The Sacramento Kings look for a win after losing five of their last eight games. The Sacramento Kings are averaging 105.3 points on 45.9 percent shooting and allowing 107.7 points on 45.8 percent shooting. DeMarcus Cousins is averaging 24.4 points and 10.3 rebounds while Rudy Gay is averaging 17.5 points and 1.7 assists. Darren Collison is dishing 4.5 assists and Omri Casspi is grabbing 6.7 rebounds. The Kings are allowing 35.4 percent from beyond the arc and are forcing 15.8 turnovers per game. The Sacramento Kings have lost seven of their last 10 road games.

The Oklahoma City Thunder hope to build on their solid four-game winning streak. The Oklahoma City Thunder are averaging 108.7 points on 47.6 percent shooting and allowing 100.2 points on 43.1 percent shooting. Kevin Durant is averaging 26.6 points and 7.4 rebounds while Russell Westbrook is averaging 25.6 points and 9.3 assists. Serge Ibaka is grabbing 6.8 rebounds and Dion Waiters is dishing 1.9 assists. The Oklahoma City Thunder are shooting 35.6 percent from beyond the arc and 79.6 percent from the free throw line. The Thunder are allowing 35.4 percent shooting from deep and are forcing 13.4 turnovers per game. The Oklahoma City Thunder have won 10 of their last 11 home games.

The Kings are 9-4 ATS in their last 13 road games vs. a team with a winning home record and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 Monday games. The Thunder are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 Monday games and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 home games. The Kings are 5-2-1 ATS in the last 8 meetings in Oklahoma City.

The Thunder are starting to roll right now and have been playing lights out ball on their home court. The Kings continue to struggle on the road and don’t play enough defense to hang with OKC at home.

The Boston Celtics (18-15) will visit the Barclays Center on Monday to face off against the Brooklyn Nets (10-23). Dominate your competitions with our free to use RotoPicker tool, create the winning fantasy NBA contest lineups for Fanpicks.com

The Celtics had won four of five before Saturday’s 100-97 home loss to the Nets. Isaiah Thomas led the team with 24 points and six assists, Jae Crowder added 16 points while Evan Turner had 12 off the bench, but the undersized Celtics simply had no answer for the Net’s Brook Lopez who poured in 30 points on 11 of 24 shooting. Coming off a disappointing loss to the struggling Lakers, the Celtics really wanted to bounce back and get back into the winner’s circle but the second straight loss drops them to 18-15 on the season and 9-9 at home.

Meanwhile, they had lost seven of nine before beating the Celtics on Saturday. As mentioned earlier, Lopez dominated the paint but he also had plenty of help as Joe Johnson snapped out of his shooting slump to add 20 points while Thaddeus Young had 16 points and 10 rebounds in a much-needed win for the Nets. Unfortunately, Jarrett Jack’s knee gave out on him during the win and while it was orginally called just a sprain, further analysis has confirmed that he tore his right ACL meaning he will miss the remainder of the season.

In ATS trends, the Celtics are 20-8 ATS in their last 28 road games and 5-2 ATS in their last seven road games against a team with a losing home record, while the Nets are 5-0 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record and 19-7 ATS in their last 26 games overall.

The Nets looked good in Saturday’s narrow win at Boston, but the Celtics will be desperate to avoid a third straight loss to a team they should beat, so I’m taking Boston to win this one on the road against a Nets team playing without Jack.

Expected Starting Lineups (not confirmed):

Boston Celtics

PG: Isaiah Thomas
SG: Marcus Smart
SF: Jae Crowder
PF: Amir Johnson
C: Jared Sullinger

Brooklyn Nets

PG: Shane Larkin
SG: Bogdan Bojanovic
SF: Joe Johnson
PF: Thaddeus Young

The Minnesota Timberwolves (12-22) will be visiting the Wells Fargo Center to challenge the Philadelphia 76ers (3-33), on Monday evening. Dominate your competitions with our free to use RotoPicker tool, create the winning fantasy NBA contest lineups for Fanpicks.com

The Minnesota Timberwolves could use a win after winning five of their last six games. The Minnesota Timberwolves are averaging 99.7 points on 44.6 percent shooting and allowing 102.7 points on 45.6 percent shooting. Andrew Wiggins is averaging 20.5 points and 1.7 assists while Karl-Anthony Towns is averaging 16.1 points and 9.4 rebounds. Zach LaVine is dishing  3.2 assists and Gorgui Dieng is grabbing 6.3 rebounds. The Minnesota Timberwolves are shooting 32.4 percent from beyond the arc and 79.5 percent from the free throw line. The Timberwolves are allowing 35 percent shooting from deep and are forcing 14.8 turnovers per game. The Minnesota Timberwolves have lost eight of their last 10 road games.

