In Game 2 on Saturday a late ninth inning run made the difference for the Tigers as they earned a 4-3 road win. The victories put the Tigers in a flat footed tie with the Kansas City Royals atop the AL Central standings at 23-14 season to date. St Louis slips to 24-13 and holds a three game lead over the surging Chicago Cubs.
The Tigers are a strong offensive team ranking second in Major League Baseball in team batting with an average of .283 season to date. Pitching wise their staff pitches too contact ranking 28th in the league in strikeouts.
