Fantasy Baseball Preview – Chicago Cubs vs St-Louis Cardinals – 9-8-15 – MLB

Two NL Central Division powers meet on Tuesday night as the St Louis Cardinals will play host to the Chicago Cubs from Major League Baseball. Fantasy baseball draft GM’s can tune to MLB Network on September 8th at 8PM Eastern Time to follow the results of one day league rosters.

The Chicago Cubs enters play hot winners of four straight after the club won Game 1 of this series on Monday. The Cubs now sit at 79-57 but are seven games back of St Louis for the division title with 27 games left to be played. The Cubs are getting good pitching this season sitting sixth in Team ERA (3.57) and is fifth best in WHIP (1.20). They are the worst hitting team in baseball with a team batting average of .241

St Louis has a firm grip in the NL Central division for some time. As they took the field on Monday the Cardinals held a six game lead in the loss column over the Pittsburgh Pirates. With the loss in the opener of this series the Cardinals have dropped four of five games. The Cardinals own the best Team ERA in baseball at 2.73. The Cardinals are 3-4 on this home stand with two games remaining before they hit the road.

Chicago Cubs 1B: Anthony Rizzo leads the Cubs everyday hitters with a batting average of .283 with 28 homers and 84 RBIs. He is hitting .294 for the month of September. Rizzo has multiple hits in two of his past five games.

Chicago Cubs 3B: Kris Bryant is hot for the month of September with a .333 mark with two homers. He has hits in eight of his past nine games to move his average up to .267 with 23 homers and 86 RBIs.

Chicago Cubs CF: Dexter Fowler is coming off a two hit game with a home run on Monday afternoon. He had been battling a 2 for 18 slump for the month of September entering play on Labor Day. His average is now .241 with 17 homers and 41 RBIs.

Chicago Cubs SS: Starlin Castro had a multiple hit game on Monday. It is his consecutive multiple hit game. Castro is batting .400 for the month of September. On the year the shortstop is batting .250 with six homers and 48 RBIs.

Chicago Cubs LF: Chris Coghlan had a good performance on Monday with a multiple hit game. He has hits in six of his past seven games. Coghlan has moved his average up to .249 with 15 homers and 36 RBIs.

Chicago Cubs P: Jason Hammel is 7-6 with an ERA of 3.55 and WHIP of 1.12. He has not gone far in his past two starts with five innings stints in each game that resulted in Cubs losses. Hammel worked on September 2nd and allowed four earned runs and seven hits over five innings as he received a no decision in a 7-4 home loss to Cincinnati.

St Louis Cardinals RF: Jason Heyward is coming off a multiple hit game on Monday. He leads the Cardinals with a .288 batting average with 11 homers and 50 RBIs.

St Louis Cardinals C: Yadier Molina had two hits in the team’s loss on Monday afternoon. This broke a 1 for 16 slump entering Labor Day. Molina is batting .278 with four homers and 59 RBIs.

St Louis Cardinals SS: Jhonny Peralta is hitting .318 over his past seven days. His average is up to .277 with 16 homers and 60 RBIs.