The Philadelphia 76ers could use a win after losing six of their last eight games. The Philadelphia 76ers are averaging 92.5 points on 42 percent shooting and allowing 104.8 points on 45.8 percent shooting. Jahlil Okafor is averaging 17.3 points and 7.7 rebounds while Ish Smith is averaging 13.4 points and 7.6 assists. Robert Covington is grabbing 5.7 rebounds and Isaiah Canaan is dishing two assists. The Philadelphia 76ers are shooting 31.8 percent from beyond the arc and 68.9 percent from the free throw line. The 76ers are allowing 36.1 percent shooting from deep and are forcing 14.4 turnovers per game. The Philadelphia 76ers have lost five straight home games. Jakarr Sampson and Hollis Thompson are questionable.

The Timberwolves are 7-17-1 ATS in their last 25 Monday games and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 vs. Eastern Conference. The 76ers are 7-2-1 ATS in their last 10 vs. NBA Northwest and 5-15-1 ATS in their last 21 home games. The Timberwolves are 1-4 ATS in the last 5 meetings.

I’m not buying chalk and a Timberwolves team that continues to struggle on the road. The 76ers have been competing ever since getting Smith.

Expected Starting Lineups (not confirmed):

PG: Ricky Rubio

SG: Andrew Wiggins

SF: Tayshaun Prince

PF: Kevin Garnett

C: Karl-Anthony Towns

NBA Fantasy Draft News 1-4-2016

Indiana Pacers versus Miami Heat NBA Daily Fantasy League Preview 1-4-2016

The Miami Heat will meet the Indiana Pacers from NBA action. Fantasy basketball GMs can tune to NBA TV at 7:30PM Eastern Time on Monday January 4th to follow the results of their one day real money league picks.

The Indiana Pacers have become more of an up-tempo team in the 2015-16 campaign. They sit ninth in the NBA in scoring and number four in the league from the three point line. The Pacers are 19-14 would have preferred more wins on the column after 33 games. The defense has slipped from last year.

The Miami Heat will be on a back to back following a 22 point road victory at the Washington Wizards. You have to be concerned about the Heat’s aging stars in a back to back as Dwyane Wade played over 23 minutes and Chris Bosh saw 28 minutes of action. The Heat are more of a defensive team these days ranking second in points against and third in the NBA in field goal defense. They shoot the ball extremely well at 46.5% from the field but only average 97 points per game ranking 25th in the NBA.

Here are the NBA Fantasy Picks

Small forward Paul George is leading the Pacers with 21.5 points per game on the year in over 35 minutes of play. He produces in other areas with 7 ½ boards and 4 assists per game. George has been on fire. He poured in 32 points on Saturday at home to Detroit and on New Year’s Eve the veteran had 31 points along with six boards and five assists. He is a combined 17 of 31 from the three point line over his past two games.

Memphis Grizzlies versus Portland Trail Blazers NBA Real Money Fantasy League Preview 1-4-2016

The Portland Trail Blazers will host the Memphis Grizzlies from NBA pro basketball. DFS draft managers can tune to NBA TV on Monday January 4th to track the results of their fantasy NBA roster picks.

Neither team can be happy with their poor start to the season. Memphis is just 18-17 on the campaign and with their roster should be a much better team. Offense has been atrocious for the Grizzlies as they are 29th in the league in scoring and shooting three’s. The defense once a top five in many categories now is 18th in field goal and 22nd in the league in three point defending.

Portland can almost be excused for their poor record up to this point as the team saw heavy turnover from their rotation during the off season due to free agency. They now sit near the middle in most offensive and defensive categories on the season. The Trail Blazers will be on a back to back as they were in the high altitude of Denver on Sunday night.

Here are the NBA Pro Basketball Real Money Fantasy League Picks

Center Marc Gasol is getting heavy minutes and producing for the Memphis Grizzlies. On Saturday he scored 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds in their defeat at Utah. On December 29th Gasol saw 44 minutes and had 23 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. The Grizzlies center is shooting 46.7% from the floor and averaging 16.5 points per game. He has improved his free throw shooting but nearly 10% from his career mark as he is hitting on 85.4% from the charity stripe. The Grizzlies will capture the Trail Blazers who had to play in high altitude on Sunday night so expect Marc Gasol to produce big numbers for Memphis on Monday night.

