Fantasy Baseball Recap – Red Sox vs Angels
It was a good night for Fantasy Baseball’s Angels fans as the home team took both games in the one day cash draft doubleheader against the Red Sox and sweeping the 4 game series.. Los Angeles increased their lead in the AL West to 2 games over the Astros. The halo’s won 15 of their last 18 games and are considered the hottest team in baseball right now. The same cannot be said about Boston who has lost 5 in a row and remains last in the AL East. Their hopes of a playoff berth are shrinking rapidly.

Game 2 : Boston sent knuckleballer Steven Wright (3-3, 4.84 ERA) to the mound to face Andrew Heaney (4-0, 1.57 ERA). Mike Trout, David Ortiz and Albert Pujols all smashed HRs, between the 5th and the 8th. Andrew Heaney got the win, giving up 2 runs. His stellar performances since being called up to replace Jerred Weaver in the rotation, has raised his Fantasy Value. Setup reliever, Joe Smith, earned his first save of the season. Angels win 7-3.
The #1 Fantasy Pick on Monday was Albert Pujols, with a total of 3 HRs, giving him a total of 29 this season. He passed Bryce Harper and Giancarlo Stanton on the rankings for the most HR in the majors this season. He also reached 15th all-time with 549 homers, a record previously held by Hall of Famer Mike Schmidt(548). He is now just 6 HR shy of 14th place, currently held by Manny Ramirez. Mike Trout also produced a HR, bringing his season total to 28. The duo now combines for 57 dinger’s. Shades of Mickey Mantle and Roger Marris. Pujols and Trout could become the second teamates in history , to reach 50 HR for the same club in the same season.
