Daily Fantasy Football News – September 2nd and 3rd 2015

Well if you didn’t get tired enough to hear about the NFL’s “Deflategate”, here is some more news. New England Patriots quarterback, Tom Brady, has had his 4 game suspension lifted by the U.S. District Court. The NFL can still bring this decision to appeal, but for now Brady will be available for week 1 of the season. This news brings up an exciting matchup between the Patriots and the Steelers for NFL kickoff.

Arizona Cardinals running back, Chris Johnson, went through his first full practice with the team on Tuesday. He is expected to play for the first time with his new team, on Thursday. The Cards will go head to head against the Broncos, for the last game of the preseason. Johnson has been sidelined due to a hamstring injurie he suffered two days before Arizona’s second preseason game. It will be his first and last chance for him to compete for the backup spot, against rookie David Johnson. With a strong game, Chris Johnson could see his fantasy value rise yet again.

The Buffalo Bills are worried about running back LeSean McCoy’s injury. He might be unavailable for the first game of the season, against the Indianapolis Colts. McCoy suffered a left hamstring injury during practice, two weeks ago. Bills Coach, Rex Ryan, said a few days later that he was “cautiously optimistic” that McCoy would be ready for the opener. Now, doubts as been cast about the severity of the injury. With veteran tailback Fred Jackson released from the team, earlier this week, it is unknown who is the backup for the team yet.

There will be several Atlanta Falcons player’s sitting out the preseason finale, against the Baltimore Ravens. Running back Devonta Freeman might be one of them. He’s healing a hamstring injury that occurred in preseason, and is expected to be ready for week 1 of the season. Freeman will battle teammate Tevin Coleman for carries, this year. Coleman is also recovering from a hamstring injury that happened in preseason. Health issues and the sharing of playing time hurts their fantasy appeal.

The Carolina Panthers have resigned quarterback Derek Anderson to a 2 year’s contract on Wednesday. He has been part of the team since 2011, but hasn’t started a game in his first three years. Last season, he made his first two starts in replacement of an injured Cam Newton. Anderson has won both games. He finished the campaign with 65 completions for 701 yards and 5 touchdowns. The 32 years-old had no interception all-season. Head Coach Ron Rivera said that “Derek adds stability to the quarterback position as the backup”. Anderson is definitely one of the better backups in the league.

San Diego Chargers quarterback, Philip Rivers, said that they will work with a running back by committee system, this year. It was slated that rookie running back, Melvin Gordon, would be full time carrier of the team, but his underwhelming performance in preseason has the Chargers think otherwise. This news gives the option to use backup Danny Woodhead as a deeper fantasy pick for your DFS leagues.