Daily Fantasy NBA Basketball Picks 12-22-15

These are our NBA daily fantasy basketball picks proudly brought to you by Fanpicks.com

POINT GUARD

Mike Conley

Mike Conley star point guard for the Memphis Grizzlies should have an outstanding game against the Philadelphia 76ers, who have dreadful overall this season.  The 76ers performance against point guards has been terrible and continues to trend downward.  Both Kendall Marshall ad TJ McConell have gotten the call to split time at the point guard spot which doesn’t fare well for their defensive chances.  Conley’s game as of late has been amazing.  He scored 20 points during each of his last 2 games… we expect Conley to continue his strong play against the luckless Sixers

Jameer Nelson

Still filling in for Mudiay… Jameer Nelson is seeing a lot of court time.  The Lakers game against point guards continues to be poor which explains why they are currently ranked the worst in the league.  We expect, Nelson who had a solid 15 point performance in 37 minutes against New Orleans, could take advantage against the Lakers. Nelson has scored in double figures in each of the last 5 games.  We believe Louis Williams will more than likely see the most action against Nelson.

FORWARD

Goran Dragic

We look to 4th ranked point guard in the league, Reggie Jackson, to give Dragic a tough matchup.  Currently, Dragic is averaging 11.3 points just below his career average of 12.6 points with the drop off in 3-pointers being really apparent.  Dragic is a career .357 3-point shooter but this year is only shooting .277 from behind the arc.  Nonetheless we think he should be coming out of his slump

SHOOTING GUARD

Will Barton

At the moment Will Barton is showing GAME!  Having just come off one of the best games his career game, during which, Barton scored 32 points with seven 3-pointers.  Currently, Barton averages 15.3 points a game and is 6th in the league among small forwards in efficiency. He would also be sixth among shooting guards in the same category. Barton goes into a favorable matchup against the Lakers. The Lakers are currently the worst in the league in terms of giving up fantasy points to shooting guards. Look for Jordan Clarkson or Kobe Bryant to guard Barton, which in either case would favor the Nuggets’ sixth man.

Wesley Matthews

While the Mavericks’ Wesley Matthews has the potential for game… he has been struggling, scoring only 13 points against Phoenix, and a combined 6 points against Indiana and Memphis while playing only 29 minutes per game on average.  Matthews will be facing Toronto one of the league’s top defender against shooting guards.

SMALL FORWARD

James Johnson

Ever since the Raptors realized that Terrence Ross wasn’t cutting it in Carroll’s place; Johnson was appointed to start the last two games.  Johnson has posted double figures in his last two games, scoring 14 points each against Sacramento and Minnesota.  However, we believe that Dallas will test him, as the Mavericks have shown that they are exceptionally good at keeping fantasy scores lower for small forwards.  He will probably be shadowed by Chandler Parsons, and while Johnson is not an explosive player he is more than capable to put up numbers

Matt Barnes

Barnes continues to start for the Grizz as they go small in an effort to bring Z-Bo off the bench and mismatch their rotations. Barnes has only averaged 8.9 points per contest but could see greener pastures against the Sixers who can’t seem to stop anyone. No team is worse than the Sixers at defending small forwards when using fantasy points as a metric. The Sixers’ Robert Covington could give Barnes problems with his length. Covington is 6’9” while Barnes is 6’6”.

Danilo Gallinari

The Italian sniper, Danilo Gallinari will face the Lakers which could very well result in a  high scoring game for him. Gallinari is 7th in efficiency among small forwards and is averaging a little over 17 points a game. One interesting note about Gallinari is that if his shot isn’t falling, he is being aggressive and getting to the free throw line.  He scored 11 of his 18 points from the stripe in his last game. Gallinari’s 18 points came in just 23 minutes, before he was injured with an ankle sprain. The Lakers are the 3rd worst team in the league in defending fantasy points among small forwards. Gallinari will likely see Kobe Bryant most of the night, if he plays.

POWER FORWARD

Kenneth Faried

Faried is a popular play tonight against a Laker team allowing worse than league average production against opposing power forwards this season.

CENTER

Bismack Biyombo

Rarely does a guy come along who has absolutely no role on the offensive end and is yet still very much a play in DFS.  My boy Bismack fits the bill. He’s crazy athletic, looks perfectly at home on the court and exists as the fifth option on offense with the first unit. And calling him the fifth option is really doing him a solid because he’s probably more like the 10th option as you should count all the other guys twice before ever getting to him. But he’s rebounding like a madman and playing crazy minutes. This short slate doesn’t have me wanting to get big money on center.

