NBA Fantasy News

Paul George puts 2014 behind him.

Indiana’s forward Paul George found his U.S. National teammates in preparation to the 2016 Rio Olympics without any apprehension, he assured Tuesday. He is two year’s removed from a serious injury that took him out prior to the 2014 FIBA World Cup. He fell awkwardly on his foot while fouling James Harding during a scrimmage at practice in Las Vegas. The team ended up winning the tournament without him. Despite all of that, he’s ready to put it all behind him and give it is all for the Gold. George will finally get the chance to play for his nation, something he is most proud of.

Team USA is currently preparing for Rio in Las Vegas. For George, coming back to train where he got hurt isn’t a problem. He knows that injuries can happen anywhere, anytime to anyone. The injury caused him to miss almost all of the 2014-15 NBA season. He since found his stride scoring a career-best 23.1 points per regular season game. Under his drive, the Pacers made it to the 2016 playoffs. The got bumped early though losing in the first round against the Toronto Raptors.

Head Coach Mike Krzyzewski will lead his third Olympic squad. Under his tutelage, team USA has yet to lose a game since the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Since that time the teams hold a record of 34-0, which includes two Olympics games and two FIBA world cup.

Team USA will be represented once again by an elite squad of NBA players despite some bowing out due to the unsafe nature of Brazil.  They are still favorite to land the coveted gold medal. The Golden State Warriors will have three representative at the games, with shooting guard Klay Thompson, power forward Draymond Green and newly acquired small forward Kevin Durant. The team will also rely on guards Kyrie Irving, Jimmy Butler, DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry, forwards Paul George, Harrison Barnes, and Carmelo Anthony, and centers DeMarcus Cousins and DeAndre Jordan.

Portland Trail Blazers vs Los Angeles Clippers

The Los Angeles Clippers will host the visiting Portland Trail Blazers tonight at the Staples Center. FanPicks is proud to bring you this Fantasy NBA Basketball preview. Take a break from March Madness and come play in our NBA Magic Million contest where you can win up to a $1 million this week at FanPicks.

Fantasy NBA Basketball Portland vs LAC

The Clippers are currently on one their worst stretches of the season  and lost 5 of their last 6 games surprisingly.  A matter fact, they haven’t won consecutive games since the start of this month. They’re getting beaten badly in the rebounds sections, having been outrebounded 11 straight games. It’s difficult to understand how that’s happening with their big man DeAndre Jordan ranking 2nd in the league in boards. The team is really lacking to keep up with Jordan and will need to step it up with the playoffs right around the corner.

The Trail Blazers come into this  matchup having won 2 of their last 3 games including a crucial victory in their playoff contention against the Dallas Mavericks. The Mavs and Blazers have been battling this second half of the season non stop for the final spots in the Western Conference. With Portland on a slump recently, having won only 4 games out of their last 12, they will definitely need to get back in their hot form of January-February. This will be another critical test for their playoff race but another undervalued asset of their team is their rebounding. With that being, they should take advantage of the Clippers front court difficulties when Jordan isn’t on the floor as they now rank 5th in the NBA in rebounds.

NBA Monday Night Fantasy Picks 2/29

FanPicks has your your NBA Monday night fantasy picks for the basketball games tonight. Come enjoy some DFS action and contests at

If you want to spend your money at point guard, the best option is Russell Westbrook. On a night with lots of good options at guard (Paul, Harden, Wall, Irving, Thomas), you may be able to get away with Westbrook without the normal 40 percent ownership that goes along with him. He always has potential for 50+ fantasy points and he may be avoided by others because of his massive salary and the fact that he has been outshone by Durant lately. But Westbrook is the guy to put up huge numbers tonight against the Kings.

If you want to save your money for a big pick at forward or center you have options. Ish Smith from the 76ers has quietly been putting up good fantasy value lately and he comes with a cheap price tag of only $4700. Monta Ellis also has potential for some good numbers, although with that Indiana offense, it is hard to determine which player will get the big numbers on any given night.

