New York Giants versus Philadelphia Eagles Monday Night Football Fantasy League Picks 10-19-2015
Monday Night Football features two NFC East rivals as the Philadelphia Eagles will be home to the New York Giants. NFL fantasy draft GM’s can check out ESPN at 8:30PM Eastern Time on October 19th to follow the results of their roster picks.
The Eagles when they faced the Giants last year won both meetings. The Giants sit atop the NFC East with a record of 3-2. The team was off to a horrific 0-2 start and they could very easily be 5-0 if not for making mental mistakes in their first two games of the season. Last week the Giants hosted the San Francisco 49ers and with a late Eli Manning touchdown pass prevailed by the score of 30-27. It was a nice win for New York to get them over .500 for the first time this season. But there has to be concern that Giants defense allowed an anemic offense like the 49ers to post 27 points and hold a narrow lead late in the game. New York is 32nd and last in the NFL in pass defense by surrendering 304 yards per game through the air. Part of the problem is the Giants really have trouble generating any type of pass rush.
There is a two way tie in the NFC East for second place with the Eagles and Cowboys at 2-3. The Eagles hosted the New Orleans Saints last week and came away with a convincing 39-17 victory. It was the first time this season that Philadelphia resembled the way the Eagles played for Chip Kelly in his first two years as head coach of the team. They rolled up 519 yards of offense on a very poor New Orleans defense. Philadelphia now sits 13th in the league in scoring offense at 23.4 points per game and hoping that last week’s win can be an indication of things to come from this offense.
New York Giants QB:
The veteran quarterback is completing 66% of his throws for 1417 yards with ten touchdowns and two picks. The ball was in the air last week in their win against the 49ers. The Giants are playing faster and it is showing in the stats as Eli Manning is averaging nearly 40 passing attempts per game. Last week Manning threw the football 54 times and completed 41 passes for 441 yards with three touchdowns and a pick. Manning has thrown two touchdowns or greater in four straight starts.
New York Giants RB:
The Giants are running three backs. Jennings leads the club with 53 carries for 180 yards with a touchdown. He is averaging just 3.4 yards per carry.
The fifth year back that was acquired from the Patriots in free agency has 25 rushes for 101 yards. In the passing game Vereen has caught 20 balls for 208 yards with a touchdown.
New York Giants WR:
Odell Beckham Jr
Beckham Jr. leads the Giants with 31 receptions for 423 yards and three touchdowns. He was targeted 11 times last week against the 49ers and caught seven passes for 121 yards and a touchdown.
Philadelphia Eagles QB:
The Eagles sixth year veteran quarterback has hit on 63% of his throws for 1281 yards with eight touchdowns and six picks. In the win against New Orleans Bradford hit 32 of 45 passes for 333 yards with two touchdowns and two picks. He has thrown five touchdowns over his past two games.
Philadelphia Eagles RB:
Mathews has rushed 41 times on the year for 205 yards with two touchdowns. He had a nice game on the Saints defense but saw limited work with eight carries for 73 yards and a touchdown. The back had a 33 yard run last week against the Saints.
Philadelphia Eagles WR:
The second year wide receiver leads the Eagles with 30 catches for 325 yards with a touchdown. He has just a single 100 yard receiving day in his five games. Last week it was a season low 44 receiving yards on five catches.
