NBA Free Agency & Trades

NBA free agency and the trades this week have been on a full swing. With hundreds of millions of dollars being currently spent, there’s still a lot more to come with moving parts to board. FanPicks (click to play) breakdowns this week’s madness in Free Agency signings and Trades in the NBA!

Kevin Durant joins the Golden State Warriors

One of the biggest off season and trade frenzy question was answered Monday morning when Kevin Durant announced that he was leaving the Oklahoma City Thunder to arch Western Conference rivals Golden State Warriors. Durant’s formal introduction at Oracle Arena Thursday confirmed OKC’s fans’ nightmare as the face of their franchise moved on.

The MVP of the 2013-2014 season and 4 time NBA scoring leader joined the team of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. This is a gigantic earthquake that has shaken the NBA this week! A few weeks after losing in seven games against the Warriors, Kevin Durant decided to join them!

NBA Free Agency

Dwayne Wade joins the Chicago Bulls

A leap in the salary cap has caused teams to hand out record amounts of money for players this time of the year in the NBA Free Agency Frenzy.

Dwyane Wade chose to leave the Miami Heat to join the Chicago Bulls. Wade, 34, was upset the lack of consideration of the Heat’s management. With this deal worth $47.5 million for 2 years, it will be interesting how the Bulls will cope with Wade’s experience and leadership after losing stars Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah.

He has been with the team since 2003 and won 3 NBA Championships during his amazing run.

Joakim Noah joins the New York Knicks

The French-American became officially a player of the New York Knicks after serving 9 seasons with the Chicago Bulls.

Noah, 31, signed a four-year contract with the famous New York franchise, valued at $70 million. He was apparently on the list of players that they’ve been wanting to recruit for a long time.

He will be alongside his former teammate Derrick Rose and close friend Carmelo Anthony.

With Pau Gasol leaving the Bulls for the San Antonio Spurs  last week, many other top free agents are up for grabs.

Don’t forget to check our blog for the latest news on this NBA Free Agent Frenzy with the market still hot after this frantic week in the NBA.

Fantasy Basketball Value Picks Bulls vs Pacers

Dominate your competition with our NBA Fantasy Basketball Value Picks, create the winning lineup at Fanpicks.com. The Chicago Bulls (36-37) visits the host Indiana Pacers (39-34) at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
Fantasy Basketball
Chicago is really struggling lately and they find themselves on the outside looking in for the playoffs. They come into this game losing four-straight, with three of those losses coming against low ranked teams. One problem has been the road form, as they have an awful 12-23 record away from United Center. The Bulls now are three games out of the eight-seed in the east and that may be too difficult to overcome with less than 10 games left in the season.

The Pacers have won three of their last four and it comes at a important time during the season. Indiana is one of four teams contending for the final two playoff spots in the east, but they are the favorites to take it holding the seventh place. Their strength has been the defense, as they now rank seventh in points given after being an average defense for the first few months of the season.

This is a rivalry match-up and with how much the Bulls have been struggling recently, the Pacers should be a sizable favorite in this confrontation.

Daily Fantasy Basketball Lineup

While getting the most points does equate to winning, nailing down the optimal daily fantasy basketball lineup isn’t an exact science. Everyone has a different philosophy as to what the best strategy when creating a team is. Is it stack the top? Is it pile up as many high-priced stars as you can and then fill in the blanks with the cheapest options and hope for the best? Perhaps a well-balanced squad from top to bottom.

Well, that’s what I’m here for. I display different methods of attacking your DFS contest, and today was no different. Often I leave money on the table to display the true power of finding the best value picks, but sometimes I go for the gusto and max out. That’s what I did today. The recipe today was to start off with a bang, balance that out with a ton of value picks, and top it off with the best of what’s left.

How I began: I was really excited to have DeMarcus Cousins on my team tonight, and Giannis Antetokounmpo is also a must have at this point. That already occupied more than 30% of my cap space with a total of $21300 spent on the two big-men.

So obviously, I immediately went straight to the value picks. Bulls PF Bobby Portis led that list, as his 25.26 fantasy point average over his last three games is a great trade for his $4400 salary.

Let’s take a look at the rest of my daily fantasy basketball lineup.

nbalineup

Hollis Thompson at $4200 was my next snatch up. His last 10 games have been impressive, and 25 fantasy points tonight is not out of the question for the 76er.