But then again, Durant could continue to outshine Westbrook. The way that offense goes, both players usually take the majority of the fantasy value but it tends to lean in one direction or the other. For a secondary lineup, it is a safe to hedge your bets with Durant over Westbrook because you can always expect some big number from one of the two.

However, if you want to win your Daily Fantasy Tournament, you need to pick a player that most others are avoiding. Tonight I believe that player is Lebron James. He is projected similar to Durant, but due to a couple of down games lately, his status as the best player in the NBA is very much in question. Obviously James always has potential for huge numbers, and if he is low ownership as well, that is the best case scenario for winning some serious cash in your fantasy contest.

If you are looking for some value at this position some good options are Will Barton for the Nuggets at $5400, Zach Randolph for the Grizzlies at $5400, and Gordon Hayward or Derrick Favors, both from the Jazz for $5800 and $6100 respectively. Barton and Randolph will be matched up in what should be a close game between the Nuggets and the Grizzlies. Vegas has the total at 207 with the spread at 3 favoring the Grizzlies.

The top picks of the night are between Dwight Howard and Deandre Jordan. Jordan is a safer pick as Howard tends to get into foul trouble and see limited minutes, but if you want to win your daily fantasy tournament, safe is not the way to go. I would rather put my money on Howard putting up 40+ fantasy points that stick with the consistent 30 fantasy points from Jordan.

For value at center Ruby Gobert from the Jazz should be able to put up good value at a salary of only $5400. One of the biggest determinant factors of ownership is team. A player on Golden State or Oklahoma City will always have ownership of 20 to 30 percent or higher. But if you pick players from low market teams such as the Jazz, the Bucks, or the Timberwolves, you can expect less ownership and more value for your money.

Fanpicks hosted the first ever Cross Sport Daily Fantasy Sports Tournament this weekend with the Pro Bowl action. This contest features a lineup selected with 6 NFL players and 3 NBA players with their cumulative totals contributing to your lineup point total. With Fanpicks unique scoring system, which equates scoring between sports, Fanpicks is the only Daily fantasy site that can offer such a contest. So even if you missed the Pro Bowl contest, we will offer a similar contest next week for the Super Bowl (and will be the only Daily Fantasy site offering Super Bowl daily fantasy contests)!

NFL Cross Sport Contest

Here’s the rundown of what players won you your Daily Fantasy Cross Sport Contest last weekend.

The 6 NFL Positions included in a Cross Sport lineup are Quarterback, Running Back, 2 Wide Receivers, a Tight End, and a Utility position (which can be a Running Back, Receiver, or Tight end). With the explosive offenses, there was value to be found all over the place this weekend. Here were the picks to make to win you the weekend.

Though he had to share some of the play time with the other Quarterbacks on the roster, Russell Wilson was able to put in some decent numbers in a short period of time for Team Irvin. He threw for 164 yards and three touchdowns and was the only quarterback other than Winston to not throw an interception. He ended the day with almost 19 fantasy points leading the charts of quarterbacks.

Running Back

Just like most weeks during the regular season, there was not much fantasy value to be found at running back. There was only one rushing touchdown in the game by Doug Martin for Team Rice—along with 20 rushing yards, and 5 receptions for 20 receiving yards totaling 15 fantasy points.

Devonta Freeman and Todd Gurley each had a receiving touchdown. Freeman totaled 17 rushing yards, 2 receptions, 27 receiving yards, and 1 receiving touchdown for 10.4 fantasy points. Gurley totaled 18 rushing yards, 18 receiving yards, 2 receptions, and a receiving touchdown for 9.6 fantasy points.

