Philadelphia Eagles versus Atlanta Falcons
NFL One Day Fantasy Football pics 9-14-2015
Monday Night Football will feature two explosive offenses as the Atlanta Falcons will face the Philadelphia Eagles. NFL fantasy GM’s can tune to ESPN TV at 8PM Eastern Time to follow the results of their drafted rosters.
The Philadelphia Eagles were a 10-6 team a year ago and was one of the best offenses in the NFL. They play fast offensively and run many plays which are what fantasy managers look for. They give opportunities put up huge stats for their playmakers based on the high number of plays they run from scrimmage. The major changes to the roster include the acquisition of running back DeMarco Murry from the Cowboys via free agency. Then they shipped starting quarterback Nick Foles to St Louis and acquired Sam Bradford. The former Ram quarterback Bradford has had issues in recent seasons staying healthy.
The Atlanta Falcons failed to make the playoffs in 2014 and it cost head coach Mike Smith his job. Smith a former defensive coordinator of the Jacksonville Jaguars had difficulty generating a pass rush in his final years with the team. Former defensive coordinator of the Seattle Seahawks Dan Quinn will take over as head coach. He has a tough job in preparing against the dynamic and fast paced offense of the Seattle Seahawks. It is worth noting that Seattle with Quinn as the defensive coordinator was able to successfully defend the Eagles in their meeting in 2014 with a fierce pass rush. The question is if Quinn has the personnel to make an immediate impact with the Falcons defense.
Philadelphia Eagles QB:
Sam Bradford is a former first round draft pick of the St Louis Rams. He has not had many playmakers to work with in his time with St Louis. He also played behind a much maligned offensive line that contributed to his injuries the past few seasons. He missed all of 2014 and played in only 7 games in 2013. His 60.7% completion percentage in 2013 was his highest in his career. His 2012 season saw Bradford play an entire 16 regular season games as he had 21 touchdowns and 13 picks.
Philadelphia Eagles RB:
Demarco Murray in his 2014 campaign with the Dallas Cowboys ran for 1845 yards with 13 touchdowns and a very good 4.7 yards per carry average. He also contributed in the passing game with 57 catches for 416 yards.
Philadelphia Eagles WR:
Jordan Matthews is a second year man out of Vanderbilt. He was effective in his rookie campaign in 2014 as he caught 67 passes for 872 yards with eight touchdowns and 42 first down gains.
Nelson Agholor is a rookie out of USC who showed some of his high potential during the preseason.
Philadelphia Eagles TE:
Now in his ninth season tight end Brent Celek caught 32 passes for 340 yards and one touchdown. Celek may see extended time as Zach Ertz has a groin issue.
Atlanta Falcons QB:
Matt Ryan has not had much of a run game to support him in recent seasons. Last year the Falcons veteran signal caller hit on 66% of his throws for 28 touchdowns and 14 picks.
Atlanta Falcons RB:
Rookie Tevin Coleman in his senior season at Indiana ran effectively as the Hoosiers lost several quarterbacks to injury last year. Opposing defenses knew Coleman was going to run yet he still put up monster numbers last year. Devonta Freeman is nursing a hamstring problem so Coleman could get heavy work on Monday night.
Atlanta Falcons WR:
Julio Jones caught 104 balls last year for 1593 yards with six touchdowns. He averages 15.3 yards per reception last year. The Eagles are tweaking their defense and there are different personnel that may need time to jell.
Roddy White had 80 catches last year for 921 yards with seven touchdowns and 54 first down gains. White averaged 11.5 yards per reception which is two yards below his13.5 yards per reception career mark.
Atlanta Falcons TE:
Jacob Tamme had 14 receptions last year for 109 yards and two touchdowns. He was backing up Julius Thomas in his time with Denver last year.
