NLCS Game 6

Dodgers vs Cubs (Cubs lead series 3-2)

The Los Angeles Dodgers made the decision to save ace Clayton Kershaw forthe NLCS Game 6 instead of asking him to throw again on short rest in Game 5, and now they need him to save their season. Kershaw will take the mound on Saturday at Wrigley Field and try to prevent the host Chicago Cubs from clinching their first trip to the World Series since 1945 (Enter Contests).

The Cubs were shut out in Games 2 and 3 to fall behind 2-1 in the best-of-seven National League Championship Series but exploded for 18 runs in the next two contests. And just like that, they took the series lead. Addison Russell hit a two-run homer in each of the last two games. The Cubs also received four RBIs apiece from Anthony Rizzo and Javier Baez. .

Los Angeles now faces the task of winning two straight games on the road but is set up with its best two pitchers in Kershaw and Rich Hill in a potential Game 7.

Dodgers pitcher & team analysis – Clayton Kershaw (2-0, 3.72)

Kershaw allowed two hits in seven scoreless innings to earn the win in Game 2 at Wrigley Field after earning the save in the finale of the NLDS at Washington three days earlier. The former MVP is just 4-6 with a 4.39 ERA in his postseason career. He has never won two games in the same series.

Third baseman Justin Turner has reached base safely in 15 straight postseason games. Los Angeles committed five errors, leading to five unearned runs, in the last two games.

Cubs pitcher & team analysis – Kyle Hendricks (0-1, 3.00)

Hendricks allowed one run on three hits and four walks in 5 1/3 innings while going up against Kershaw in Game 2. He ended up with the loss in a 1-0 final. The regular-season ERA champion at 2.13, Hendricks took a liner off the forearm in his NLDS start but was not bothered by any lingering pain in Game 2.

Right fielder Jason Heyward is batting .071 in the postseason, which includes a 1-for-16 in the NLCS.

Monday’s Late Night Games

Giants (79-70) vs Dodgers (84-65)

Los Angeles are sending ace Clayton Kershaw to the mound on Monday night. They open a three-game series against the visiting San Francisco Giants (Enter Contests), who are fighting for a spot in the postseason with 13 games to play. The Dodgers are leading their division rival Giants by five games in the National League West, while the Giants pursue the Mets in the National League  wild card race. They are one game back of New York and just a game ahead of St. Louis.

Diamondbacks (63-86) vs Padres (62-87)

The Arizona Diamondbacks are visiting  the San Diego Padres. This will be the first of six games between the last two teams in the National League West. They are both looking to avoid a last-place finish before the regular-season comes to an end. The Diamondbacks have won five of their previous seven contests. Thanks in part of their surging offense. They have a one-game lead for fourth place over the Padres, who were swept in three games by the Colorado Rockies.

Blue Jays (81-68) vs Mariners (79-70)

The Seattle Mariners are focusing in making up ground in the American League wild-card race when they take on the Toronto Blue Jays at home.  They open a three-game series against their northern opponents. The Mariners avoided the series-sweep against Houston thanks to a 7-3 victory on Sunday. They have won nine of 11 to close within two games of the slumping Blue Jays for the second wild-card spot.

Astros (78-71) vs Athletics (66-83)

After coming up short of a three-game sweep in Seattle, the Houston Astros look to recharge and continue their quest toward a wild-card spot in the American League. They start the second half of their six-game road trip Monday with the series-opener against the Oakland Athletics. Houston lost 7-3 to the Mariners on Sunday, but remain three games back of Toronto for the second wild card. A chance for them to close down the gap is a likely scenario, as they play their next seven contests against AL West bottom-feeders Oakland and the Los Angeles Angels before another confrontation with Seattle at home.

MLB Daily Fantasy Baseball News

FanPicks (click to play) has you covered with Thursday’s MLB Daily Fantasy Baseball News!

Clayton Kershaw sidelined for 2 weeks.

The Los Angeles Dodgers placed the name of ace Clayton Kershaw on the 15-day disabled list due to a back injury. In his last start Sunday night against the Pittsburgh Pirates, he got the worst of it allowing 4 runs on 9 pitches. It was his second worst start this season.

Kershaw, who has been getting at-least 30 starts in six of his last seven season, is having one of it’s best campaign ever. Even with the Sunday’s loss, he shows a record of 11-2 and leads the National League with a 1.79 ERA. He’s also first in innings pitched (121), strikeouts (145), walks allowed per innings (WHIP, 0.727) and walks allowed per games (0.7). The Dodgers hold a record of 14-2 when Kershaw is on the mound and 29-35 when he’s not.