Wide Receiver

Heres where the value racked up as many different receivers broke away for long touchdown catches. The yardage leader was Allen Robinson with 2 receptions for 105 receiving yards and a touchdown — 21.5 fantasy points. Deandre Hopkins and Jarvis Landry each had nice games as well as Hopkins had 3 catches for 71 yards and a touchdown— 16.1 fantasy points and Landry had 3 catches for 81 yards and a touchdown — 17.1 fantasy points.

Tight End

The top pick at Tight End was Travis Kelce for Team Rice. He had a pair of receiving touchdowns and 5 receptions for 91 yards earning him a total of 26.1 fantasy points. Delanie Walker was also able to put together some value with a big touchdown pass. He had 3 catches for 80 yards and a touchdown for 17 fantasy points.

The NBA positions included in a Cross Sport lineup are Guard, Forward, and Center— with one of each being included in your 9 player cross sport roster.

Klay Thompson took over as Curry had a rare off day shooting only 5-17 from the field. Thompson however scored 34 and totaled 29 fantasy points. You’re next best choice at Guard was Deron Williams with 27 game points and 25.5 fantasy points.

Thompson wasn’t the only one who picked up the pace with Curry’s struggles. Draymond Green was also able to put together a big fantasy day with 10 rebounds, 10 assists, and 20 points for a triple-double and 37.5 fantasy points. If you didn’t have Green, Aaron Gordon for Orlando would have been a good alternative at Forward as he had 19 points and 14 rebounds for 33.5 fantasy points.

Pau Gasol and Deandre Jordan each put together big games in the Bulls vs Clippers game. Gasol had 14 rebounds and 15 points with a fantasy total of 28 fantasy points. He was outperformed however by Jordan who had 20 rebounds, 17 points, and 4 blocks totaling 40 fantasy points. Nikola Vucevic for the Magic would have boosted your lineup as well as he had 13 rebounds and 16 points totaling 32 fantasy points on the day.

Los Angeles Clippers vs Indian Pacers – 01/26/16 Preview

NBA LACvsIND 1-26-16

The Clippers have played without their star Blake Griffin for the past 14 games but have still been able to post an impressive 11-3 record without him. They’re coming back from a tough loss to Toronto and may be starting to feel the Griffin-less effect. Chris Paul lead LA in scoring last game with double-double performance posting 23 pts and 11 assists.

Indiana will probably play again without their starting Center Ian Mahinmi. Their big man missed 3 of the last 4 games due to an ankle and heel injury. It’s likely that Jordan Hill will get the start, coming back from an impressive double-double last game with 17 pts and 13 rebounds. The Pacers have lost their past 2 games but will be rested this time after their back to back games from Friday. Paul George, their usual high scorer posted a team high 34 pts performance during their last game against the Sacramento Kings.

Los Angeles Clippers vs New York Knicks – 01/22/16 Preview

One of the hottest teams in the NBA will spend Friday night at Madison Square Garden as the Los Angeles Clippers (27-14) will battle with the New York Knicks (22-22). The Clippers are the odd favorites to win (line: -1.5). Here is the projected lineup:

Projected Lineup
Starting Lineup

The sizzling Clippers lost to Cleveland Cavaliers last night by the mark of 115-102, only their second loss in the last 13 games. Chris Paul recorded team high 30 pts and 9 assists in the loss.  J.J. Reddick added 17 points while DeAndre Jordan posted a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds on the night. Jordan is averaging 13.5 boards per game for L.A., second-best in the league behind Andre Drummond. Holding tight to their 4th place in the tough Western Conference are now12-8 on the road.

The Knicks enter Friday’s contest full of confidence following a clutch OT win over the Jazz on Wednesday. After trailing for most of the game, the team tightened the gap midway through the 4th quarter. Carmelo Anthony had a huge game posting 30 pts and 9 assists, shooting 13 of 20. Robin Lopez added 22 pts and shot 11 for 14 with Kristaps Porzingis fouling out for the second time this season but still contributing 16 pts. The rookie is having a solid season where he averages 14 pts and 7.9 rebounds on top of starting for all 44 games this season. The Knicks are on a six game winning streak at the Madison Square Garden and have a 13-8 record there.

