including the newest Point Spread and $10K Grand Action contests only at Fanpicks the premiere daily fantasy sports site.

NBA MIAvsBKN 1-26-16

Miami comes into this game full of confidence off a surprising road victory against the Chicago Bulls on Monday 89-84. With a lot of changes to their lineup and bench players stepping up and making solid contributions helped them. The Heat was led by veteran star player Dwayne Wade who racked up 28 pts, 7 rebounds, 5 assists despite a sore shoulder. Gerald Green, also struggling with a knee tendinitis injury, came off the bench and added 9 pts, 3 rebounds and 2 assists. This was only Miami’s 9th victory in 21 outings. They will be wanting to avenge a 111-105 loss to the same Nets back in December in Miami. The biggest challenge they will face on the second half of a back to back might be containing big man Brook Lopez.

The Nets are also coming off a surprise victory against the Oklahoma City Thunder 116-106 this past Sunday. Brooke Lopez against performed at his standards with a 31 pts, 10 boards double double performance. Thaddeus Young added 14 pts, 14 rebounds, 3 assists, a steal and a block in a stellar performance as well. Brooklyn overall is still struggling having posted only 2 wins out of their 12 past games. The Heat defense, currently ranked third in the league for fewest points allowed per game (95.8).
