Fantasy Baseball Miami Marlins Projection
For the upcoming 2016 Major League Baseball season, we take a look at every single team and what are their expectations for the upcoming year. It’s usually hot in Miami, but the Marlins were stone cold last year. It’s time for FanPicks Fantasy Baseball Miami Marlins Projection.
They were among the favorites to win the N.L. East, last season. Unfortunately, the Marlins went the opposite way finishing last in the division. The arrival of proven manager, Don Mattingly, could lead the team to their first playoff appearance in the past twelve years. Mattingly led the Los Angeles Dodgers to three straight N.L. West title before switching teams, this past October.
Players to watch
- Jose Fernandez
- Wei-Yin Chen
- Dee Gordon
It’s a happy thought for Marlins fans to know that Jose Fernandez is back for the start of a season. A torn UCL led the ace pitcher to have Tommy John surgery and he missed the beginning of the 2015 season. He eventually came back on June 15th and posted a 6-1 record with a 2.92 ERA by season end. The Cuban import will have his innings monitored by the Marlins, allowing him not to rush his return to full health.
Offseason acquisition, Wei-Yin Chen, gives the Marlins a 1-2 punch combo in the top end of their rotation, with Jose Fernandez. The Taiwanese compiled a 27-14 record in his final two season in Baltimore.
The fastest man in baseball right now showed, last season, that he can hit, as well. Gordon won the 2015 National League Batting title and the Silver Slugger award too. The two time MLB stolen base champ will leadoff the Miami batting order.
The Marlins will hope that their star players can stay healthy this year. Jose Fernandez, Christian Yelich and even power hitter Giancarlo Stanton were sorely missed.
