Friday Fantasy Basketball Matchups
FanPicks.com has your NBA daily rundown to get you ready for live fantasy basketball matchups.
Kings vs Pacers
The Sacramento Kings are displaying signs of life during an eight-game road trip. They aim for a third consecutive victory in Indiana. Sacramento improved to 2-2 on the excursion with a stunning 116-112 overtime win over the defending champion Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday.
Nets vs Cavaliers
The Cleveland Cavaliers continue to slump and dropped six of their last eight games. Cleveland lost its last three games and the latest setback was a dreadful 116-112 home overtime loss to the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday.
Magic vs Celtics
The Boston Celtics avoided a four-game losing streak with one of their biggest wins of the season and will play nine of their next 12 games against teams that entered Thursday with a losing record. They snapped their three-game slide with a 120-109 home win over the Houston Rockets on Wednesday.
Bucks vs Raptors
The Cleveland Cavaliers’ meltdown over the last two weeks seemed like the perfect opportunity for the Toronto Raptors to jump up and claim the top spot into the Eastern Conference, but instead they’ve gone into a funk as well. The Raptors will try to snap a season-long five-game slide against Milwaukee Bucks.
Hornets vs Knicks
The New York Knicks are apparently intent on getting star forward Carmelo Anthony out of town, though he seems to be the least of their problems at the moment. They’ve won 4 of their last 18 games.
Heat vs Bulls
Dwyane Wade’s old team is visiting just as his new team seems to be coming apart.
Spurs vs Pelicans
The San Antonio Spurs hope to have star small forward Kawhi Leonard back Friday night. Leonard missed the past two games with a left hand injury after a tremendous roll in which he scored 30 or more points in six consecutive contests.
Wizards vs Hawks
The Washington Wizards are quietly making a steady climb up the standings in the Eastern Conference and are winners of nine of their last 11 games.
Rockets vs 76ers
The Philadelphia 76ers are expecting star center Joel Embiid(knee) to return to the lineup. The center missed three games in a row but the surging 76ers are proving they can survive without his emerging talents, knocking off the Los Angeles Clippers and Milwaukee Bucks in a back-to-back earlier this week.
Grizzlies vs Trail Blazers
Memphis center Marc Gasol is on a tear and he aims to top 20 points for the sixth consecutive game. He established career bests of 42 points and five 3-pointers in Wednesday’s 101-99 over the Toronto Raptors.

Suns vs Cavaliers
The Cleveland Cavaliers didn’t look so powerful during a six-game road swing and attempt to turn things around against the Phoenix Suns. Cleveland lost three of the final four games on its excursion and was drubbed 126-91 by the Golden State Warriors in Monday’s finale.
The Cavaliers also lost to the Portland Trail Blazers and Utah Jazz on the trip and figure to find wins easier to come by at home, where their 18-3 mark is the second-best in the NBA. Cleveland power forward Kevin Love (back) will be a game-day decision after being injured during the loss to the Warriors and he was limited in Wednesday’s workout. Phoenix also has dropped three of its last four games, including a 106-101 loss to the Jazz on Monday despite standout point guard Eric Bledsoe excelling with 31 points, nine rebounds and nine assists.
Mavericks vs Heat
The Dallas Mavericks spent most of the first half of the schedule languishing at the bottom of the Western Conference but are finally beginning to make a move up. The Mavericks will try to push their season-best winning streak to four in a row against the Miami Heat.
Wizards vs Knicks
Carmelo Anthony is tired of all the drama team president Phil Jackson is creating for the New York Knicks but reiterated he wants to remain with the club. His team responded with a superb win in Boston and looks to post another victory on Thursday versus the Washington Wizards.
Nuggets vs Spurs
The Denver Nuggets are suddenly the hottest offense in the NBA and scored at least 125 points in each of their last three games with all of them being wins. The competition is about to get a little stiffer. The Nuggets might be catching the Spurs at the right time though, with San Antonio dropping two of its last four games and needing to come from behind to earn a 122-114 home triumph over the Minnesota Timberwolves on January 12.