I thought JaMychal Green could of been a solid pick tonight, but his price tag was a slight bit too high for my liking, and opted for the $1200 cheaper Myles Turner.

He has been averaging 23.43 fantasy points over his last 6 games, and that would be considerably higher without his 14.1 FP output against the Celtics.

After all my lower tier picks, I had just enough money to fit John Wall under the cap and insure another 40 points to my squad.

As usual, we’ll see how it plays out by the end of the night. Good luck to all.

Daily Fantasy Basketball Value Picks

With a 11 games on the NBA schedule, daily fantasy basketball value picks are in abundance. You have your options of superstars, but finding those discounts that out-perform their salary hit, and allow you to afford another superstar at the same time are the ones that make you a winner. Every night there are surprise performers that nobody saw coming, but we’ll do our best to pick them out for you.

Value Picks

D’Angelo Russell at $4800 is maybe the best discount you’ll find all season. Coming off his best game as a pro, the rookie put up 39 fantasy points last game and has a chance to repeat with his new found confidence.

Otto Porter of the Wizards has been on a tear lately scoring 16, 24, and 21.5 fantasy points on Fanpicks during his last three games. He is priced at $4800 as well, and a great value for those looking to fill roster spots.

With Taj Gibson out for the Bulls, Bobby Portis could have a big game. At $4100 the PF was been a steady fantasy presence since the beginning of February and is full capable of 20+ fps.

One of the veteran side of daily fantasy basketball value picks we have none other than Tim Duncan. The Spurs legend has a great matchup with the interior D of the Pistons, where old man Tim may be able to dominate and make it look like its 1999.

Los Angeles Lakers vs Chicago Bulls

Daily Fantasy Basketball News – 02-21-16

The Chicago Bulls (28-26) will be hosting the struggling Los Angeles Lakers (11-45) at the United Center. FanPicks has this game on tap for tonight’s DFS action. Come play daily Fantasy Basketball at Fanpicks.com

Projected Lineup

daily fantasy basketball

The Lakers are on a 4 game losing skid coming into this game but are playing much better basketball lately. The last games were all decided in the final seconds and against teams all currently in playoffs. The Lakers are playing very competitive basketball compare to early in the season, exactly what the fans are wanting in Kobe Bryant’s farewell season. Bryant unfortunately dislocated his finger against the San Antonio Spurs in the Lakers’ most recent loss. He will still be expected to dress for this game and hope to continue his good performance, averaging 25 pts, 6 boards and 3 assists over the last 7 games.

The Bulls are currently in a rough spot especially when it comes down to injuries. They’re currently playing now without three big starters: Joakim Noah, Nikola Mirotic and recently Jimmy Butler, all looking to be out for some significant time. The Bulls before their more recent wins against the Raptors were on a 5 game losing streak. Derrick Rose has been stepping his game up averaging 20.8 pts, 5.7 assists and 5.6 boards the last 9 games. The Bulls have been getting great help as well from Doug McDermott, who recently dropped a career high 30 pts against the Raptors.

Derrick Rose added 27 points while Pau Gasol had a double-double performance with 18pts and 11 rebounds. With an average of 48.8 boards per game, the Bulls are the number one rebounding unit in the league. The Bulls will return back in Chicago to face the Heat on Monday before embarking in a 9 game stretch in which 8 of them will be away from home. They currently have an 8-10 record away from home.

After the surprising and bizarre firing of their coach David Blatt yesterday, the Cavs will play their 1st game under the guided eye of new Head Coach Tyronn Lue despite being first in the Eastern Conference. Since their debacle against the Warriors on Monday, the Cavs bounced back with 2 straight wins and even halted the red-hot Los Angeles Clippers, 115-102. The team saw all starter in double digits performance with Lebron James posting 22 pts and 12 assists meanwhile Kevin Love had a solid game with 18 pts and 16 rebounds. The Cavaliers will hope to keep their form at home since they will have 9 of their next 12 contest at the Quicken Loans Arena.

