LA Clippers vs Portland Trailblazers- 4/1/15 NBA Fantasy Sports, Basketball Picks, Odds & Predictions
The late night bail out game from the NBA for one day fantasy managers to build a roster from will feature the Portland Trailblazers at home facing the LA Clippers with a 10PM Eastern Time start. LA Clippers will be playing on a back to back after getting beaten at home to Golden St on Tuesday night. This game will air over NBA TV.
With two weeks remaining in the regular season there is a big scramble in the Western conference for playoff positioning. The Clippers are looking to improve from the fifth seed as they are chasing Houston who they trail by 1 ½ games. Portland as the likely winner of the Northwest Division is nearly locked to at least the fourth seed in the west.
LA Clippers Point Guards: Chris Paul is coming off a tough night on Tuesday. He had a very good NBA fantasy night with 27 points and nine assists. Paul had to guard Stephen Curry and was taxed chasing the Warriors All Star all around the court. In three games against the Trailblazers this year Paul is averaging 27 points per game and 11 assists. Paul will be assigned to Damian Lillard another young point guard and the 29 year old Paul could be fatigued in this spot so proceed with caution.
LA Clippers Shooting Guards: Jamal Crawford remains sidelined for the Clippers with a calf injury. He is targeted for an April 7th return. With Crawford sidelined shooting guard J.J. Redick has been seeing extended time as he has averaged nearly 34 minutes per game over his past ten contests. After a 27 point effort on Sunday in Boston J.J. cooled down with 14 points on 4 of 12 shooting in the loss to Golden St. Redick could be in for a big game here as he is shooting over 47% from the field and 43% from three on the season. Portland is the tallest team in the NBA and with Paul being taxed defensively last night we could see the LA Point guard distributing the ball a bit more and Redick could be the beneficiary.
LA Clippers Power Forwards: Blake Griffin is coming off a monster game on Tuesday as he scored 40 points and hit 16 of 25 shots in 43 minutes. Griffin saw a lot of minutes which shows that head coach Doc Rivers is serious about getting home court in the first round of the playoffs and that’s good news for those participating in mock drafts for their cash fantasy leagues.
LA Clippers Small Forwards: Matt Barnes is more of a defensive player but when the situation arises will look for offense. He has scored in double digits in four of his past five games. Barnes is connecting on 38% from the three point line this year.
LA Clippers Center: DeAndre Jordan has been a monster on the glass for LA as the big man is averaging 16 ½ rebounds over his past ten games. With Chris Paul in a fatigued spot Jordan could be the recipient of some offensive opportunities tonight from the field or the free throw line.
Portland Trailblazers Point Guard: Lillard is well rested as the team is playing their third straight home game with no game on Tuesday. With Paul guarding Lillard expect the Trailblazers point guard to push a fast pace. This will create several outstanding looks at the basket as well as opportunities for assists and free throws. In three games against the Clippers the Trailblazers starting guard is averaging 15 points and over nine assists. Tonight provides an opportunity for Lillard to exceed his season averages.
Portland Trailblazers Shooting Guards: Fortunately the Trailblazers have depth at the guard position as they are without Wesley Matthews for the remainder of the season. 29 year old veteran Arron Afflalo has averaged 30 minutes over his past ten games. He has averaged over 18 points per game over his past two games and hit a combined 14 of 22 from the field.
Portland Trailblazers Power Forwards: All Star LaMarcus Aldridge continues his solid play even as he is playing through a hand injury that most likely will require surgery at the end of the season. In three games against the Clippers Aldridge is averaging 29 points and ten rebounds per game. He is hitting on nearly 54% from the field over his past ten games.
Portland Trailblazers Small Forwards: Nicolas Batum will play his fourth game since being sidelined with an injury. He has averaged 15 ½ points, 6 assists and 3 ½ rebounds per game over his past two games on this current home stand.
Portland Trailblazers Centers: Chris Kaman will be playing his fourth game since being out for three games due to a sprained shoulder. The Trailblazers big man has averaged 13 points and eight rebounds over his past two games playing an average of just 16 ½ minutes.