Timberwolves vs Clippers
The Los Angeles Clippers have gotten used to playing without one or two of their All-Stars, and a couple of months without Chris Paul is just the latest obstacle for the team to overcome. The Clippers will try to earn an eighth consecutive win without Paul around.
Brooklyn Nets vs New York Knicks
The Brooklyn Nets take on cross-town rival New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday evening (Enter Contest). The Nets will be facing the second night of a back-to-back, which began with a 119-110 home-victory against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday.
ABOUT THE NETS (3-4)
Brook Lopez led the way for the Nets with 26 points. Trevor Booker continued his solid play with 15 points, nine rebounds and three steals, while Sean Kilpatrick added 14 points, five rebounds and three assists, in 28 minutes off the bench. The Nets were missing Jeremy Lin, who remains out with a strained hamstring but had six players score in double figures in a full team effort. The Nets have been a bit of a surprise to start the season but have earned every inch of their success so far with hard work and pose a threat to any opponent.
ABOUT THE KNICKS (2-4)
The Knicks (2-4) will look to earn their second home-win of the season against an opponent that they need to beat if they want to be taken seriously in the East. They have shown flashes this season, with a nice win against the Bulls last Friday but that was followed up with a home-loss against the Jazz on Sunday. The Knicks do have a lot of new faces and deserve more time before they are judged too harshly. Carmelo Anthony and Kristaps Porzingis both tallied 28 points, while Derrick Rose chipped in 18, in the loss versus the Jazz but even with those solid performances they were still out-done. The Knicks will need to tighten the screws on defense as they look to bounce back from losing three of their last four games.
New York Knicks vs Chicago Bulls Preview
The city of Chicago is electric after the Cubs won the World Series on Wednesday, but the baseball fever won’t keep basketball fans from anticipating the return of Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah. The two former Chicago stars will take the United Center floor for the first time in visitor’s uniforms when the Bulls host the New York Knicks on Friday (Enter Contest).
Rose and Noah helped lead Chicago to its best post-Jordan records but never managed to take the team to the NBA Finals before injuries and ineffectiveness marred the end of each of their respective tenures with the team. While the Bulls don’t seem to be missing the two former stars much on the court, the Knicks aren’t exactly surging to new heights with the two in the lineup. New York dropped three of its first four games, with all three losses coming by double figures, and is struggling on both ends. The Knicks allowed at least 32 points in each of the first three quarters at home on Wednesday before the Houston Rockets took their foot off the gas and breezed to a 118-99 win.
ABOUT THE KNICKS (1-3)
New coach Jeff Hornacek is trying to institute team president Phil Jackson’s triangle offense into the attack, but it doesn’t look like the system of play was well received. Point guard Courtney Lee was vocal about this system not working among the team. The Knicks have scored over a 100 points in a single game since the beginning of the season; a 111-104 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies.
Rose is averaging 16.3 points but recorded almost as many turnovers (eight) as assists (nine) in the first four games while Noah was held scoreless in two of the first four contests. Kristaps Porzingis averaged 18.3 points in the first three games but slumped to three points on 0-of-4 shooting Wednesday. New York took three of the four meetings last season behind 24.3 points on 50.6 percent shooting from Carmelo Anthony in the four contests.
ABOUT THE BULLS (3-1)
The team picked a good time to suffer its first loss on Wednesday, with much of the print and internet real estate in the Chicago area dominated by the Cubs winning their first World Series since 1908. Anyone in the area that did tune into the Bulls broadcast saw Rajon Rondo, Rose’s replacement at point guard, collect 12 points, 10 rebounds and five assists in the 107-100 setback at Boston. Rondo is having no trouble fitting between wings Dwyane Wade and Jimmy Butler while center Robin Lopez, who came over in the Rose trade from New York, is proving to be a solid fit in coach Fred Hoiberg’s system. Doug McDermott is in the league’s concussion protocol and is questionable for Friday.