Chicago Bulls vs Boston Celtics – 01/22/16 Preview

The Boston Celtics (22-21) will host Friday Night the Chicago Bulls (24-17) in this Eastern Conference showdown. The Celtics are the odds favorites to win (line: -3.5). Here is the projected lineup for tonight:

Projected Lineup

Starting Lineup

The Bulls, coming back from an embarrassing lost on Wednesday night to the history-making and defending NBA Champions Golden State 125-94 at home. Derrick Rose led the squad with 29 pts, shooting 12 for 22. Rose, currently the 3rd leading scorer for the team this year is averaging 15.4 points/game. Jimmy Butler added 23 points with 5 rebounds while the rookie Bobby Portis came off the bench and added 16 points with 8 rebounds. Chicago only made one 3pts shot out of 20 attempts and shot for 37% all night. With only 1.5 games ahead of the Pacers in the Central Division, Chicago is losing grip of their 2nd place grip slowly before even travelling to face conference leading Cleveland on Saturday before their 7 game road trip next week. Chicago are 8-9 this season on the road.

The Celtics return home on Friday night from a winless 2 road games after their defeat on Wednesday to division rivals, Toronto Raptors,115-109. Isaiah Thomas led the team with 21 points and 10 assists for his 5th double double of the season. Thomas, with an average of 21.7 pts and 6.7 assists is regarded as one of the most underrated NBA players this season. Avery Bradley added 19 pts whereas Kelly Olynyk recorded 18 pts off the bench. Boston could steer things up this upcoming week with a light schedule against the struggling Orland Magic, 76ers, Wizards and Nuggets.

NBA GSWvsCHI 1-20-16

Though Golden State has a .500 record over their past four, no one will remember anything prior to Monday’s MLK Day beat down of the Cavs. The defending champion Cavaliers were embarrassed at home by MVP favorite Steph Curry and the Warriors 132-98, with Curry contributing 35 points in only three quarters of play. The Warriors beat the Bulls by 12 points back in November, but this is the closing game of a three-game road trip. Steph Curry will need the continued help of his teammates to fight through the East Coast fatigue and beat the Bulls.

Chicago has dropped four of their last six, so they need this one as much as the next team. Losing Joakim Noah long-term definitely stings, but having a former superstar step in to replace him isn’t the worst situation the Bulls could be in. Pau Gasol will see a big jolt in his playing time, which could result in a steady DFS production, but others such as Nikola Mirotic and Bobby Portis will see some wood as well. In these teams’ first meeting, Jimmy Butler shot 11-of-16 vs Curry, Iguodala, Green and Barnes…but he was 0-for-4 when Klay Thompson was covering him. Watch for the game inside the game in this one.

Dallas Mavericks  vs. Chicago Bulls

Starting Lineup The Mavericks head into Chicago for the second game of three-game road trip, bringing their 11-11 road record with them. The Mavericks are coming off a 108-89 loss to the Thunder on Wednesday night. Dallas was extremely short-handed in the contest, as they rested four of their five starters due to the heavy minutes they logged the night before in an overtime win loss to the Cavaliers. J.J. Barea led the team in scoring on Wednesday with 18 points (7-15 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 1-3 FT), alongside six assists and three rebounds. All the regular starters should return to the lineup for Friday’s matchup after their night of rest. The Mavericks are 7-9 against Eastern Conference opponents this season. One of those victories came against the Bulls on Dec.26, when Barea led Dallas to 118-111 victory.

The Bulls return home Friday after snapping a three-game slide by the narrowest of margins on Thursday, with a 115-111 overtime victory over the woeful 76ers. One reason for Chicago’s recent skid can be attributed to the health of the team. Derrick Rose sat out of Thursday’s win due to tendinitis in his left knee. The former MVP has already made it clear that he will be available for Friday’s contest. In Rose’s absence, Jimmy Butler took charge of the game, scoring a career-high 53 points (15-30 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 21-25 FT), along with 10 rebounds, six assists, and three steals. The Bulls look to defend their 16-6 mark at home this season. Chicago is 9-4 against the Western Conference this season.

Chicago Bulls vs. Philadelphia 76ers

The Chicago Bulls (22-15) will be hosted by the Philadelphia 76ers (4-36) on Thursday evening. Starting Lineup The Bulls entered the new year riding the wave of a six-game winning streak and putting the pressure on Cleveland for top spot in the East. They have since dropped three in a row, the latest coming at Milwaukee on Tuesday night where they were felled, 106-101, by the Bucks. Jimmy Butler continued his impressive play this season with 30 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assist, including dropping 10 of 12 from the charity stripe. Butler is averaging 22.2 points for his team this season, far and away their biggest offensive threat. Pau Gasol has 10 point and 14 boards while Derrick Rose had a quiet night with only 9 points as Chicago fall to fourth place in the competitive Eastern Conference, with the Indian Pacers hot on their heels. Rose left the game at various points, including in the third quarter with a bout of patellar tendinitis.