Marc Gasol

He should dominate Philly and Jahlil tonight. The only issue is whether he sees anything close to the right amount of minutes. There’s always a good chance Philly gets run out of the gym and that’s the end of the Grizz starter’s minutes. Gasol has big offensive upside, but it isn’t consistent. The thought of that plus his minutes going awry is troubling.

NBA Fantasy Basketball FG Shooting Leaders

The King of the Threes

While Stephen Curry has been getting all the credit this year as the three point king, it is interesting to learn that he is in fact not the most efficient three point shooter out there.  While he ranks 5th on the list as far as efficiency for players who have shot at least 30 threes so far this season.  This is important since the three pointer is the most valuable stat in Fanpicks scoring.  However, missing a three does not cost a player any fantasy points so it is much more valuable to have Stephen Curry throwing up a a ridiculous number of three pointers compared to Kawhi Leonard, who may be slightly more efficient, but only attempts a third of the shots.

Fantasy basketball

Overall Shot Percentage

We can assess players based on their overall shot percentage instead of just threes alone.  You notice here that Centers dominate this list as they rarely attempt any long shots and remain in the paint.  The big surprise here is DeAndre Jordan, who is widely known for his inability to make free throws, actually has the second best shot percentage in the NBA.  What he lacks in free throw ability, he more than makes up for with defensive prowess and shots in the paint.  Tony Parker and Andre Miller are the only two guards on this top 20 list.

Memphis Grizzlies versus Houston Rockets NBA Basketball Real Money Fantasy Picks 11-25-2015

The Houston Rockets will host the Memphis Grizzlies tonight in a western conference showdown. It will be their second meeting of the season. The Grizzlies took the first one 96-84, less than a week ago. Fantasy basketball GM’s can tune to NBATV on Wednesday November 25th at 8:00PM Eastern Time to track the results of their DFS roster picks.

The Memphis Grizzlies are currently sitting 5th in the west with an record of 8-7. They’ve won 5 out of their last 6 contest. Surprisingly enough, they hold a point differential of minus-4. Their 110-96 win, last night, over the Dallas Mavericks tied their biggest spread of the season. David Joerger’s team is once again solid defensively, giving up 99 PPG to the opponents.

After winning interim head coach J.B. Bickestaff’s first game, the Houston Rockets went back down with two straight losses. They are currently in 12th position in the west with a 5-9 record. One bright spot for the Rockets is the return in the lineup of center Dwight Howard and point guard Patrick Beverley. Howard rested out the last home game against the New York Knicks, while Beverley was hurt for the past five games.

Houston Rockets G:

 James Harden

Harden is leading the Rockets in points (27.9 PPG), assists (6.4 APG) and steals (2 SPG). He is a one man show once again in Houston. He takes care of every offensive task, and he does it with force. His shooting dropped a bit this year with 38% FG, compared to last year’s 44%.

Patrick Beverley

Returning from a 5 game absence, Beverley will likely start this one on the bench as precautionary measures. Jason Terry took over as the regular during Beverley’s injury. Both of them will share playing time tonight, with former starter Ty Lawson getting some minutes as well.

Houston Rockets C:

Dwight Howard

After missing out most of last season, Howard got back to his rebounding skill this year. He has 13.6 rebounds per game, the most in the team. His average in points is low though. He scored 13.8 PPG this year.

Memphis Grizzlies G

Mike Conley

Conley scored a team-high 21 points Wednesday against the Mavs. He leads the team in assists with 6.5 APG. He’s also a close second, behind center Marc Gasol, in the Grizzlies points lead with 15.3 PPG. The point guard is a reliable option tonight.

Memphis Grizzlies F

 Jeff Green

Green had a strong game Wednesday night against Dallas, scoring 19 points. He has been getting the better of Tony Allen at the small forward position this year.

Matt Barnes

With Zach Randolph’s day-to-day injury, Barnes is going to get the nod to start again for Memphis. The veteran scored 14 three-pointers last night, and he’ll likely score more of those tonight.

NBA Basketball Fantasy League Pick’s

PG: Mike Conley (Memphis)

SG: James Harden (Houston)

NBA Recent Hot Streaks

Daily Fantasy NBA tournaments are not about picking the all stars.   If Stephen Curry scores 40 points in one night, that is a huge basketball performance and a great addition to your lineup, but if he costs you $9000 in salary, you are better suited with two $4000 players who each earn 20 fantasy points.  Therefore, the biggest factor you should consider when drafting your players is Fantasy Value (That is Fantasy Points per Dollar spent) rather than Fantasy Points.

