Blue Jays Sweep a Doubleheader against the Yankees on Saturday—Lead is Now 4 ½ Games in the AL East.

The Toronto Blue Jays crushed Yankees pitching in both games of their doubleheader on Saturday. The scores were 9-5 and 10-7 in the two games as the Blue Jays scored a combined 19 runs with 24 hits in the twin bill.

Jose Bautista:

The Blue Jays right fielder had two hit games in both ends of the doubleheader on Saturday. He is now batting .255 for the season with 35 homers and 101 RBIs. He is on a tear for September with a .368 batting average.

Edwin Encarnacion:

The Blue Jays DH had two hits in the doubleheader. His average is up to .271 with 32 homers and 99 RBIs. Encarnacion is batting .327 against the New York Yankees on the campaign.

Ben Revere:

The 27 year old former Philadelphia Philly has a monster doubleheader with six hits in 12 at bats with a homer and four RBIs. His average is up to .309 on the season with two homers and 36 RBIs.

Josh Donaldson:

The former Oakland Athletics third baseman had two hits in Game 2 of the doubleheader. He leads the everyday batters for Toronto with a .306 hitting average with 38 homers and 119 RBIs. Donaldson had multiple hits in three of his past four games. For the month of September Donaldson has a .381 batting average with 11 RBIs.

Ezquiel Carrera:

The Blue Jays catcher had two hits with two runs and a double on Saturday. The backup has a batting average of .281 with three homers and 213th4 RBIs.

Marco Estrada:

Estrada is coming off a poor start by allowing four earned runs with six hits over five innings. He got bailed out by the Blue Jays offense as he received a no decision. Estrada allowed three home runs.

Marcus Stroman:

It was his first start since tearing an ACL. Stroman worked five innings and allowed three earned runs and received a no decision.

Brett Gardner:

The Yankees left fielder had four hits with two multiple hit games in the doubleheader. He is batting .271 with 16 homers and 65 RBIs.

Alex Rodriguez:

The veteran DH had a 1 for 3 on Saturday. He belted a home run and drove in two runs in a losing effort. ARod is batting .255 with 31 homers and 80 RBIs.

Chase Headley:

It was a three hit day for Chase Headley on Saturday. His averaged has moved up to .273 with 11 homers and 59 RBIs. He has hits in three straight games.

Carlos Beltran:

The 38 year old leads the everyday players for the Yankees with a batting average of .278 with 15 homers and 53 RBIs. Beltran is batting a respectable .286 over his past seven days.

Didi Gregorius:

In his first season with the New York Yankees Didi Gregorius is batting .268 with nine homers and 52 RBIs. He had two hits in Game 2 in the loss on Saturday with a double and RBI. Gregorius has four multi-hit games in his past ten games. Ironically he does his damage on the road as Gregorius has hit just .226 at Yankees Stadium this season.

J.R. Murphy:

Murphy got a start in Game 2 of the doubleheader on Saturday and had a two hit game. Murphy has moved his batting average up to .287 with three homers and 14 RBIs.

Brian McCann:

The Yankees catcher had four hits in the doubleheader. His average is up to .245 with 25 homers and 87 RBIs.

Michael Pineda:

Pineda had a no decision in his Saturday start against the Blue Jays as he allowed four earned runs with three homers in 5 1/3rd innings.

Ivan Nova:

It was a bad start for Nova on Saturday as he allowed the Toronto hitters six earned runs over 1 2/3rd innings.