The 76ers dropped another game to the visiting Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday, and although the outcome may never have been in question, they still managed to prevent the best team in the East from completely dominating them as the 95-85 loss was somewhat respectable given the fact that they were outclassed at every position. Rookie Jahlil Okafor was the leading scorer for Philadelphia with 21 points and 7 rebounds, shooting 9-for-15 from the paint. Ish Smith continued to impress since landing with the team in December, recording a double-double with 18 points and 10 assists. In just nine games played with the Sixers, Smith has emerged as the second-leading scorer with the club, averaging 16.2 points and 7.8 rebounds per match-up.

Chicago Bulls versus Milwaukee Bucks NBA Fantasy League Preview 1-12-2016

The Milwaukee Bucks are home to meet the Chicago Bulls. NBA real money fantasy GM’s can tune to NBA TV on Tuesday January 12th to follow the results of their one day league roster picks.

The Bulls are going to be on a back to back in this spot as the team was hosting the Washington Wizards on Monday night. Chicago has been playing good basketball of late as the team had won six of their past seven games as they entered play on Monday. The loss was an ugly one as the team committed 22 turnovers and played poor defense in a 120-105 road defeat at Atlanta on Saturday. The coaching change during the offseason has resulted in more scoring for the Bulls as they are 10th in points scored and fifth best from the three point line.

Milwaukee will be the rested team after losing to the New York Knicks on Sunday 100-88. The team has dropped three of four games and allowing an average of 113 points in those three games. The Bucks rank in the lower third of the league in all three key defensive categories.

Here are the NBA Daily League Fantasy Picks

Center Greg Monroe has been a very productive player for the Bucks this season. He is averaging 15.6 points and 9.6 rebounds per game. Monroe is coming off a very good game against a tired New York Knicks team as he scored 28 points and ten rebounds. New York was on a back to back in that spot.

Play Greg Monroe

Bulls shooting guard Jimmy Butler has been very productive this season. He is averaging 22 points with five rebounds on the season. Butler provides fantasy points in more than just scoring because he dishes assists and rebounds the basketball.

New Orleans Pelicans versus LA Lakers NBA Real Money Fantasy League Preview 1-12-2016

The LA Lakers are home to meet the New Orleans Pelicans. NBA fantasy league draft managers can tune to NBA TV on Tuesday January 12th at 10:30PM Eastern Time to follow the scoring results of their roster selections.

The Pelicans were a playoff team last year but has been a disappointment thus far at 11-25. The team is defending poorly this season. New Orleans is giving up 106 points per game ranking 28th in the league. Teams shoot 37.7% from three on New Orleans which is 27th in the NBA. New Orleans will operate offensively against a bad defensive team in the LA Lakers.

The LA Lakers will host the Pelicans with a record of 8-31 season to date. LA is 27th in scoring and field goal defense by giving up 105.9 points along with 46.3% shooting to their opponents. The offensive numbers have been brutal for the Lakers. They are 30th and last in the NBA in shooting (41.3%) and are 29th and second to last from the three point line (31.5%).

Here are the NBA Pro Basketball Fantasy League Picks

With Anthony Davis questionable with a back problem take Ryan Anderson for your one day league NBA fantasy rosters. He is a three point specialist who converts on 36.7% from three point distance. The Lakers are atrocious defensively guarding the three so he should get some great looks at the basket. He played 42 minutes on Sunday at the LA Clippers and contributed with 16 points and ten rebounds. Two games back against Indiana, Anderson had 21 points along with six boards.

Play Ryan Anderson

New Orleans Pelicans PF

The game figures to be wide open so expect shooting guard Tyreke Evans to thrive against a bad Lakers defense. He is coming off 26 points against the Clippers and 27 points against the Pacers.

