St-Louis Cardinals vs Cincinnati Reds – 4/19/15 MLB Fantasy Sports, Baseball Picks, Odds & Predictions
Sunday Night Baseball will feature two NL Central teams going head to head as the St Louis Cardinals will host the Cincinnati Reds at 8PM Eastern Time over ESPN TV.
The St Louis Cardinals have taken the first two games of this series. The team will be riding a four game win streak as they take the field on Sunday night. They are getting great pitching thus far in this young season as they rank number on in ERA and are third rank in WHIP. The Cardinals have a team ERA of just 2.00 and team WHIP of 1.02. The team is 7-3 on the year and holds a one game lead over the Chicago Cubs for first place in the NL Central division.
Cincinnati is off to a 5-6 start to the year. After a fast start the club has lost three straight and six of their past seven games. They are struggling at the plate as the rank near the bottom of MLB in runs scored and team batting average. The club pushes across 3.27 runs per game and hits .218 on the year. The hitting is coming from three everyday hitters who happen to be both middle infielders as their first basemen. The Reds outfield has been very quiet with the bat.
Cincinnati Reds Shortstop: Despite some rather poor offensive numbers there are some Reds hitting the baseball. Zach Cozart has seen action in 11 games this season and is hitting .368 with a home run and two RBI’s. He has had back to back three hit games in this series and will carry a seven game hit streak into Sunday Night Baseball.
Cincinnati Reds 1B: Joey Votto has taken some criticism over the years from baseball fantasy draft managers over the number of walks he takes. They want a bit more hitting production from him. So far in 2015 Votto is hitting .350 with four home runs and 10 RBI’s. He has ten walks in 40 plate appearances cranking up his on base percentage to .480 on the year. He is 2 for 6 in this season and has received three bases on balls.
Cincinnati Reds 2B: Brandon Phillips is batting .286 on the year with three RBI’s. All 12 hits this season have been singles.
Cincinnati Reds Pitcher: Mike Leake will take the mound for the Reds on Sunday. The five year veteran will make his second start of the year. He is 0-0 with a ERA of 4.97 and WHIP of 1.50. His lone road start he gave up four earned runs and seven hits with two homers surrendered in seven innings at the Chicago Cubs.
St Louis Cardinals 3b: Matt Carpenter is off to a great start to the season. He is hitting .381 with one homer and 9 RBI’s. Carpenter has multiple hits in six straight games. In this series with the Reds the Cardinals third baseball has four hits in nine at bats with three doubles.
St Louis Cardinals LF: Matt Holliday looks to be able to play on Sunday after experiencing some back issues. On the year Holliday is batting .264 with 6 RBI’s. Only one extra base hit in his 12 hits thus far but he has an on base percentage of .476.
St Louis Cardinals SS: Jhonny Peralta has his nine game hitting streak snapped as he goes 0-4 on Saturday against the Reds. On the season the 12 year veteran is hitting .325 with a homer and 7 RBI’s.
St Louis Cardinals C: Yadier Molina has three hits in seven at bats in this series against the Reds. Molina was hitting just .143 after a 5-4 home loss to Milwaukee. He has since been on a tear as he has 8 hits in his past 15 at bats.
St Louis Cardinals P: Adam Wainwright: The Cardinals will start veteran Adam Wainwright. The 9 year veteran missed some of the preseason as he experience an ab injury. He was able to make his last exhibition start. On the year Wainwright is 1-1 with an ERA of 2.08 and WHIP of 1.08. After throwing six scoreless innings in an opening day win at Chicago the Cardinals right hander was tagged with a loss on Monday as he allowed three earned runs and eight hits over seven innings of work home to Milwaukee.
