Fantasy Basketball NBA Playoffs

San Antonio pretty much swept the season series and it will be very tough to think they can’t sweep this playoff series as well. On top of that, they held the Grizzlies to 87 pts or less in 3 of those 4 games. On Paper, this is the most loopsided series and the Spurs are extremely high favorites to win all games, the largest favorite in the opening.
The Spurs come into this matchup however having lost 3 of their last 5 games. This is the last concern of their head coach Gregg Popvich who’s simply a bit more worried about the health of his team. Most of their losses this end of season were due to resting players. What’s tremendous about this Spurs team is their form at home. They tied the NBA record for home wins going 40-1 this campaign. Their defense is a lot to blame for their success as they rank 1st in in pts allowed.
There’s a lot to admire about this Grizzlies team but unfortunately, not much to hope for. They start the series going against the best team at home and have battled with injuries of their top players such as Marc Gasol, Mike Conley, Mario Chalmers and Zach Randolph. They luckily snuck in the playoffs and in fact, by only winning one of their last 11 games. Zach Randolph is the real catalyst of their team and cannot do it himself. Their offense has held them back lately as they rank in the bottom 6 in both scoring and assists per game.

Fantasy NBA Basketball Lineup

San Antonio Spurs vs Golden State Warriors

Gregg Popovich’s hot San Antonio Spurs will be heading to Oakland tonight where they will face their arch Western Conference rivals, Golden State warriors. If the Warriors want to beat the Bulls 72 win season, they will need to win their last 4 games in a row starting tonight. This Fantasy NBA basketball lineup is brought you by Come PLAY in our Daily Fantasy Basketball contests at FanPicks and get a free chance to win $1 Million dollars!

Fantasy NBA Basketball Lineup

So this is it…. the march to 73 wins really starts here for the Warriors as they’re going into the questionably their toughest stretch of the season. A lot of people marked this game on their calendar as the day when the Warriors would lose their first home game of the season. Well, a lot of people were wrong. Ironically, not sure if it’s the pressure but Golden State has lost 2 of their last 3 home games. Many people predicted them blowing out the 72 wins record since no one expected losses against the Boston Celtics and furthermore, a struggling Minnesota Timberwolves squad. It’s now that they’re finally looking like humans. Unfortunately for them, this is the worst time of the year to be slipping in some kind of slump. With the playoffs right around the corner, all the squads are building up the blueprints on how to beat the Warriors. They will most likely come out flying this game but the issue is down the stretch. Will they survive the 4th quarter and tenacity of the San Antonio Spurs as they did back in January when they technically blew them out at home or they will struggle in the last 4 minutes of the game like they did against the T-Wolves. Regardless, this matchup will be exciting to watch.

The Spurs are on another level lately and come into this game having won 4 straight games. On top of that, if they actually beat the Warriors twice in their next 5 games remaining, they have a crack at the top seed in the Western Conference. A lot of speculation from experts believing that Gregg Popovich doesn’t care about beating records and getting the number one seed. It’s quite possible that he rests his top players like he has lately on the road. It would be a huge disappointment to NBA fans as well as Fantasy Basketball fans, so definitely avoid picking out the top Spurs players on your lineup but Ginobili should be hot tonight with a lot of responsibility.  So far this year, these teams have split the first 2 games when facing one another but with the home team winning each game.

Portland Trail Blazers vs Golden State Warriors

Daily Fantasy Basketball Projections

Stephen Curry’s record breaking Golden State Warriors (41-36) will try to push their season record and march towards victory # 73 when hosting Sunday night, the Portland Trail Blazers (41-36) in Oakland at the Oracle Arena. Daily Fantasy Basketball Projections

Golden State are on the brink of becoming the best NBA team ever but however hit a speed bump in their most recent game. They lost at home on Friday night against the Boston Celtics to halt their 54 game home winning streak. Surprisingly, Stephen Curry had the worst game of his season and committed 9 turnovers. He also missed an open 3 pt shot at the end of the game to tie it. They’re still headed for their second straight season leading record and most likely the best record in the NBA even if they drop only 1 game in the next 6, goals are still limitless for the Warriors though, as they are a 5-1 finish away from having the best record in NBA history. They will most likely avenge their loss against the Celtics.

The Trail Blazers are coming into this game winning Portland comes into this game on a 4 game winning streak and it couldn’t come at a better time. They ‘re currently on a 4 game winning streak and it couldn’t come at a better time. They’re now only 1 game away from the 5th place in the West. The Memphis Grizzlies are on slope and continue to fall down the ranks. What’s impressive is that their last 2 wins have come against elite teams from the East. With Damian Lillard setting his career high 52 pts in a win earlier this year against Golden State, look for him to have a great game this campaign.

