Fantasy Baseball Recap – Rangers vs Rockies – 7/21/15

Fantasy Baseball

The Rangers (44-49) were in Colorado (40-52) Tuesday night for Fantasy Baseball’s 2nd of a 3 game series. Texas was looking to avoid losing again by starting Matt Harrison(1-1, 5.40ERA) in his second start this season. He faced off against Kyle Kendrick(3-11, 6.12ERA), who lasted 1 inning in his last Cash Draft game because of a  lenghty rain delay.

The Choo Choo train rolled into Coors Field in last night Fantasy Baseball matchup. Fantasy Value Pick, Shin-Soo Choo, completed the 9th cycle in Ranger’s history and becomes the first asian born player to accomplish this feat in the MLB. Texas are hoping that this win will help to push for a playoff spot, as they are 3rd in the American League West.

Daily Fantasy Baseball Highlights :

Shin-Soo Choo double and Delino DeShields single, in the 2nd, scored 3 in favor of the Rangers. On his next at-bat, Choo hit his 12th HR and put an end to Kendrick awful night. In the 5th, Shin-Soo Choo single allowed Josh Hamilton to cross the plate. The Korean than scored a run on an error by Colorado’s reliever Yohan Flande. The big bat of Prince Fielder finally joins the party hitting an HR in the 6th. Its his 15th dinger of the season. In the 8th, Rougned Odor hit a sacrifice fly that allowed Delino DeShield to score. Shin-Soo Choo hit first in the top of the 9th and tripled for the cycle on a sharp drive to center field that Rockies speedster Charlie Blackmon wasn’t able to reach. Delino DeShield also had the opportunity to hit for the cycle after he completed everything, but he ultimately couldn’t get the HR.

Matt Harrison  earned his first win since  May 8, 2014. He gave up 7 hits but allowed no runs in 6 innings pitched. It looks like his back problems are a thing of the past. Despite the victory, Texas middle of the order went for a total 3 for 13 and produced 1 RBI, coming from Fielder’s HR.

The Rockies are the 2nd to worst team this year, behind the Phillies. They will start looking toward next year to get back into contention. Troy Tulowitski, Nolan Arenado and DJ Lemahieu are the only bright spots for  Colorado. The 30 years old, Tulowitzki, will be on top of the list for trade rumors, despite his interest to stay with the team.
