Philadelphia Eagles versus Carolina Panthers
Sunday Night Football Fantasy League Picks 10-25-2015
The Carolina Panthers will put their undefeated record on the line as they meet the Philadelphia Eagles from Sunday night football. NFL fantasy draft GMs can tune to NBC TV on October 25th at 8:30PM Eastern Time to follow the results of their roster picks.
Last year these clubs met and it was Philadelphia crushing the Panthers by the score of 45-21. It was a bad night for Carolina as they turned the ball over five times in defeat. Cam Newton threw three interceptions so there is a bad taste in his mouth as he enters this matchup with the Eagles on Sunday night. The Panthers defense allowed backup Mark Sanchez to throw for 332 yards and two touchdowns. The Eagles won with just 37 rushing yards on 23 carries but they executed well in the red zone by going 4 of 4.
The Philadelphia Eagles got off to a slow start as they began at 1-3 to start the season. They have won two straight to move to 3-3 and hold the first place spot in the NFC East division. There has been tons of criticism about the Eagles offense sputtering. What has been lost has been the improved play of the Philadelphia defense. The team is seventh in the NFL in scoring defense as they limit opponents to just 18.3 points per game. Yards numbers are down as well as the Eagles allow 354 per contest which is 15th in the league. They played on Monday night football and defeated the New York Giants by the score of 27-7. It was an ugly game even in victory for the Eagles as quarterback Sam Bradford threw three interceptions as the club finished with four turnovers. Philadelphia on defense held the Giants to 247 yards of offense.
The Carolina Panthers are off to a 5-0 mark in 2015. They come off a nice victory at the Seattle Seahawks last week by the score of 27-23. The Panthers were down 23-20 and Cam Newton led a late touchdown drive with just 32 seconds remaining in the game. Red zone on both ends of the field were good as the Panthers offense go 3 of 3 and the Panthers defense held Seattle to 1 of 3 inside the red zone. Carolina ranks seventh in the league in total defense by surrendering 338 yards per game.
Philadelphia Eagles QB:
The Eagles quarterback is hitting on 64% of his throws for 883 yards with nine touchdowns and nine picks. It is very disappointing that Bradford has nine picks already in the season. Bradford in the Giants game hit 24 of 38 passes for 280 yards with a touchdown along with the three picks.
Philadelphia Eagles RB:
Murray is sharing carries with Ryan Mathews. It has been a poor season for Murray this year with 242 yards on 70 carries and three touchdowns and 3.5 yards per run attempt. In the passing game Murray has grabbed 21 passes for 127 yards and a touchdown. He showed improvement on Monday night with 112 rushing on the Giants defense on 21 carries and a touchdown.
Philadelphia Eagles WR:
The second year wide out has 36 catches for 384 yards with a touchdown. He was targeted 11 times and caught six passes for 59 yards in the win against the Giants.
Carolina Panthers QB:
Newton is completing 55.4% of his throws for 1078 yards with eight touchdowns and four picks. He is a major threat to run the football with 50 carries for 225 yards and three touchdowns. He is averaging 4.5 yards per carry.
Carolina Panthers RB:
The eighth year veteran back has 79 carries for 298 yards and two touchdowns. In the Seattle game Stewart had 20 carries for 78 yards. He had two rushing touchdowns which is a monster accomplishment against the Seattle defense on the road.
Carolina Panthers TE:
Olsen leads the Panthers with 24 catches for 374 yards with three touchdowns. He was the recipient of the game winning touchdown pass in the closing seconds at Seattle last week. On the year he has 24 catches for 374 yards and three touchdowns. He had seven grabs for 131 yards against the Seahawks.
