The Mets opened up this series at Dodger Stadium with a mark of 40-40. It has been a struggle offensively for New York as the club has been held to two runs or fewer in nine of their past ten games after losing 6-1 at home to Chicago on Thursday afternoon. The team is 29th in team batting at .232. On the positive side the Mets have a great group of young starting pitchers who are flourishing at the Major League level. The starting staff has 50 quality starts good for second best in all of baseball.

The LA Dodgers have won five more games than the Mets. They are getting very good starting pitching. The hitting was hot early but has cooled down some. The club has had struggles scoring runs on the road. At home LA has been good with a record of 27-13.

New York Mets CF: Juan Lagares leads the everyday players with a batting average of .257. His slugging percentage is poor at .342 so he gets very few extra base hits. He has just three hits in his past 30 at bats.