The O’s are on fire!

With Mark Trumbo’s 23rd home run of the season, the Orioles collected their 55th total since the start of June. It equals an MLB all-time June record held by the Oakland Athletics. They recorded 55 long balls in 29 June games back in 1996.  Trumbo pushed back over the wall one of Padres Christian Friedrich pitch in the fourth inning Wednesday. Manny Machado was on-base on that play and two runs were scored. Baltimore won the game 12 to 6. The O’s will have the opportunity to break the A’s record on Thursday night against the Seattle Mariners. This will be their 28th game in June.

The record for most homers hit in a single month is held by both the Orioles and Mariners, who knocked 58 long balls back in May 1987 and 1999 respectively.

A first in 40 years.

For the first time in 40 years, one team has chosen to not go with a designated hitter on purpose. Giants manager Bruce Bochy revealed that pitcher Madison Bumgarner will take the spot in an interleague game versus the Oakland Athletics Thursday night. It is the first time that an MLB manager makes this call since 1976. It’s not suprising though that this happens with Bumgarner, as he’s in a class of it’s own when it comes to solid pitching and hitting. No other MLB daily fantasy baseball pitchers is has talented as him with the bat. Since the beginning of his career, the 26 year-old pitcher picked up 13 home runs and 45 runs-batted-in.

New York, night of reunion .

The Mets and the Cubs will go head-to-head for the first time since the National League Championship series last October. The Mets will send Steven Matz (7-3) to the mound to start this four game series. In the Cubs side, they will hand the ball to John Lackey (7-4). The Mets have been underwhelming this season. They present a 40-37 record, which is good for third in the N.L. East division behind the Nationals and Marlins. The Cubs, on the other hand, are having an amazing year, standing above all 29 MLB teams with a 51-26 record.

  • The White Sox rested struggling third baseman Todd Frazier on Tuesday, it is unsure if he’ll play Wednesday.

Yankees News

  • Yanks pitcher Ivan Nova (5-3, 4.39), who will face the Rockies today,  has been excellent in his Interleague career, with an ERA of 2.13, including a 1.14 ERA in National League parks. In his only game against Colorado, however, he gave up four runs over six innings at Yankees Stadium in 2011.
  • Yankees outfielder Carlos Beltran missed Tuesday’s series opener with a swollen left knee. The Yankees are hopeful that Beltran would be able to play Wednesday.

MLB Opening Day Daily Fantasy Lineup

The day is finally here. The major league baseball season is now officially upon us, so Fanpicks is here to present to you our MLB Opening Day Daily Fantasy Lineup.

As everyone is starting off fresh, field players range between the $4800 and $2000 range. Mike Trout is the only exception to the rule at $5000.

Of course, pitchers are the gold mine of the sport ranging anywhere from Clayton Kershaw‘s $11000 cap hit, to Wily Paralta‘s $4300.

I opted for a slightly cheaper David Price instead of big-money Kershaw. The Red Sox new ace has a nice matchup against the not-so potent Cleveland Indians at 1 pm, so I’m looking to start off the season with a bang from my most expensive peice.

Take a look at the rest of my MLB Opening Day Daily Fantasy Lineup.

mlbopeningday

Bryce Harper is the “highest-paid” bat in my lineup. With a steady dose of up-and-comers, I needed to balance the risk of inconsistency out with a star veteran.

Cincinnati’s Joey Votto was also selected for the same reasons, and a strong spring leads me to believe he may start this season off with a bang.

While he may not have a ton of power, Jason Heyward should be a nice fantasy option this season. He is expected to bat second on Opening Day,  and should remain behind Dexter Fowler, and in front of some combination of Ben Zobrist, Anthony Rizzo, and Kris Bryant, so expect him to score a lot of runs this year.

Series Fantasy Value Picks:

P Clayton Kershaw – Los Angeles Dodgers

Kershaw let the first game slide to the Mets. It`s doubtful he will repeat this failure a second time around, if he gets to pitch in this series again.

P Steven Matz – New York Mets

Matz has been impressive in his first year in the big league. The sensational rookie could be the game changer in the fourth game of the series.

1B Adrian Gonzalez – Los Angeles Dodgers

Gonzalez is a home run threat every time he shows up at the plate.

SS Wilmer Flores – New York Mets

Flores made his case this year to earn the Mets starting shortstop gig.