Daily Fantasy Basketball Value Picks

Fanpicks brings you another edition of our Daily Fantasy Basketball Value Picks. It’s never easy assembling your fantasy team, especially with so many games on the schedule. We’re here to help you nail down those big picks by supplying you with value picks that can be the difference between first and last in YOUR contest.

Value Picks

D.J. Augustin $4900 – After posting back-to-back 35+ fantasy point games, Augustin will face a very vulnerable Mavericks squad. The Mavs allowed 133 points to the Kings, so the Nuggets are in a good position here tonight. Of course, Dallas could show it’s grit and play extra hard considering the shellacking they took but the guard is a pretty safe pick with a solid floor.

Shane Larkin $3700When I saw the headline that Larkin would getting the start last week, I immediately penciled him in as my value pick. His ability to shoot, and pass have anchored him to  two 25+ fantasy point fantasy games in those two starts. He’s a little riskier than Augustin, but much cheaper as well.

and once again…

Maurice Harkless $4000 – Since being thrust into the start lineup, the Trail Blazer has been nothing short of impressive scoring over 20 fantasy points in each game. Sacremento has been poor at defending against power forwards all season, and has been the league’s worst over the last 5 contests.

March Madness Results

Elite 8

The Elite 8 is now history for 2016, as only four teams remain in the battle to be named March Madness champion.

elite 8 resultselite 8 scores

The quarter-final round began on Saturday, March 26, when Buddy Hield led #2 Oklahoma to a 80-68 win over top ranked Oregon.

Later that day another #2 seed, Villanova had a strong start and held on to beat the top ranked and heavily favorited Jay Hawks. # 1 Kansas exits the tournament two rounds earlier than they would’ve liked to.

The round concluded on Sunday night with an expected result, as #1 North Carolina got their dabb on and defeated #6 Notre-Dame by a fair 88-74 margin. The game was close in the first half, but the Tar Heels grinded it out for the entire 40 minutes and held off any hopes of an ND comeback.

Sunday started with a pretty big upset when the highest remaining seed #10 Syracuse topped  #1 Virginia 68-62.

Four #1 seeds entered the Elite 8. Just one advanced. After a little number crunching we can see that North Carolina (the sole #1 remaining), has a $41% chance to win the championship.

They are the heavy favorite over Syracuse heading into the Final 4, with a projected winning percentage of 80%, while the other two candidates (Villanova, Oklahoma) equally have a 50%-50% chance of advancing to the championship round.

All teams are off until April 2, when the Final 4 tip-off.

March Madness

Elite 8

#10 Syracuse vs #1 Virginia

The widest spread among remaining seeds, we saw #10 Syracuse upset #1 Virginia by a score of 68-62.

Syrcause used a 29-8 run to rally from a 16-point deficit and stun Virginia in the regional final. Syracuse is now the first #10 seed to ever reach the Final Four, and the first double-digit seed since VCU accomplished the feat in 2011.

Don’t be confused though, the Orange are no stranger to the Final Four. They were there in 2013, and 2016 will mark the sixth time they reach the Final Four.

Guard Malachi Richardson hit three 3-pointers and shot 8-of-9 from the line to lead all scorers in this game with 23 points. He also tallied seven rebounds and a couple of steals. Perhaps the most impressive stat line though, is that 14 of Richardson’s points came in the game’s final nine minutes of the game. Very impressive for a freshman. Talk about clutch.

London Perrantes made a valiant effort as he went 6-for-10 for three, and led Virginia with 18 points in what ended up being their last game of the tournament.

#10 Syracuse has a tough task ahead, as the lone remaining #1 seed North Carolina await them in the Final Four.

#2 Oklahoma vs #1 Oregon Recap

Oklahoma is off to the Final Four for the first time since 2002.

Buddy Hield dropped 37 points in a Steph Curry like performance to send Oregon home from March Madness. Oh yeah, and he did it just to impress Kobe Bryant. As Hield said after the game “As soon as I saw Kobe was here, I knew I had to put on a show.”

He followed that up with “It was special man, I can’t tell you how special… A guy you really looked up to growing up. You don’t get that everyday…It’s kind of special that he knows who I am now. I appreciate Kobe taking his time coming out and watching, it means so much to me.”

Isaiah Cousins had the second best fantasy basketball day with 11 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 1 steal, while Jordan Woodard contributed 13 points, 1 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal himself.

Oregon’s Elgin Cook dropped 24 points plus 4 assists in the loss.

#2 Oklahoma will face fellow #2 seed Villanova in their Final Four matchup to see who will win the right to compete in the March Madness championship game.

Fantasy Basketball NBA Preview

Washington Wizards vs Los Angeles Lakers

Kobe Bryant’s struggling Los Angeles Lakers will host the travelling Washington Wizards at Staples Center on Sunday. FanPicks is proud to bring you this Fantasy Basketball NBA preview. Take a break from March Madness and come play in our NBA Magic Million contest where you can win up to a $1 million this week at FanPicks.

