Rangers vs Rockies

Rangers scheduled starter Cole Hamels fell to 3-1 with a 1.59 ERA in four starts since the All-Star break following Wednesday’s loss at Baltimore in which he permitted three runs on four hits and four walks over seven innings. The rough road outing was a rare one for the 2008 World Series MVP, who still holds a sparkling 8-2 record and 1.90 ERA in 12 turns away from Rangers Ballpark. Hamels split his two starts versus the Rockies last season as a member of the Philadelphia Phillies and is 4-4 lifetime with a 3.21 ERA against them.

Orioles vs Athletics

O’s third baseman Manny Machado became the second player in history to homer in each of the first three innings when Baltimore dominated the rubber match with a 10-2 win at the Chicago White Sox on Sunday. Machado drove in a career-high seven runs in the win and finished up the weekend 7-for-15 with nine RBIs and five runs scored to lead the Orioles offense.

Tigers vs Mariners

Seattle’s second baseman Robinson Cano sat out the Sunday’s contest to rest and gear up for stellar Detroit rookie Michael Fulmer, who opposes Hisashi Iwakuma in the series opener.

Phillies vs Dodgers

The Philadelphia Phillies face an old friend for the first time when they begin a three-game road series against Chase Utley and the Los Angeles Dodgers. The 37-year-old Utley was the heart and soul of the Phillies for more than 12 seasons after making his major league debut in 2003, helping the franchise capture its second World Series title — and first in 28 years — in 2008 before being traded to Los Angeles on Aug. 19, 2015. The six-time All-Star and second baseman on Sports Illustrated’s All-Decade Team for the 2000s has batted .250 with seven home runs and 32 RBIs in 93 games this season for the Dodgers.

Fantasy Baseball Best Picks of the Day – October 1st 2015

MLB regular season is almost over and Daily Fantasy Baseball playoffs is starting to take shape. The Blue Jays are going back to the post-season after clinching the division for the first time since 1993, the year they won their second World Series. The way things are going for the Jays this year has been no shortage of incredible. The National League playoff picture is set. The Cardinals win over the Pirates last night gave them the division crown. So now the Cards, Dodgers and Mets all clinched their division while the Bucs will face Jake Arrieta and the Cubs for the Wild Card game.

A day after his A’s “big three” teammate (Barry Zito) made his possible final start, Tim Hudson is ready to make is last career start in the MLB. The active leader in wins will brush it out against Dodgers starter Brett Anderson in San Francisco. His incredible career holds being the 2000 season leader in wins and being a 2014 World Series champion. Can any rookie pitcher follow up in his footstep? Let’s find out in today’s Fantasy Baseball hot picks.

P Tyler Duffey – Minnesota Twins

Season: 5 W, 1 L, 3.14 ERA, 47 Ks, 19 BBs

The Twins are still chasing the final playoff spot for a four way race with the Angels, Astros, and Yankees. They turn to their sensational rookie to help them go there against Cleveland. Duffey is 5-0 with a 2.17 ERA in his last 8 starts. Back in August, he limited the Indians to 1 hit and no earned run during 6 innings of work. It’s his best performance of the season. A repeat could be in the books.

C Yasmani Grandal – Los Angeles Dodgers

Season:  .239 AVG, 16 HRs, 47 RBIs, 43 Runs

Grandal saw his numbers drop in the last few month. He started the year at an incredible pace, hitting 12 homers in the first three month. He has had 4 since. The Cuban needs to hit like he did before if he hopes to keep his starting job in Los Angeles.

1B Joe Mauer – Minnesota Twins

Season: .266 AVG, 10 HRs, 66 RBIs, 68 Runs, 2 SBs

Mauer knocked a home run in the first game of yesterday’s doubleheader against the Tribe. He’s hitting .357 with a homer and 3 RBIs against Indians starter Trevor Bauer. As the team star, he’ll need to make a difference when playoffs implications counts the most.

2B Chase Utley – Los Angeles Dodgers

Season: .213 AVG, 8 HRs, 38 RBIs, 37 Runs, 1 SB

Utley has faced Tim Hudson the most during his career. It’s like they have a special bond together. Utley will want to get the most out of their final matchup.

3B Trevor Plouffe – Minnesota Twins

Season: .245 AVG, 22 HRs, 85 RBIs, 74 Runs, 2 SBs

Plouffe had a hit in every game in the current series against the Indians. He belted one over the fence  for 2 runs in the series opener. Now it’s time for the finale.

SS Erick Aybar – Los Angeles Angels

Season: .269 AVG, 2 HRs, 42 RBIs, 71 Runs, 14 SBs

Aybar is on a six game hitting streak. He has been doing his part as the leadoff hitter, getting on base. He is also hitting .327 against Texas Rangers starter Derek Holland. With heavy hitters like Mike Trout and Albert Pujols behind him, it is safe to bet he will score a lot.

OF Mike Trout – Los Angeles Angels

Season: .299 AVG, 41 HRs, 89 RBIs, 101 Runs, 11 SBs

Trout was 3-for-3 yesterday, while smashing his 41st homer of the season. Despite this, the Angels lost against the Athletics. A win today for the halos would increase their chances of making it to October. They will need a repeat from their star outfielder who is batting .345 with 2 home runs and 9 RBIs.

OF Torii Hunter – Minnesota Twins

Season: .243 AVG, 22 HRs, 80 RBIs, 67 Runs, 2 SBs

Hunter has an average of .429 with 2 home runs and 3 RBIs against Cleveland’s starter Trevor Bauer. He will build off the success he had yesterday during the first game of a doubleheader, where he hit a base clearing double for 3 RBIs.

OF Jay Bruce – Cincinnati Reds

Season: .225 AVG, 26 HRs, 86 RBIs, 71 Runs, 9 SBs

Bruce had 7 homers in the month of September. It’s the most he had in a single month all year.
