St. Louis Blues vs Colorado Avalanche – 01/22/16 Preview
The St. Louis Blues (28-15-7) will battle the Colorado Avalanche (24-21-3) tonight in Denver. The Blues are the odds favorites to win (line: -105). Here is the projected lineup for tonight:
St. Louis is expecting to have their defensemen Carl Gunnarsson and Colton Parayko available after missing Wednesday’s 2-1 win at the Detroit Red Wings. The Blues, which did not remove Gunnarsson properly from the injured reserve on time had to play with 5 defensemen. Parayko was scratched with flu-like symptoms. Goalie Brian Elliott will have the start with his 5-1-0 record, 2.03 goals-against average and .938 save percentage since Jake Allen sustained a lower-body injury January 8.
Defenseman Erik Johnson could return to the lineup after missing 8 games with a lower-body injury. The Avalanche went 5-3-0 without him. Coach Patrick Roy said he will wait for clearance from his medical staff and the Head Athletic Trainer will make that decision. Roy’s plan is to start Semyon Varlamov on Friday and Saturday against the Dallas Stars.