Fantasy Basketball NBA

Los Angeles have continued their poor form and lost 6 of their last 7 games. Their only win in that span came against a shorthanded Memphis Grizzlies squad. The main problems are endless with this Lakers team as they rank in the bottom 4 in pts scored, pts allowed and assists per game. Despite the great improvement of Julius Randle, coming off his 1st career triple-double in their most recent loss to the Denver Nuggets, their rookie star D’Angelo Russell got injured in that game and is unlikely to come back for this game as he continues the rehab of his ankle injury. The Lakers have much less to lose in this game than the Wizards, making them an unfortunate huge underdog for this game.

The Washington Wizards are now 3 games out of the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference with only 10 games left in the regular season. That same squad finished in the top 4 last campaign which shows a regression and is a huge disappointment for them. The biggest issue with this team is the rebounding as they rank 29th in the league in boards per contest. Their offense is stacked with John Wall and Bradley Beal but are clearly one big man away in the frontcourt from being a huge contender in the Eastern Conference. They are clear favourites for this matchup with way more motivation than the Lakers to get the W in this Sunday night matchup.

Sweet 16 Fantasy Preview

#2 Villanova vs #3 Miami

In this March Madness fantasy preview, we’re going to stay inside one matchup with a pair of particularly dynamic athletes on each side of the court.

Daniel Ochefu could be a major value pick. Tagged at just $5400, Ochefu has put up big numbers for #2 Villanova in their first two wins.

The 6-foot-11 senior center  is adept at finding the hole in the defense to give his perimeter-reliant team an option down-low. They can then pick their shots better, leading to higher team efficiency and touches for Ochefu.

He collected 17 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 blocks to lead Villanova to an 86-56 win over #15 UNC Asheville to begin March Madness, good for 44 fantasy points on

It was no fluke as he responded with a 34.5 fantasy point effort in Villanova’s second round contest versus #7 Iowa…and he only scored 6 real points.

He’s 10-14 from the floor during March Madness with 21 rebounds already. His all-around game and effort gives him a very nice floor value with a high ceiling. Not often do you find a guy that dynamic at that price range.

Though he may play a high-risk high-reward style on the court, the same high-floor, high-ceiling comment stands true for Angel Rodriguez from a fantasy standpoint.

He may be considered a gambler, but evidently it works out as the Hurricanes have made it to the Sweet 16.

Rodriguez scored 24 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 block with 3 turnovers in Miami’s first March Madness contest (79-72 vs Buffalo), good for 45 fantasy points.

In game two versus Wichita State the Hurricane’s guard sank 28 points, going 9 for 11 from the field and 3 for 4 beyond the arc. Now that’s very impressive, but also necessary when you have 7 turnovers in that game alone. He also had 2 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals to total 39 fantasy points.

Obviously the Hurricanes won the game, so they have lived by the sword. But will they die by it on Thursday versus a much more formidable opponent in #Villanova?

We’ll all just have to wait and see. No matter the outcome, the game will be exciting and these two stars will shine.

Daily Fantasy Basketball Lineup

While getting the most points does equate to winning, nailing down the optimal daily fantasy basketball lineup isn’t an exact science. Everyone has a different philosophy as to what the best strategy when creating a team is. Is it stack the top? Is it pile up as many high-priced stars as you can and then fill in the blanks with the cheapest options and hope for the best? Perhaps a well-balanced squad from top to bottom.

Well, that’s what I’m here for. I display different methods of attacking your DFS contest, and today was no different. Often I leave money on the table to display the true power of finding the best value picks, but sometimes I go for the gusto and max out. That’s what I did today. The recipe today was to start off with a bang, balance that out with a ton of value picks, and top it off with the best of what’s left.

How I began: I was really excited to have DeMarcus Cousins on my team tonight, and Giannis Antetokounmpo is also a must have at this point. That already occupied more than 30% of my cap space with a total of $21300 spent on the two big-men.

So obviously, I immediately went straight to the value picks. Bulls PF Bobby Portis led that list, as his 25.26 fantasy point average over his last three games is a great trade for his $4400 salary.

Let’s take a look at the rest of my daily fantasy basketball lineup.

Hollis Thompson at $4200 was my next snatch up. His last 10 games have been impressive, and 25 fantasy points tonight is not out of the question for the 76er.

I thought JaMychal Green could of been a solid pick tonight, but his price tag was a slight bit too high for my liking, and opted for the $1200 cheaper Myles Turner.

He has been averaging 23.43 fantasy points over his last 6 games, and that would be considerably higher without his 14.1 FP output against the Celtics.

After all my lower tier picks, I had just enough money to fit John Wall under the cap and insure another 40 points to my squad.

As usual, we’ll see how it plays out by the end of the night. Good luck to all.