NBA Fantasy News
Paul George puts 2014 behind him.
Indiana’s forward Paul George found his U.S. National teammates in preparation to the 2016 Rio Olympics without any apprehension, he assured Tuesday. He is two year’s removed from a serious injury that took him out prior to the 2014 FIBA World Cup. He fell awkwardly on his foot while fouling James Harding during a scrimmage at practice in Las Vegas. The team ended up winning the tournament without him. Despite all of that, he’s ready to put it all behind him and give it is all for the Gold. George will finally get the chance to play for his nation, something he is most proud of.
Team USA is currently preparing for Rio in Las Vegas. For George, coming back to train where he got hurt isn’t a problem. He knows that injuries can happen anywhere, anytime to anyone. The injury caused him to miss almost all of the 2014-15 NBA season. He since found his stride scoring a career-best 23.1 points per regular season game. Under his drive, the Pacers made it to the 2016 playoffs. The got bumped early though losing in the first round against the Toronto Raptors.
Head Coach Mike Krzyzewski will lead his third Olympic squad. Under his tutelage, team USA has yet to lose a game since the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Since that time the teams hold a record of 34-0, which includes two Olympics games and two FIBA world cup.
Team USA will be represented once again by an elite squad of NBA players despite some bowing out due to the unsafe nature of Brazil. They are still favorite to land the coveted gold medal. The Golden State Warriors will have three representative at the games, with shooting guard Klay Thompson, power forward Draymond Green and newly acquired small forward Kevin Durant. The team will also rely on guards Kyrie Irving, Jimmy Butler, DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry, forwards Paul George, Harrison Barnes, and Carmelo Anthony, and centers DeMarcus Cousins and DeAndre Jordan.

DFS NBA: Late Night Lineup
With a few different tip-off times tonight, there were a few options for DFS NBA contests. You had your 7 pm early starts, your 7:30 pm expresses, 8 pm, 9 pm and late-night 10:30 pm pools.
There were some quality early starts, but the Warriors, Rockets, and Spurs headlined the night for me from a fantasy perspective so I went with a late-night contest.
The Knicks are in town to face Golden State, which obviously won’t go well for New York. Steph Curry should dominate early and stack up the stat line before getting pulled late as per usual.
Curry will lead my roster tonight, as when picking from only three games you cannot miss on that many points when it’s sitting right there.
Thankfully, we don’t care about the points in the standings so the Knicks can be an attractive team as well.
Carmelo Anthony has been a monster and even though Kristaps Porzingis has cooled off a bit, he’s still an above-average multi-category fantasy pick.
Sasha Vujacic will be getting the start tonight, so at $3600 I had to take the chance.
When you have Curry, James Harden, Carmelo and to an extent Dwight Howard you’re gonna need more than one discount player, and if he sinks you it wasn’t worth it. So the key to a successful night is of course nailing your big ticket items, but finding nice value among the cheaper options.
Toney Douglas ($4500) Douglas scored 42 fantasy points against the Warriors during his last game. That’s no joke. But the fact that he had 19.2, 31.4 and 22.7 fantasy points in his previous three games respectively is what gives me the confidence to play the Pelican tonight.
Porzingis was sick earlier this week, so Derrick Williams could eat into those minutes again for New York. He’s scored 20+ fantasy points in four straight contests and could have plenty of opportunity late if it becomes a blowout.
DFS NBA Results
Since we offer you an array of fantasy options through our daily lineups or value pick articles, we decided to start showing you how those picks were doing with our DFS NBA results. If you didn’t follow and read us regularly before, maybe this will give you a little incentive.
In yesterday’s pre-game article I mentioned how I was banking on Bucks teammates Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton to produce at least 35 fantasy points. Well, they did that…and more. Much more in the case of the Greek Freak, who doubled that scoring 71.2 fantasy points in their game against Brooklyn. Middleton put up 43.5 fantasy points on his own as well.
