Colin Kaepernick starts training
Colin Kaepernick received the green light to start training Tuesday for the upcoming season (click to play). He participated for the first time in drills on the field for the first time since his multiple surgery during offseason. The 28 years-old quarterback, now 28 years-old, joined his San Francisco 49ers teammates during minicamp and participated in all of the training except for the team simulation exercises. Kaepernick has a long road to recovery ahead of him. He received surgery on his left shoulder, his knee and his right thumb since the beginning of the offseason. Reports indicate that number 7 will be eased in into more individual exercise as minicamp rolls along. Blaine Gabbert took over the starting role during the last eight games of the 2015 season, while Kaepernick dealt with injuries. Gabbert is likely to stay on the first offensive practice squad. There is also no timetable for Kaepernick return to full health yet. This gives Gabbert a huge lead on the starting job going in next season.