Charlotte Hornets vs. Los Angeles Clippers

Two teams headed in opposite directions early in 2016 meet on Saturday afternoon in Los Angeles as the free-falling Charlotte Hornets (17-18) take on the white hot Clippers (23-13). is proud to announce its RotoPicker free to use tool, which allows you to create winning line ups and dominate your fantasy basketball competition.  Play the most exciting contest, including the newest $25K Grand Action and Point Spread contests only at the premiere daily fantasy basketball

Starting LineupThe Hornets are looking like a shell of the team that went 10-5 in November and 7-7 in December. Winless in 2016 and losers of eight of their last ten match-ups, the team that once threatened to make some noise in the Southeast now sits at fourth place in the division and are coming off a 111-102 road loss to the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday night. All five Hornets starters managed to post double digits in the defeat, which saw Kemba Walker once again lead the club in scoring with 25 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assists, while Jeremy Lin and Marvin Williams each contributed 15 points apiece. Cody Zeller put up a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds in a game that saw Charlotte unable to overcome a slew of defensive flubs down the stretch. Part of the team’s woes comes down to their injured list, which features Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (shoulder) out for the season and Al Jefferson (knee) out as long as six weeks after undergoing meniscus tear surgery last week.

The Clippers, meanwhile, have entered the new year as the hottest team in the NBA after a somewhat bumpy start to the season. The unit was 10-8 at the end of November but have won seven consecutive games, the latest on the road against the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday, 109-98. Los Angeles improved to 12-7 away from Staples Center as Chris Paul led the way for the team with 21 points and 19 assists. Adding another double-double was Andre Jordan with 14 points and 14 boards as the Clippers begin to close the gap in the West, where they currently sit at fourth place. Wednesday’s contest saw the team score 50.6% from the field, a strong point for Los Angeles as they currently rank fourth in the league with an average of 46.3% field goal shooting per game this season. The Clippers also rank fifth in offense, averaging 103.8 points per contest. Saturday’s game is the first of five at home for the team before heading out on a five-game road trip later in the month.

Los Angeles Clippers vs. Oklahoma City Thunder

The Memphis Grizzlies (22-15) will be hosted by the Portland Trail Blazers  (15-22) at the Moda Center on Wednesday evening. is proud to announce its RotoPicker free to use tool, which allows you to create winning line ups and dominate your fantasy basketball competition.  Play the most exciting contest, including the newest $10K Grand Action and Point Spread contests only at the premiere daily fantasy basketball site

Fantasy basketball The Clippers are playing their best basketball of the season and it’s coming at a rather strange time. They lost Blake Griffin last month to a quad injury and have been winning non-stop since. In fact, the Clippers come into this game in the midst of a season-long six-game winning streak. The team has opted to go to small-ball and everyone is performing better because of it. The most encouraging part about that recent six-game winning streak is that the defense is playing far better than before. It’s scary to think that Griffin is due back soon and this team will ultimately improve.

The Blazers have also been playing without one of their best players recently and also playing better without him. The Trail Blazers had won four of their last five games before Damian Lillard returned for their last game, in which they lost to the Memphis Grizzlies. Lillard really struggled there as his stroke was off and he committed seven turnovers in the loss. It’s bizarre that this team is playing better without Lillard and the only direct correlation is the team’s defense when he’s in the lineup. In any case, Lillard is still one of the elite point guards in the NBA and they are surely a better team with him in the lineup than out of it. What Portland has been thriving off of this season is their surprising rebounding, as they rank fifth in rebounds per game. This should be a close game, as the Clippers come into this matchup as a four-point favorite.