I’ll take that, thank you.
Of course as anyone who has played daily fantasy sports before knows, none of that matters if you have even just one player who completely whiffs on his performance. Luckily, the worst production on my squad was from a big money earner whose “terrible” game would’ve buried me had he originally been a lower-priced, less talented player.
So at least when Monta Ellis lets you down, it’s to the tune of 19.6 fantasy points.
Jeff Teague also left me wanting more. 21.9 fantasy points isn’t what you expect from your near $7000 PG. The Hawks rolled all over the Pacers so the opportunities were there, but Teague couldn’t break through for fantasy owners.
Aside from the Bucks bros, Carmelo Anthony anchored this team. 47.4 fps is a nice number, especially when it’s the second highest on your team. Usually a good sign.
Brandon Bass ($4000); my biggest value pick going in, came through in the clutch with 20.5 fantasy points. Thankfully, he out performed his usual self and somewhat made up for the slow day Ellis had.
Myles Turner ($4900) was a value pick as well, and he definitely earned his “salary”. Turner came up with 30 fantasy points when the hopeful expectation was closer to 25. His day probably kept me in the money as just one more foul ball could’ve been the end of me.
All in all, everybody pulled their weight at the very least and some more than made up for where others lacked. And that’s a winning daily fantasy recipe.
New York Knicks vs Los Angeles Lakers
Basketball Fantasy preview
The New York Knicks will travel to the city of angels where they will face the Los Angeles Lakers tonight at the Staples Center. FanPicks is proud to bring you this basketball fantasy preview of this game. Come play in our one of a kind and exciting March Madness Regional Millions contest as well as 3 other contests for the NCAA College Basketball Tournament, the only ones in the industry at Fanpicks.com and with over 5 million dollars in giveaways and prizes the next 3 weeks.
L.A is somewhat in a good momentum having only lost once in their last 3 games. They will come into this game with more energy and confidence considering their extremely tough season and second last record in the league. Their big man Jordan Clarkson will be back in the lineup which will help his promising rookie teammate D’Angelo Russell, who’s been a standout this year and sheds bright lights on the Lakers’ future. Kobe will be playing his last game against the Knicks, a team he knows real well and had some career highlight reel notably scoring 61 points against them in 2009. He will try to avoid Camelo Anthony’s Knicks to sweep their season series after his great performance against the Cavaliers despite their loss on Thursday.
New York is currently going through rough times like their Western opponents tonight. They;ve only won 7 games out of their last 25. Unfortunately for them, the situation keeps on worsening as the losses are becoming uglier. Their offense is nonexistent and ranks 25th in the league after ranking in the middle all season until lately. With the recruitment of Tony Wroten earlier this week, they will get an offensive boost off the bench but in questionable health.
This should be a tight game with both teams struggling and playing inconsistent basketball down the stretch. game between two struggling teams, as the Knicks are a projected two-point favorite.
Daily Fantasy Basketball Projections Picks
We enter the last full month of fantasy basketball, and we’re ready to give you tonight’s FanPicks rotopicker NBA lineup. There’s a total of six game tonight, including Chicago versus Miami and Atlanta against Dallas. We’ve put up a list of the daily fantasy basketball projections picks for all the games.
- G – Dwayne Wade – $5,600
With Chris Bosh (calf) being advised to sit out the remainder of 2015-16, Wade will likely be forced to step up and carry his Heat to the playoffs.
- G – Victor Oladipo – $5,600
Oladipo earned 5.2 trips to the charity stripe per game during the month of February while posting 19.2 points, 5.2 rebounds, 4.1 assists, 2.2 steals, and 0.5 blocks across 38 minutes per matchup. The majority of those figures are the best he has mustered up in terms of monthly averages in 2015-16, and Oladipo is likely to continue seeing heavy minutes for the remainder of the season.
