College Fantasy Football – CFB – Opening Night Preview 9-3-15
The college football season for 2015 is set to begin and a nice matchup is scheduled as the South Carolina Gamecocks will face the North Carolina Tar Heels on a Thursday night. This game is set for September 3rd on a neutral field in Charlotte North Carolina at 6PM Eastern Time and college football draft managers can tune to ESPN to track the results of their scoring rosters.
South Carolina is looking to improve on a 7-6 record a season ago. It is not common to find the Gamecocks without double digit wins in a season. They do return 14 starters from their 2014 team and must get better on the defensive side of the football. The Gamecocks gave up 30 points per game last year. Run defense was very poor as the Gamecocks allowed 212 rushing a game. This will be a team with inexperience in the passing game as only one of their top five targets are back.
North Carolina Tar Heels is a team filled with offensive weapons with experience. Their entire offensive line is back from last year. They finished 6-6 in the regular season but finished under .500 for the entire season with a loss in their bowl game. The Tar Heels put up 33 points per game. Starting quarterback Marquise Williams is a threat with his arm and legs. Defensively it was a poor year for North Carolina as the team surrendered 39 points per game. They hired former Auburn Tigers head coach Gene Chizik as the defensive coordinator.