OF Michael Conforto – New York Mets

Conforto made his MLB debut against the Los Angeles and even had a 4-for-4 in a 15-2 win over the Dodgers back on July 25th. The rookie has potential to be a Dodger nightmare.

Major League Fantasy Baseball Draft News October 9th 2015

Texas Ranges versus Toronto Blue Jays Game 2 MLB ALDS Real Money Fantasy Preview

Game 2 will begin from Toronto at 12:30PM Eastern Time on FOX Sports 1.

Texas Rangers 2B:

Rougned Odor

The bottom of the lineup did the damage for Texas in Game 1. Odor had a hit and RBI with three runs scored in the win on Thursday.

Texas Rangers C:

Robinson Chirinos

The Rangers catcher had a homer with two RBIs.

Texas Rangers P:

Cole Hamels

The Rangers left hander on the year is 13-8 with an ERA of 3.65 and WHIP of 1.19. Hamels has the edge of pitching in a pressure packed situation on Sunday as he was on the mound when Texas defeated the LA Angels to win the AL West division. He pitched a complete game nine innings and allowed two earned runs and just three hits.

Toronto Blue Jays DH:

Edwin Encarnacion contributed with two hits and an RBI in a losing cause in Game 1.

Toronto Blue Jays P:

Marcus Stroman

On the year the 24 year old is 4-0 with an ERA of 1.67 and WHIP of 0.96.

Rangers/Blue Jays Summary:

Stroman has had great success against the Texas Rangers lineup. They have just 2 hits in 24 at bats career wise against the Rangers right hander. Stroman gets the nod as the roster pick from the pitchers in this game. The left hander Hamels had had difficulty in the past battling Edwin Encarnacion. The Texas DH is hitting .357 life time against Hamels.

Fantasy Roster Pick Recommendations:

P: Marcus Stroman (Blue Jays)
DH: Edwin Encarnacion (Blue Jays)

Houston Astros versus Kansas City Royals MLB Game 2 ALDS Best Fantasy League Picks

They start from Kansas City at 3:30PM Eastern Time on FOX Sports 1.

Houston Astros P:

Scott Kazmir

The veteran left hander Kazmir is 7-11 with an ERA of 3.10 and WHIP of 1.21.

Kansas City Royals P:

Johnny Cueto

The Royals veteran right hander is 11-13 with an ERA of 3.44 and WHIP of 1.13.

Astros/Royals Summary:

The Royals first baseman Eric Hosmer has had success against Kazmir with a lifetime mark of .391. Omar Infante bats .407 against Kazmir with two homers and seven RBIs. Johnny Cueto is a free agent at the end of the year and has great motivation in the playoffs. Colby Rasmus has had the most success against Cueto in his career with a .333 batting average with a homer and five RBIs. Carlos Gomez has smacked two homers off Cueto in 12 at bats.

Fantasy Roster Picks Recommendations:

P: Johnny Cueto (Royals)
1B: Eric Hosmer (Royals)

Chicago Cubs versus St Louis Cardinals Game 1 NLDS MLB Fantasy Preview 10-8-2015

Game 1 of the NLDS series between the Chicago Cubs and St Louis Cardinals will be played on Friday October 9th at 6:30PM Eastern Time on TBS TV.

Chicago Cubs P:

Jon Lester

The veteran left hander in 2015 was 11-12 with an ERA of 3.34 and WHIP of 1.12.

St Louis Cardinals P:

John Lackey

The veteran right hander is 13-10 with an ERA of 2.77 and WHIP of 1.21.

Cubs/Cardinals Summary:

Jon Lester has had problems facing Jason Heyward in his career. Heyward is hitting .417 against Lester with a homer and two RBIs. In 40 at bats Cardinals shortstop Jhonny Peralta has belted three homers. Matt Holliday is 5 of 9 with three RBIs against the Cubs lefty. Cubs Chris Coughlan had hit Lackey pretty well by going 8 for 17 with two RBIs for a .417 batting average. Anthony Rizzo is 1 for 12 against Lackey.

Fantasy Roster Picks Recommendations:

LF: Chris Coghlan (Cubs)
RF: Jason Heyward (Cardinals)

New York Mets at LA Dodgers Game 1 NLDS MLB Cash Fantasy League Preview 10-8-2015

They face off from Dodgers Stadium in LA at 9:30PM Eastern Time on TBS TV.

New York Mets P:

Jacob DeGrom

The Mets right hander is 14-8 with an ERA of 2.54 and WHIP of 0.98.

LA Dodgers P:

Clayton Kershaw

Kershaw this year is 16-7 with an ERA of 2.13 and WHIP of 0.88.