- G – Ronnie Price – $3,500
With Brandon Knight (groin) still without a timetable for return, Price figures to continue serving as a highly cost-effective option in daily leagues for the time being.
- F – Aaron Gordon – $4,800
Opposing defenses will be in serious trouble if Aaron Gordon’s three-point shot proves to be a weapon over time, and he’s set to receive all the minutes he can handle over the remaining months of the season.
- F – Draymond Green – $6,700
Green produced a double-double Saturday with 14 rebounds and 14 assists in a 121-118 win over the Thunder. Draymond is one of a kind and we won’t see another one like him for a long, long time.
- F – Chandler Parsons – $5,000
Parsons is managing 20.2 points (57.1 FG, 50.0 3Pt, 93.8 FT), 4.4 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 2.8 threes, 1.2 steals, and 0.8 blocks in 31 minutes per appearance over the last five contests.
- C – Pau Gasol – $6,900
With both Derrick Rose (hamstring) and Jimmy Butler (knee) out, Gasol is taking upon himself to distribute the ball and is hugely successful. Even at 35 years old, Gasol continues to contribute consistently across the board.
- UT – Luol Deng – $5,100
With Bosh potentially missing the rest of the season due to blood clotting in his calf, Deng’s fantasy value is on the definite upswing, and it could go even higher once he’s fully recovered from the dislocated finger that’s restricted his efficiency on offense over the last three games.
- UT – Carmelo Anthony – $6,600
He averaged 22.2 points on 19.7 shots in February, hitting only 39 percent of his attempts from the field. However, he did pull down 9.8 rebounds per game to go along with 4.9 assists to 2.7 turnovers, one three-pointer, 0.8 steals, and 0.2 blocks in 38 minutes per appearance. It’s a bit odd to see Anthony playing such heavy minutes despite the team’s 25-36 record, but fantasy owners in leagues that value counting stats have to be pleased.
Daily Fantasy Basketball Projections
Fantasy Basketball Miami Heat vs New York Knicks preview
NBA Basketball Fantasy Basketball Preview
Things will heat up tonight in the Big Apple as the New York Knicks will be hosting the Miami Heat Sunday evening. Come play our NBA Fantasy Basketball contest and YOU could win BIG at FanPicks.
New York is on a terrible slump lately, having struggled both offensively and defensively. For some reason, they’ve won only 3 games out of the last 14. Even though they’ve won back to back games, the opponents were very weak. The Knicks will have a handful this game against Miami’s defense unit and their new offensive addition.
Miami has been playing very well lately despite dropping their last 2 games against the Celtics and the Warriors. Unfortunately for them, their leading scorer, Chris Bosh is under serious pressure from team doctors to sit down for the rest of the season. Dwayne Wade and the offensve has been getting unexpected great help from Hassan Whiteside and Goran Dragic. Whiteside played 4 straight games with an average of 19.5 pts and 17.3 rebounds while Dragic stepped up as well averaging 19.8 pts, 7 assists and 5.4 boards the last games. The real addition to their squad and danger for the Eastern Conference is the arrival of 7 time all star Joe Johnson. It will in interesting and essential addition for them
NBA Daily Fantasy Picks 2/22
The below chart is misleading to the NBA Daily Fantasy novice. On first look you probably look at Lebron James and Stephen Curry, decide that Lebron is projected higher than Stephen Curry but is cheaper so you should pick Lebron James. That is true that Lebron is a better option for today than Steph, but is he the best option? When it comes to daily fantasy picks, your picks are all about value (points per dollar) rather than sheer points. Winning a daily fantasy contest comes down to scoring the most total lineup points, and that is done with turning your $50,000 salary cap into all around value, not just a couple big scorers.
This may be a bad example because Lebron does have a good value coefficient of 5.5, meaning he is projected to score 5.5 fantasy points for each $1000 or his total $8700 of salary. That is not bad but as you can see, there are players on this list with higher value coefficients.
