Denver Broncos vs Oakland Raiders Preview

The reigning Super Bowl champion Denver Broncos are in a tight three-way battle for supremacy in the AFC West and will visit the surprising Oakland Raiders on Sunday (Enter Contest) in a showdown for first place in the division. The Raiders are 5-0 on the road en route to their 6-2 mark and enter a stretch of four consecutive home games.

Derek Carr threw for a staggering 513 yards and four touchdowns in a 30-24 win at Tampa Bay as Oakland kept pace with Denver atop the division. Carr is the third player in history to throw for at least 500 yards with four TDs and zero interceptions in a game.

While the Raiders are off to their best start since 2001 behind a potent offense, the Broncos continue to flex the defensive muscles that paved their path to the Super Bowl last season. Denver is tied with Buffalo for the NFL lead with 26 sacks while linebacker Von Miller is second with 8.5. Gary Kubiak’s team has dominated the series in recent seasons, winning eight consecutive matchups before Oakland ended the streak in the Mile High City last December.

ABOUT THE BRONCOS (6-2)

Star cornerback Aqib Talib is in danger of missing his second straight game, flying to California on Thursday to get a second opinion on his ailing back. Denver has quality depth at the position as Bradley Roby stepped in for Talib and earned AFC Defensive Player of the Week honors after returning an interception for a touchdown in a 27-19 win at San Diego. Rookie running back Devontae Booker hurt his shoulder in his first start in place of an injury C.J. Anderson, but is expected to go against Oakland. Emmanuel Sanders and Demaryius Thomas are the top two targets for Trevor Siemian with 44 and 42 receptions, respectively. Thomas needs two receptions to become the fourth player in franchise history with 500.

ABOUT THE RAIDERS (6-2)

Carr leads the AFC with 17 touchdown passes versus only three interceptions and is getting a lot of mileage from his wide receiver tandem of Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree. Cooper had 12 catches for 173 yards and a touchdown last week to boost his team-leading total to 52 receptions while Crabtree hauled in his NFL high-tying sixth touchdown catch. Defense has been a nightmare for the Raiders, who are ranked 31st in the league, surrendering a total of 410.4 total yards while being equally generous against the run and pass. Khalil Mack, who has five of Oakland’s 11 sacks, recorded five in the win at Denver last season.

College Football Fantasy Draft News 10-22-2015

Utah Utes versus USC Trojans College Football Fantasy Preview 10-24-2015

It will be a PAC 12 conference matchup from college football as the USC Trojans will host the Utah Utes. DFS draft managers can tune to FOX TV at 7:30PM Eastern Time from LA Coliseum on October 24th to follow the results of their roster picks.

When these two teams met last year it was Utah posting the 24-21 victory at home. Utah is 6-0 as they defeated the Arizona St Sun Devils at home last week by the score of 34-18. It was a big fourth quarter for the Utes in the win as they outscored the Sun Devils 20-0. The Utes running game struggled for 72 yards on 31 carries. The team got production from their passing attack throwing for 297 yards. It was nice defensive performance by the Utes by limiting ASU to just 257 yards with only 15 rushing on 28 carries. Utah is 26th best in college football in scoring defense as they limit their opponents to just 19.5 points per game. Offensively the Utes score 36.5 points a game good for 29th best in the nation.

The USC Trojans 2015 season has been a disappointment. They have lost two straight and three of their past four games. The team is 3-3 on the year and has played poorly defensively in losses to Stanford at home and at Notre Dame where the team surrendered 41 points in both games. Last week in the defeat at Notre Dame the Trojans appeared faster and stronger than Notre Dame but were having a difficult time reading the run-option plays that was run. As a result USC was lit up for 214 rushing yards for 6.1 yards per carry. The Trojans did pile up 590 yards of offense but had trouble sustaining drives by going 6 of 16 on third down.

Utah Utes QB:

Travis Wilson

The Utes senior quarterback is completing 68% of his passes with seven touchdowns and three picks. In the win against Arizona St Wilson completed 26 of 36 passes for 297 yards with two touchdowns. He had a monster game on the road at Oregon passing for four touchdowns.

The senior wide receiver has seen action in all four years at the school. Scott has caught 21 balls for 274 yards with two touchdowns. He is averaging 13 yards a catch this year. Kenneth Scott is coming off his biggest game of the year as he caught five passes for 116 yards and a touchdown.

USC Trojans QB:

Cody Kessler

The Trojans signal caller is completing 68% of his throws for 1818 yard with 17 touchdowns and five picks. During the Trojans two game losing streak Kessler has thrown two picks in each game. Kessler had 365 yards passing and two touchdowns in the loss at Notre Dame last week.

USC Trojans RB:

Ronald Jones II

The freshman running back has made the most from his carries. Jones II has run for 380 yards on 44 carries with three touchdowns. He is averaging 8.6 yards per carry.

USC Trojans WR:

JuJu Smith-Schuster

Smith-Schuster leads the Trojans with 39 catches for 758 yards with seven touchdowns. He had a good game at Notre Dame with six receptions for 139 yards and a touchdown. The USC sophomore wide receiver had a long gain of 75 yards on the Fighting Irish. JuJu is averaging 19.4 yards per catch this year.

California Golden Bears versus Utah Utes

College Football Fantasy Picks 10-10-2015

It will be a battle between undefeated teams in the PAC 12 as the Utah Utes will be home to the California Golden Bears. College football fantasy draft GMs can tune to ESPN on Saturday October 10th at 10PM Eastern Time to track the results of their fantasy rosters.