Washington Wizard  vs. Chicago Bulls

The Washington Wizards (16-19) will be hosted  by the Chicago Bulls  (22-13) on Monday evening. Fanpicks.com is proud to announce its RotoPicker free to use tool, which allows you to create winning line ups and dominate your fantasy basketball competition.  Play the most exciting contest, including the newest $25K Grand Action and Point Spread contests only at Fanpicks.com the premiere daily fantasy basketball

Starting Lineup Washington comes into this matchup losing five of their last seven games and the offense is really struggling. They are regularly scoring under 100 points a game and that’s terrible considering they are one of the fastest-paced teams in the NBA. It’s hard to put a finger on the struggles, but it could be a simple reality that the rest of the Eastern Conference is better this season. They fed off under .500 teams last year and they cant do that in a much improved Eastern Conference. The good news is that Bradley Beal is due back very soon and could even make his return here against the Bulls. He’s a much needed scoring punch and defensive presence that this team desperately needs right now.

The Bulls are playing some of their best basketball of the season right now, as they have won six of their last seven coming into this game. The offense has been spectacular in that stretch, as they are averaging about 106 points per game in that span. What makes this team so scary is their depth, as players like Taj Gibson, Tony Snell and Bobby Portis will be coming off the bench when everyone is healthy. Speaking of health, Joakim Noah may return this game as well, as he’s nearly full recovered from his shoulder injury he suffered last month. This team already has one of the deepest frontcourts in the NBA and it would be scary imaging them getting back an All-Star center.

Washington Wizards versus Chicago Bulls NBA Daily Fantasy League Preview 1-11-2016

The Chicago Bulls are going to host the Washington Wizards from the NBA. Pro basketball fantasy GM’s can tune to NBA League Pass Channel at 8PM Eastern Time on Monday January 11th to follow the results of their one day league roster picks.

It has not been a good start to the season for the Washington Wizards. The team is 16-19 overall and just broke a three game losing streak as they beat Orlando on the road on Saturday. Their struggles have come on the defensive end of the court. Washington is 29th and second to last in the NBA in field goal and three point defense. They are allowing 46.6% shooting and 38.3% from the three point line on the year.

The Chicago Bulls have moved to an up-tempo team from previous seasons. The Bulls used to sit near the bottom of the league in most offensive numbers the past seasons. Not this season as Chicago is 10th in scoring at 102.2 points per game and sit 5th from the three point line by connecting on 36.5% from beyond the arc. Still with a faster pace the Bulls are still defending well by allowing 41.9% shooting from the floor good for best in the league.

Here are the NBA Fantasy Picks

Point guard Jimmy Butler has taken over as the leader of the Chicago Bulls. He is posting 22.1 points per game with five boards and four assists per contest. He is coming off a 27 point performance with eight boards in 39 minutes on Saturday at Atlanta. He has played 39 minutes in each of his past four games.

Miami Heat versus Golden St Warriors NBA Real Money Fantasy League Preview 1-11-2016

The Golden St Warriors will welcome into town the Miami Heat. Fantasy NBA draft managers can catch the action on NBA League Pass Channel at 10:30PM Eastern Time on Monday January 11th to check the scoring results of their real money roster selections.

Miami still has a strong defensive presence on the court ranking second in the league in points against by allowing 94.8 per contest. They will have their hands full trying to keep Golden St on their home court below their season averages offensively. You are looking at Goran Dragic and Dwyane Wade trying to defend the guard tandem of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. The Heat does have advantages in the low post behind Chris Bosh and Hassan Whiteside but a jump shooting team like Golden St when they miss will create long rebounding opportunities. Whiteside and Bosh better be careful about putting the ball on the floor in traffic because the Warriors defenders will create steals.

The Warriors are 35-2 overall and 17-0 on their home court. They are tops in the league in scoring and three point shooting as well as second shooting from the floor at 48.8%. On defense Golden St sits second in the league in field goal (42.5%) and three point shooting defense (31.9%)

Here are the NBA Pro Basketball Real Money Fantasy League Picks

Stephen Curry will be a handful for the Miami Heat guards. The good point guards reside in the west and you find very few approaching his quality in the Eastern conference. Curry is averaging nearly 30 points per game and is shooting 51% from the floor with 44.8% from the three point line.

Play Stephen Curry

Golden St Warriors PG

With Curry spreading the court and creating space it will open up three point shooting opportunities for Klay Thompson. He is second on the team in scoring and shoots 43.5% from beyond the arc.