NBA Fantasy Basketball FG Shooting Leaders

The King of the Threes

While Stephen Curry has been getting all the credit this year as the three point king, it is interesting to learn that he is in fact not the most efficient three point shooter out there.  While he ranks 5th on the list as far as efficiency for players who have shot at least 30 threes so far this season.  This is important since the three pointer is the most valuable stat in Fanpicks scoring.  However, missing a three does not cost a player any fantasy points so it is much more valuable to have Stephen Curry throwing up a a ridiculous number of three pointers compared to Kawhi Leonard, who may be slightly more efficient, but only attempts a third of the shots.

Fantasy basketball

Overall Shot Percentage

We can assess players based on their overall shot percentage instead of just threes alone.  You notice here that Centers dominate this list as they rarely attempt any long shots and remain in the paint.  The big surprise here is DeAndre Jordan, who is widely known for his inability to make free throws, actually has the second best shot percentage in the NBA.  What he lacks in free throw ability, he more than makes up for with defensive prowess and shots in the paint.  Tony Parker and Andre Miller are the only two guards on this top 20 list.

Texas Tech Red Raiders versus Texas Longhorns NCAA Football Real Money Fantasy Picks 11-26-2015

It’s the battle of Texas NCAA programs during thanksgiving. It’s going to sizzle like a turkey dinner. Fantasy football GM’s can tune to FS1 on Thursday November 26th at 7:30PM Eastern Time to track the results of their DFS roster picks.

The Texas Tech Red Raiders are 6-5 overall this year, but 3-5 against conference teams. Their offensive squad has been putting up excellent numbers. The Red Raiders are third in the nation in yards gained with 588 yards per game. It’s a lot due to their passing game, which is ranked just behind Washington State for most in the NCAA. They look like a team going in the right direction.

The Texas Longhorns have not played to their expectations. They are 4-6 overall and 3-4 within their conference. With frustrated fans demanding action, it will be interesting how they will redeem their status as champions.

Texas Tech QB:

Patrick Mahomes

Mahomes is 89 yards away from reaching 4,000, this the season. He has 31 touchdown and stands in 3rd for passing yards throughout the country. The Red Raiders QB has been solid and will continue to be for years to come.

Texas Tech RB:

DeAndre Washington

Washington has 1,282 rushing yards this year. It’s nothing like his quarterback’s numbers, but he can be enough of a weapon to be a wild card whenever. If given some space, he will run pass the scrimmage without any problems. Funny enough, he leads the team with 7 receiving TD’s. Washington also holds 12 rushing touchdown, this year.

Texas RB:

Chris Warren & Kirk Johnson

Both freshmen will get some playing time because of D’Onta Foreman’s pinkie injury. They combine for 23 carries with 100 yards and no touchdown. Despite that, they are slated to become highly efficient pair in the backfield.

Los Angeles Clippers versus Golden State Warriors Fantasy Basketball Preview 11-19-2015

The Clippers-Warriors rivalry of recent years is legendary leading to some of the most volatile and spirited matchups in the league. For fans who hate the buddy-buddy relationship that opponents have today, this is the game to watch; the Clippers and Warriors don’t like each other and don’t waste time pretending to either.

The action will no doubt be heated tonight as the Los Angeles Clippers open the doors of their home Staples Center to host the Golden State Warriors. The Warriors continue to show a strong playing form having routed all opponents for 12 straight wins this season, a fitting feat for the defending NBA Champions. The Golden State’s top gun and reigning MVP Stephen Curry has essentially become the Warriors’ point guard and shooting guard this season, taking even more of the offense over in the early going. There’s an ever growing clamor that the Warriors are well positioned to challenge and beat Michael Jordan’s Chicago Bulls 72 win season.

During last Tuesday game, the Warriors were steadfast in extinguishing a late rally beating the Toronto Raptors in a 115-110 match. Curry showed exceptional playing form scoring 37 points while completing nine assists to ensure the Warriors victory.

Leading all-star Clippers Chris Paul and Blake Griffin bring additional spice to one of the most talented team. Yet, the Clippers have not been able to reign in this talent relative to create the postseason momentum that was expected by this team. C DeAndre Jordan was grabbed up by Los Angeles even after he had agreed to play for the Dallas Mavericks.