The one that sticks out especially is Jamal Crawford. He has taken on a larger role for the Clippers in Griffin’s absence and has been very consistent over the past 5 games at that 30 fantasy point mark. However, with a salary of only $5000, if he continues to put up 30 fantasy points per game, he will provide more value than any other player is projected. He should get plenty of play time in what should be a high scoring blowout in the Clippers favor against the Suns.
Another player who has been providing huge value is Khris Middleton. He has a more moderate salary level at $6500, but looks like he will be putting up numbers with the heavy hitters today. Milwaukee is favored by 8 points against the Lakers is what should be slightly higher scoring game.
If you need another cheap option to fill some gaps in your lineup Jabari Parker should be a good overlooked value pick. His numbers have been fantastic lately for his cheap salary level. Pairing him with Middleton may pay off if Middleton sets up Parker for some baskets as you will double dip with Parker’s points and Middleton’s assists.
New York Knicks vs Detroit Pistons Fantasy Basketball News – 02-04-16
The stumbling New York Knicks (23-28) head to The Palace of Auburn Hills on Thursday for a date with the Detroit Pistons (26-23). FanPicks has this game on tap for tonight’s DFS action. Come play Fantasy Basketball at fanpicks.com.
The Knicks have lost six of their last seven games and are falling further more into a deep and endless hole of agonizing year. They’ve suffered a 97-89 defeat at the hands of the Boston Celtic, on Tuesday. Arron Afflalo was New York’s most productive player in that game, scoring 18 points and going 7 of 15 from the field. Carmelo Anthony had a double-double with 16 points & 14 rebounds, while Robin Lopez also scored the double-double with 17 points & 13 boards. Coming off the bench, Sasha Vujacic collected 13 points. New York was terrible from the field, going 37.8% from the paint and 30% from long range. After missing the last four games because of a sore right groin, point guard Jose Calderon should make is return to the lineup tonight. The Knicks could really use his skills to get out of their rut.
The Pistons were also victim of the Celtics, on Wednesday night. They lost 102-95, dropping three of their last four contests. Reggie Jackson scored a team-leading 17 points, while adding 7 assists and draining three triples in the loss. Ersan Ilyasova and Andre Drummond each recorded 16 points apiece. Ilyasova logged in another monster night on the boards, adding 13 rebounds for the double-double. With 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists, Marcus Morris also saw is fantasy stock rise yesterday. The Pistons fell in eight place in the Eastern Conference, with the Hornets tailing one and half a game behind for a playoff spot. Stan van Gundy’s team will be able to regain seventh place in the rankings, when they face the half game up Pacers on Saturday. Detroit will need to improve from beyond the arc, as they made 11 of 34 shots for a 32.4% average on Wednesday night. It’s consistent with their 33.5% season average, which ranks as seventh-worst in the league.
Boston Celtics vs New York Knicks Fantasy Basketball News – 02-02-16
The Boston Celtics (27-22) will play the host New York Knicks (23-27) at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday. FanPicks has this game on tap for tonight’s DFS action. Come play Fantasy Basketball at fanpicks.com.
The Celtics enters this matchup winning five of their last six games. They last played against the Orlando Magic, who were on an eight-game losing streak, and lost the game 119 to 114. Boston’s offense has been incredible as of late. They are averaging over 113 points per game, in their last ten matchups. Their success comes from a good distribution of the ball. They rank fifth in the National Basketball Association for assists. This team is one of the few right now that have no superstar among them, but are still able to play good team-basketball.
The Knicks have lost five of their last six games, with their lone win coming against the Phoenix Suns. It’s not going well for them, as they are steadily falling out of out of playoff contention. Their superstar, Carmelo Anthony, is currently out of the lineup; a likely reason why the Knicks are failing miserably to score points. New York is currently 21st in the NBA scoring. It will not get easier for them tonight against the Celtics, who boast one of the best defense in the league. On the bright side, Carmelo is expected to return tonight and they will be playing in their home stadium, Madison Square Gardens.
