Los Angeles Clippers vs Houston Rockets – 5/6/15 NBA Playoff Fantasy Sports, Basketball Picks, Odds & Predictions
It will be Game 2 of the Western conference semifinals series between the Houston Rockets and LA Clippers on Wednesday May 6th. The action from Staples Center in Los Angeles at 10:30PM Eastern Time and TNT has the broadcast.
The Houston Rockets find themselves down 1-0 as the Clippers were able to steal Game 1 on Monday by a score of 117-101 to cover as a +7 ½ point underdog. The Clippers brought a very good offensive performance without their floor leader and point guard Chris Paul who missed the game due to a hamstring injury suffered in Game 7 on Saturday night against the Clippers. Still the Clippers were able to shoot nearly 49% from the field and hit 42% of their three point shots in Game 1 in what was supposed to be a bad spot for the team. Game 2 can be a tricky read for NBA mock draft fantasy managers.
After the conclusion of Game 1 media reports have Kevin McHale in a closed locker room meeting with the club screaming at the top of his lungs at his anger and disappointment of his team’s performance. The second half saw the Clippers score 71 points and outscored the Rockets by 20 points with Chris Paul sitting in street clothes on the bench. The Rockets committed 24 turnovers with 9 coming from James Harden.
LA Clippers Point Guard: Chris Paul has been listed as 50% chance of playing on Wednesday. With LA up 1-0 in this series head coach Doc Rivers may opt to rest Paul until the series returns to LA. Paul is averaging 39 minutes a game with 27 points and 8 rebounds per contest. Austin Rivers got the start in Game 1 and produced 17 points in 28 minutes of play.
LA Clippers Shooting Guard: J.J. Redick is averaging 14 points and is making 42% from the three point line in the playoffs. He contributed with 17 points in the Game 1 victory. After a slow start from the field Redick has been more accurate from the field and with the Paul injury could get more looks in Game 2.
LA Clippers Power Forward: Blake Griffin has finally elevated his game in the playoffs. He is playing 41 minutes a game and is averaging 24 points, 13 assists and 8 rebounds. In 40 minutes of play in Game 1 Griffin had 26 points, 14 rebounds and 13 assists for a back to back triple double in the playoffs. He is shooting 48% from the field in his past five playoff games.
LA Clippers Small Forward: Matt Barnes as we have mentioned can deliver offense when needed. He is on the court for his defensive prowess. In Game 7 against the Spurs, Barnes had 17 points and five guards. He had 20 points with five boards and some huge three point makes in the win against the Rockets.
LA Clippers Center: DeAndre Jordan has been great grabbing rebounds for the Clippers in the post season. He is averaging over 13 boards in eight games. Jordan is a poor free throw shooter so he gets fouled intentionally and can pick up points at the free throw line.
Houston Rockets Point Guard: The Rockets listed point guard is Pablo Prigioni and that’s one of the reasons they struggled with 24 turnovers in Game 1. Prigioni is averaging just 21 minutes in the playoffs. In Game 1 he had 11 points and three assists in 20 minutes of play.
Houston Rockets Shooting Guard: James Harden is leading the Rockets in the playoffs with 27 points. In 37 minutes in Game 1 Harden had 20 points with 12 assists but turned the ball over 9 times in the loss.
Houston Rockets Power Forward: Terrence Jones is averaging 11 points in 24 minutes of play in the playoffs. He was just 1 of 6 from the floor in 16 minutes in Game 1 and finished with just 4 points. During the regular season Jones shot 52%. In the post season he is shooting just 39%.
Houston Rockets Small Forward: Starter Trevor Ariza is averaging 37 minutes in the playoffs. After two sub-par games in the final two games against Dallas, Ariza had 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in Game 1. Josh Smith in a reserve role is generating more offense as he is averaging 16 points per game in the post season.
Houston Rockets Center: Dwight Howard may come focused for Game 2 after the loss on Monday. He had 22 points and 10 rebounds in Game 1. Howard is hitting 60% from the floor so expect the Rockets center to get some touches in the paint. Because the Clippers are thin on their bench it may not be smart to foul Howard intentionally especially with Chris Paul possibly sitting out Game 2.