One good way to assess a players fantasy value is to look at how they have performed recently compared to their season averages.  Daily Fantasy Sites primarily use season averages to set each players salary level and take a while to adjust if a player has had some great recent performances.  This is where you can take advantage.

The chart below shows many key players season average Fantasy Points per Game, their Fantasy Points per Game over the past 2 games, and their Recent Rating- Which is Recent FPPG/Season FPPG.  A player with a Recent Rating of 1 is recently playing on par with how they have all season and does not offer much value for their salary level.  However, a player with a Recent Rating above 1 has been providing great fantasy value lately and it likely has not yet been reflected in their salary.

Fantasy basketball

Jamal Crawford leads the list on recent value almost doubling his season average over the past couple of days.  He is a good value addition to your lineup as he comes at a bargain and frees up salary cap to spend elsewhere.  Stephen Curry on the other hand, while having a fantastic season so far, his salary level is so high, that it is very improbable he will be able to exceed his fantasy value.  If you have the cash left over, by all means put in Stephen Curry, but more value can be attained elsewhere.

Los Angeles Clippers versus Golden State Warriors Fantasy Basketball Preview 11-19-2015

The Clippers-Warriors rivalry of recent years is legendary leading to some of the most volatile and spirited matchups in the league. For fans who hate the buddy-buddy relationship that opponents have today, this is the game to watch; the Clippers and Warriors don’t like each other and don’t waste time pretending to either.

The action will no doubt be heated tonight as the Los Angeles Clippers open the doors of their home Staples Center to host the Golden State Warriors. The Warriors continue to show a strong playing form having routed all opponents for 12 straight wins this season, a fitting feat for the defending NBA Champions. The Golden State’s top gun and reigning MVP Stephen Curry has essentially become the Warriors’ point guard and shooting guard this season, taking even more of the offense over in the early going. There’s an ever growing clamor that the Warriors are well positioned to challenge and beat Michael Jordan’s Chicago Bulls 72 win season.

During last Tuesday game, the Warriors were steadfast in extinguishing a late rally beating the Toronto Raptors in a 115-110 match. Curry showed exceptional playing form scoring 37 points while completing nine assists to ensure the Warriors victory.

Leading all-star Clippers Chris Paul and Blake Griffin bring additional spice to one of the most talented team. Yet, the Clippers have not been able to reign in this talent relative to create the postseason momentum that was expected by this team. C DeAndre Jordan was grabbed up by Los Angeles even after he had agreed to play for the Dallas Mavericks.

The injury plagued Clippers come into this game following four losses in their last six games. This past Sunday saw the crippled Clippers rally from trailing at halftime to defeat the Detroit Pistons 101-96.

Here are some recent betting trends:

Golden State is 1-4 SU in their last 5 games when playing on the road against LA Clippers.
Golden State is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games on the road.
LA Clippers are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games at home.
The total has gone UNDER in 14 of Golden State’s last 21 games on the road.
The total has gone OVER in 9 of the LA Clippers last 12 games at home.

Prediction

Both Chris Paul and J.J. Redick of the Clippers are sidelined with a groin and back injury respectively. Ranked as being one of the top five in overall best defensive play, we predict that the Warriors will have an easy win 103-91 over an injury weakened Los Angeles crew…

Everyone knows the value of a high scoring game in daily fantasy NBA contests.  Likewise everyone knows who the high scoring teams are since the ownership percentages of players like Stephan Curry, James Harden, and Russel Westbrook are often 50 percent or higher.  But what is lesser known is the teams with weak defensive fronts who allow higher point totals from opposing teams.  Using this to your advantage may allow you to choose a players with big fantasy value without the massive ownership percentages that limit the benefit you can hope to get from that player.

Below are two tables of the 5 highest and lowest scoring teams as well as the 5 highest and lowest teams in terms of points allowed. Those 5 highest teams on the Points per game chart are likely to have high scoring games but high ownership percentages.  That however does not mean you should go for a team among the lowest scoring either because although they will have low ownership percentages, they will likely not provide much fantasy value.

The other chart displays points allowed per game.  Here is where you can add in value to your draft picks that many of your opponents may not realize.  A team playing against any of the top 5 teams should score higher point totals than normal and a team playing against the bottom 5 teams will score lower point totals than normal.

However, unless you are dealing with a purely point based player, there are other factors that contribute to fantasy value.  While assists are closely linked with points and blocks/steals are somewhat volatile and unpredictable, rebounds can be considered when choosing a player, especially a center or forward.  The below table shows which teams allow the most rebounds from opposing teams and is another opportunity to take advantage of matchups for increased fantasy value in your draft picks.
