August 14 Fantasy Baseball Preview

Cardinals vs Cubs

The Cubs took the first two games before the Cardinals won 8-4 on Saturday to snap Chicago’s 11-game winning streak on a come from behind victory Saturday. The Cubs still have a huge 13-game lead over the St. Louis Cardinals in the National League Central.

Mike Leake will have the start for the Cards (8-9, 4.79 ERA, 96 K). After allowing 19 earned runs over his last 3 starts, Leake has the ability to complete a quality start, with his last time out seemed like he was stepping in the right direction. He did however walk a season (4 walks) and recorded no strikeouts for the first time this year, but is outing against the Angels was solid over 8 innings. Right handed hitters are batting .195 against him this season and he’s 1-1 with a 2.70 ERA in 3 starts against the Cards this season.

Right-hander John Lackey (9-7, 3.56 ERA) will take the mound for the Cubs and try for his fifth straight quality start. He allowed three hits and one run in eight innings in a 5-1 victory over the Los Angeles Angels in his last start Tuesday. Lackey is 1-1 with a 2.70 ERA this season in three starts against the Cardinals, his only starts against his former team. He went 16-13 with a 3.10 ERA in 43 starts with St. Louis in 2014-15.

The Cardinals will be looking for a leadoff hitter now that Matt Carpenter is batting third in the absence of Matt Holliday, who sustained a broken thumb when he was hit by a Mike Montgomery pitch Thursday. Greg Garcia went 0-for-5 batting leadoff Saturday, when Holliday went on the disabled list. Carpenter was 2-for-5 with three strikeouts.

Though well behind the Cubs in the division, the Cardinals (61-56) remain in the mix for a wild card spot. The Cubs are 6-6 against St. Louis this season.

College Football Fantasy Draft News 12-5-2015

Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Florida Gators

College Football Fantasy Preview 12-5-2015

The SEC Championship game will feature the Alabama Crimson Tide facing the Florida Gators. College football one day fantasy league GMs can tune to CBS TV on Saturday December 5th at 4PM Eastern Time from the Georgia Dome to track the results of their DFS roster picks.

Alabama enters play with the ability to earn a playoff spot with a victory in this game. The team has been solid defensively by allowing just 264 yards per game ranking second in the nation and are third in points allowed at 14.3 points given up per game. Their lone loss came way back in week three in a 43-37 home defeat to Ole Miss. Since that defeat the most points they have allowed were 23 points. They have given up 16 or fewer points in eight of their past nine games.

The Florida Gators are 10-2 after they suffered a home defeat to Florida St last week by the score of 27-2. They suffered a suspension to their starting quarterback Will Grier and their offense has not been as effective. They have fallen to 104th in the nation in total offense by generating 353 yards per game. Defense is a major strength for the Gators as they are limiting opponents to just 283 yards and 15.5 points per game which ranks fifth best in the nation in both categories.

College Football Daily Fantasy League Pick

This is a game between two outstanding defensive teams. Derrick Henry will be a major issue for the Gators and they will look to stop him. Expect Florida to try and allow quarterback Jake Coker to beat them. The Crimson Tide will target receivers in single coverage so with the emphasis on the running back Henry by the Florida defense, it will be Coker making the big plays with his arm.

Air Force Falcons vs. San Diego St Aztecs

College Football Real Money Fantasy Preview 12-5-2015

The Mountain West Championship game has the San Diego St Aztecs playing on their home field to meet the Air Force Falcons. DFS draft GMs can tune to ESPN2 TV at 7:30PM Eastern Time from San Diego to track the results of their fantasy college football roster picks.

San Diego St has been the hot team entering play as they are 9-3 overall and have won eight straight games. They are 8-0 in the Mountain West division. They beat up on a down Mountain West conference this year but didn’t play Boise St or the Air Force from the Mountain division. They suffered a major injury to quarterback Maxwell Smith who suffered an ACL injury and will be out for this game. San Diego St has been a ground and pound team this year behind their very good offensive line. They sit 15th from college football in rushing as they run for 235 yards per game.

Air Force enters play with a mark of 8-4 and was 6-2 in the Mountain division. This is their third straight road game with a 37-30 road win at Boise St and a 47-35 road loss to New Mexico last week. The Falcons defense has allowed 28 or greater points in three straight games.

The San Diego St Aztecs program has produced running backs into the NFL. They look like they have another hot NFL prospect as running back Donnel Pumphrey that has put up some impressive numbers on the year. He is rushing for 1464 yards this season on 268 carries and 16 rushing touchdowns. Pumphrey is averaging 5.5 yards a carry and has rushing touchdowns in 10 of his 12 games.
