Fantasy Baseball Preview – Chicago Cubs vs Detroit Tigers – 8-19-15 – MLB
Interleague action is featured as the TV game from Major League Baseball on Wednesday as the Detroit Tigers will meet the Chicago Cubs. Fantasy draft managers can tune to ESPN on Wednesday night baseball on August 19th from Wrigley Field to follow the scoring results of their rosters.
It has been a difficult year for the Detroit Tigers as they sit at 56-61 as they open up this two game interleague series on Tuesday. The team made major changes by firing their general manager in recent weeks. It has been a poor road trip for the Tigers as the club has lost four of six after a defeat on Sunday at the Houston Astros. Detroit lost key starting pitching from last season and it has moved the club from a contender to a non-contender. Detroit is 27th in Team ERA (4.47), 25th in WHIP (1.36) and their starting pitchers are 25th in quality starts (53). The Tigers still are a very good hitting team as they lead all of baseball with a team batting average of .271.
The Chicago Cubs opens this series on Tuesday with a record of 67-49 and holds the final wildcard spot in the National League by four games over the San Francisco Giants. The Cubs have been hot winning 15 of their past 17 games and getting tremendous pitching in that span. Chicago is fourth in Team ERA (3.38) and second in Major League Baseball in WHIP (1.18). Their issue has been at the plate as the Cubs sit 29th and second worst in Major League Baseball in team batting at .240 season to date.