The injury plagued Clippers come into this game following four losses in their last six games. This past Sunday saw the crippled Clippers rally from trailing at halftime to defeat the Detroit Pistons 101-96.

Here are some recent betting trends:

Golden State is 1-4 SU in their last 5 games when playing on the road against LA Clippers.
Golden State is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games on the road.
LA Clippers are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games at home.
The total has gone UNDER in 14 of Golden State’s last 21 games on the road.
The total has gone OVER in 9 of the LA Clippers last 12 games at home.

Both Chris Paul and J.J. Redick of the Clippers are sidelined with a groin and back injury respectively. Ranked as being one of the top five in overall best defensive play, we predict that the Warriors will have an easy win 103-91 over an injury weakened Los Angeles crew…

Posted in NBA

The Los Angeles Clippers are in the best shape they’ve ever been before. In each of their last four seasons, they collected a winning percentage of over .600. Never in 25 years of existence did they ever accomplish this. The Clippers are not the NBA second L.A. team anymore, they are number one in front of the Lakers.

The Clips came in hot before last year’s playoffs, winning 14 out of the 15 final game of the season. They finished 3rd in the Western Conference and entered the first round against the San Antonio Spurs. It was an intense battle that went all the way to a 7th game. Los Angeles Chris Paul came out clutch with a buzzer beater during this final game. Their playoffs journey continued with a meeting against the Houston Rockets. After taking the early series lead 3-1, the Clippers lost the next three games and were eliminated from the NBA championship race.

A lot of big changes were made during the offseason. General manager Dave Wohl grabbed the biggest name in the NBA free agent pool with Paul Pierce. Other major acquisitions were power forward Josh Smith, who played with Houston last year, small forward Wesley Johnson and shooting guard Lance Stephenson. Wohl was also able to resign center DeAndre Jordan to a new contract. With an improve team, the Clippers became contenders for the NBA title.

Los Angeles Clippers PG

Chris Paul

Paul led the NBA with 838 assists last year, and the team with 1564 total points. He’s truly one of the premiere playmakers in the league if not the best. Blake Griffin does make his job a little easier. But with the addition of Paul Pierce, the 30 year-old point guard fantasy value just elevated big time.

Los Angeles Clippers SG

J.J. Redick

Redick showed last season that he’s a skilled three point shooter. He ended up in the top 5 of the NBA three point’s field goal scorers with 200. With the arrival of big shot maker Paul Pierce, J.J. could see his number of outside shot attempts decrease. But because Pierce is closer to retirement, I wouldn’t worry about that too much.

Los Angeles Clippers SF

Paul Pierce

Pierce is 38 years old and closing in on the end of his hall of fame career, a last push towards the NBA championship is his goal. And there’s no better way to accomplish that than in his hometown of Inglewood with his former Boston Celtic coach Doc Rivers. He brings with him an array of offensive skills and defensive acumen. His experience will benefit the team a lot.

Wesley Johnson

While Pierce is still a great player. His body is getting old and could likely fall to injury. If that’s the case, Wesley Johnson is there as the backup option. A fourth overall draft pick in the 2010 draft, Johnson struggled to put up good offensive numbers in the NBA. But he did have career-highs with 9.9 Points/Game and 3.8 Field Goals/Game, last year.

Los Angeles Clippers PF

Blake Griffin

Griffin his somewhat of a force near the net. Every steps he take creates a rumble and his dunks have been highlights reels. He scored 1469 points last year, despite missing time due to a staph infection in his right elbow. The 26 years-old will be pushed this year by Josh Smith, who was acquired this summer by the team.

Los Angeles Clippers C

DeAndre Jordan

Fresh off re-signing with the Clippers, last year’s league leader in rebounds (with 1226) can now focus on the new season ahead. He also came third in the league in shots block with 183.