Mets/Dodgers Summary

As a team the LA Dodgers hit just .175 against Jacob DeGrom. This has a look of a low scoring pitching duel that will be decided by each bullpen. Andre Eithier is 2 for 6 and Adrian Gonzalez 3 for 8 against DeGrom and the rest of the LA roster struggles. The Mets hit .213 against Kershaw. Ruben Tejada had five hits in 14 at bats against Kershaw and has drawn three walks.

Fantasy Roster Picks Recommendations:

P: Clayton Kershaw (Dodgers)
1B: Adrian Gonzalez (Dodgers)

Fantasy Baseball Best Picks of the Day – September 24th 2015

It was a sad day for all fantasy baseball fans yesterday, as one of the all-time greats in Major League Baseball passed away.  Yogi Berra was one of the best clutch hitters the world has ever seen. He leaves behind a great legacy and he will never be forgotten. The Yankees are back at home today and they will face the Chicago White Sox. It will be a special game in the mind of everyone. A pre-game moment of silence should be expected to remember Berra. With that in mind, let’s get to today’s hot fantasy picks:

P Clayton Kershaw – Los Angeles Dodgers

Season: 14 W, 7 L, 2.18 ERA, 272 Ks, 40 BBs

With a potential Cy-Young season on his hands, it’s hard to believe he could ever fail. He received his first loss since June 27 in his last outing. He will be looking for redemption against a D-Backs team that has roughed him up a little in their last meeting. And this time, it’s in Kershaw’s home-turf. You don’t mess with Kershaw twice in a row.

C A.J. Ellis – Los Angeles Dodgers

Season:  .230 AVG, 6 HRs, 17 RBIs, 20 Runs

Ellis has been sharing catching duties with Yasmani Grandal all-season long. Grandall faced the righties and Ellis, the lefties. Well today is Diamondbacks lefty Patrick Corbin. Last time the two met, Ellis had three fly out against Corbin, until he belted one over the fence against substitute Keith Hessler. If he hits those ball high, you never know what might happen.

1B Prince Fielder – Texas Rangers

Season: .304 AVG, 21 HRs, 84 RBIs, 73 Runs

Oakland A’s pitcher has been rehabbing a sore right shoulder in the past few weeks. He will make his first start since August 26. Prince Fielder hope to take advantage of this and get back on the right track. He was hitless in 5 games before getting a single last night.

2B Howie Kendrick – Los Angeles Dodgers

Season: .291 AVG, 9 HRs, 50 RBIs, 58 Runs, 6 SBs

He will be inserted into his usual cleanup spot when facing lefties. That his good especially when you play for Clayton Kershaw.

3B Miguel Rojas – Miami Marlins

Season: .265 AVG, 1 HR, 12 RBIs, 10 Runs

He is on a tear, and it will continue against underperforming rookie Alec Asher.

SS Brandon Crawford – San Francisco Giants

Season: .256 AVG, 19 HRs, 80 RBIs, 58 Runs, 5 SBs

Crawford will have plenty of fun tonight against Ian Kennedy, who has been struggling in the month of September.

OF Bryce Harper – Washington Nationals

Season: .341 AVG, 41 HRs, 95 RBIs, 116 Runs, 6 SBs

Did somebody say MVP? He’s having his best stretch of the season. With the Nats seeing their playoffs hope shrink a little more every day, it’s the time for the team to push hard. There is no other player who will push harder than Harper.

OF Melky Cabrera – Chicago White Sox

Season: .277 AVG, 12 HRs, 78 RBIs, 68 Runs, 3 SBs

Leave it to Cabrera to unfortunately spoil the return of the Yankees at home, the day after Yogi Bera’s passing. He is just having too good of a hot streak to pass on.

OF Ichiro Suzuki – Miami Marlins

Season: .238 AVG, 1 HR, 20 RBIs, 45 Runs, 11 SBs

Ichiro was out of the Marlins lineup in the last two games. A return to form against Phillies starter Alec Asher should be good for him.

Fantasy Baseball Picks Recap

P Clayton Kershaw – Los Angeles Dodgers

C A.J. Ellis – Los Angeles Dodgers

1B Prince Fielder – Texas Rangers

2B Howie Kendrick – Los Angeles Dodgers

3B Miguel Rojas – Miami Marlins

SS Brandon Crawford – San Francisco Giants

OF Bryce Harper – Washington Nationals

OF Melky Cabrera – Chicago White Sox

OF Ichiro Suzuki – Miami Marlins
