New Yorks Jets Tight End, Jace Amaro, will be out for the season. He will be having surgery on his shoulder. The injury happened the first week of pre-season, but it was initially deemed to be minor. He was slated to backup Jeff Cumberland at the start of the season, but had a lot of buzz to become number 1 eventually. Kellen Davis will now fill his spot on the roster.

The Detroit Lions have activated running back, Joique Bell, off the physically unable to perform list. He takes the number 1 spot back from Ameer Abdullah atop the Lions depth charts. Last year, Bell rushed for a career-best 860 yards and a team-best 7 touchdowns. He took over the team’s primary tailback position over Reggie Bush, who is now with San Francisco. Bell looks like he will bring consistent numbers for the first half of the season.

The New England Patriots have acquired kick returner Jalen Saunders from the New Orleans Saints. Since being drafted in fourth round of 2014 draft, Saunders has switched teams 4 times. It’s likely related to a serious car accident that took him out part of last year’s pre-season. At 5-foot-8, he will try to bring a spark to New England.

Giants wide receiver, Victor Ortiz, still hopes to play against the Cowboys, on week 1. He’s nursing a calf strain that occurred in mid-august. Cruz has already missed most of last year due to a torn patellar tendon in his right knee. The New Jersey native is a dicey choice, until he proves that he’s fully recovered and has had a few games under his belt. For now, fellow receiver Ruben Rueben Randle seems like the safer choice for consistent numbers.

Jaguars tight end Julius Thomas will have surgery to repair his injured finger, on Wednesday. This will put him out of action for the next three games. He received a second opinion from doctors on Tuesday. Thomas signed a 46 million $US with Jacksonville, this offseason. He should be back for their home opener against the Carolina Panthers. Without his services, the Jaguars will turn to wide receiver Allen Robinson for more targets, while Marcedes Lewis will replace him in the starting lineup.

Cheesehead’s will be happy to hear that Green Bay receiver Randall Cobb will suit up for the first week of NFL action. He remains a top fantasy option among wide receivers in 2014, despite not being at 100%. With their other number 1 receiver out for the season because of a torn ACL, Cobb will be primed to best his career highs in both yardage and reception.
