Sunday Night Baseball features teams with postseason potential as the Pittsburgh Pirates will be hosting the San Francisco Giants. Fantasy baseball draft managers can tune to ESPN TV on Sunday August 23rd at 8PM Eastern Time to track the scoring results of their league roster.

The teams have split the first two games of this series as San Francisco was able to earn a 6-4 victory at Pittsburgh on Friday night. In their first five meetings of the year the Pirates have won four of the five games. The win moved the Giants to two games in the loss column back of the LA Dodgers in the NL West division race. The Giants hitters rank second best in team batting average at .270 to date. In the wildcard race the Giants sit four games back of the Cubs for the final spot.

Pittsburgh is chasing St Louis for the top spot in the NL Central. They are four games in the loss column back of the Cardinals with just 32 games left to be played. The Pirates are eight games up on the Giants for the final NL Wildcard spot. The Pittsburgh pitching staff has been outstanding on the year as the club sits second in Major League Baseball in Team ERA at 3.20 to date. On the offensive side the club ranks in the top third in hitting at .261.

San Francisco Giants C: Buster Posey is having a tremendous year at the plate by hitting .318 with 16 homers and 79 RBIs. He looks to break a 4 for 26 slump as he is 1-8 in the first two game of this series.

San Francisco Giants RF: Nori Aoki is good with his glove and is hitting for average at .307 with four homers and 24 RBIs. He is coming off a three hit game on Friday night in Game 2 of this series.

San Francisco Giants LF: Gregor Blanco had a two hit game on Friday night to bounce back from a 0 for 5 to start this series. Blanco is batting .293 with three homers and 23 RBIs.

San Francisco Giants 1B: Belt is coming off a two hit night with an extra base hit in Game 2 of this series on Friday. Season to date Belt is hitting .275 with 17 homers and 59 RBIs.

San Francisco Giants SS: Brandon Crawford has hits in nine of his past ten games. He is batting .320 over his past seven days. Crawford has great power numbers for his position with 19 homers and 75 RBIs.

San Francisco Giants P: Ryan Vogelsong is 9-8 with an ERA of 3.93 and WHIP of 1.35. He is coming off an outstanding start at St Louis on August 18th by holding the Cardinals scoreless and giving up just two hits over six innings in victory. Vogelsong has spent time in the bullpen and trying to earn confidence from his manager to continue in the starting rotation.

Pittsburgh Pirates C: Francisco Cervelli leads the everyday hitters for the Pirates with a .303 hitting average with six homers and 37 RBIs. He has been red hot in August batting .322.

Pittsburgh Pirates CF: All Star Andrew McCutchen had a two hit game on Friday night. He has multiple hits in three of his past four games to move his average to .295. McCutchen has 18 homers and 78 RBIs.

Pittsburgh Pirates LF: Starling Marte ran his hitting streak to six games with a hit on Friday. He is hitting .323 over the past seven days. Marte has produced 14 homers and 60 RBIs on the campaign.

Pittsburgh Pirates 3B; Jung Ho Kang with three hits in the first two games of this series has his average up to .287 with ten homers and 43 RBIs. He has multiple hits in two of four games.

Pittsburgh Pirates P: Francisco Liriano has 23 starts on the year and is 8-6 with an ERA of 3.35 and WHIP of 1.14. His last start was on August 18th giving up five earned runs in seven innings to Arizona yet earning a win due to good run support. Liriano has allowed 12 earned runs over his past 16 innings of work.