California Golden Bears are a 5-0 team. A check of their schedule and they have gone on the road and registered victories at Texas and Washington. The win against the Huskies looks good after Washington defeated USC on Thursday night. Cal had a pretty bad defense last year and some have to be concerned about the 44 points they allowed to an offensively challenged Texas Longhorns team in week three. Good thing Cal put up 45 in that game. Last week they hosted Washington St and won 34-28. California was able to force 4 turnovers by Washington St for the win. This game is a big deal for Utah as ESPN Gameday is on site to broadcast their pregame show festivities and it has fired up an already loud fan base.

The Utah Utes are 4-0 and will come off a bye week on Saturday. Two weeks ago the Utes traveled to Oregon and came away with a dominating 62-20 road victory. The Utes were up 27-13 at the half and held the Ducks to just seven second half points while putting up 35 on Oregon. Utah had a +3 turnover margin in the victory and ran for 273 yards for 6 ½ yards per carry.

California Golden Bears QB:

Jared Goff

The junior quarterback has started all three years at the school. In 2015 Goff has completed 70% of his throws for 1630 yards with 15 touchdowns and four picks. In the win against Washington St Goff hit on 33 of 45 throws for 390 yards with four touchdowns and one pick. He has thrown for no less than 300 yards and three touchdowns in four of his five games.

California Golden Bears RB:

Khalfani Muhammad

The running back has also seen significant action in all three years at the school. Muhammad has 39 carries for 350 yards and a touchdown. He is averaging 9 yards per carry on the year.

Vic Enwere

Just a sophomore, Enwere has 54 carries on the season for 257 yards and five touchdowns. He ran five times last week against the Cougars for 48 yards averaging 9 ½ yards per carry.

California Golden Bears WR:

Kenny Lawler

Lawler leads the Golden Bears with 27 catches for 399 yards and eight touchdowns. He had six catches for 105 yards last week with two touchdowns. He also caught two touchdown passes in a week three win at Texas.

Bryce Treggs

The senior wide out has caught 17 passes for 272 yards with two touchdowns. Against Washington St, Treggs had four catches go for 65 yards and a touchdown. He is averaging 16 yards per catch on the season.

Utah Utes QB:

Travis Wilson

The Ute senior quarterback has completed 68% of his passes for 513 yards with four touchdowns and one pick. In week four at Oregon Wilson threw for 227 yards and four touchdowns. He is a threat to run the football with six carries for 100 yards and a touchdown at Oregon.

Utah Utes RB:

Devontae Booker

Booker has been a workhorse in 2015. He already has 106 carries on the year and has rushed for 443 yards and four touchdowns. The Utes senior running back has caught 15 passes out of the backfield for 149 yards. He has had no fewer than 22 rushing attempts in any one game.

Utah Utes WR:

Britain Covey

A freshman is leading the Utah Utes receiving corps with 17 grabs for 182 yards and two touchdowns. In the Oregon game Covey caught two passes for 55 yards with two touchdowns.

Kenneth Scott

Scott has caught 12 passes for Utah in 2015 for 124 yards and a touchdown. The senior wide out had a season high eight catches at Oregon that went for 75 yards with a touchdown.

These two PAC 12 foes met last year with Oregon posting a 51-27 road victory. In the win the Ducks had balance offensively as they ran for 269 yards and threw for 239 for a total of 508 gained on the Utes defense. Utah was one of the better defenses from the PAC 12 last year as they were very competitive against their opponents and seldom got blown out.

Utah is a perfect 3-0 on the year. They have a notable home win to Michigan in week one. This is their second road game of the year. Last week the Utes were at Fresno St and won 45-24. It was not a clean game for the Utes as they lost three turnovers and didn’t get much yardage from their passing game. Defensively they allowed 241 yards to the Bulldogs offense with three touchdown passes.

Oregon is 2-1 with their loss coming on the road in week two at Michigan St losing 31-28. Their home wins this year have come against weak opponents in Georgia St and Eastern Washington. In the Ducks loss at the Spartans the team struggled on third down converting 4 of 13 tries. The Oregon run game did not perform rushing for 123 yards on 43 carries for less than three yards per carry.

Oregon Ducks QB:

Vernon Adams Jr

The senior sat out the Georgia St game to get ready for this PAC 12 tilt against the Utes. In the loss to Michigan St Adams Jr. threw for 309 yards with a touchdown but two picks. He had only six rushing yards on his 14 carries in the game.

Oregon Ducks RB:

Royce Freeman

Freeman is getting the bulk of the work at running back. The sophomore has 55 carries for 373 yards and five touchdowns. Against Michigan St the toughest opponent thus far the ball carrier had 92 yards rushing on 24 carries and a touchdown but only 3.8 yards per rush.

Oregon Ducks WR:

Braion Addison

A junior wide receiver Addison leads the team by far with 13 catches for 185 yards with a touchdown. He shined in the Michigan St game grabbing seven balls for 138 yards with a long gain of 30 yards.

Utah Utes QB:

Kendal Thompson

Thompson a senior has been forced into action due to the injury to Travis Wilson. At Fresno St last week Thompson completed 19 of 25 throws for 159 yards with a touchdown and pick.

Utah Utes RB:

Devontae Booker

The senior running back for the Utes has 345 yards rushing on 84 carries and four touchdowns. At Fresno St last week Booker had 156 yards rushing on 31 carries and two rushing touchdowns. Booker is a workhorse with 31 carries in back to back games. Devontae Booker is a fantasy football draft managers dream as not only does he get tons of carries but he co-leads the team in receptions with 14 catches for 126 yards.

Utah Utes WR:

Britain Covey

It is a freshman wide out who leads this unit in catches with 14 on the year for 127 yards. Covey had just three catches in his first road game of his college career last week for eight yards. He caught five balls against Michigan in week one with a long gain of 20 yards.
